SanDisk 8GB Cruzer Edge USB Flash Drive $1 @ Dick Smith

392

You can't buy much for $1 these days.
That said, it's pickup only but good luck finding stock.
There appear to be some left in Cairns but it doesn't look good for Sydney!

"You can't buy much for $1 these days."

Not much in Australia but in the US $1 will get you a litre of petrol with spare change. It'll get you a large 1L bottle of Gatorade or 2L bottle of Coke. It will also get you TWO postage stamps.

and quite a variety of burgers at McDonalds.

      • +4

Both of you are speaking like a true OZbargainers.
        and with experience…. :)

    • +1

      you should go live there

      • Would except I'd have to pay tax in both countries.

        • Why?

        • That's just the way it is. Ask the US govt. why.

        • +1

why do you have to pay Australian tax if you are living in the US?

        • For my Australian income.

        • I thought double taxing of income between countries didn't exist anymore. Wouldn't you just pay US tax for any US income and Australian tax for any Australian income?

        • It depends on a few things.

If you are no longer an Australian citizen then you no longer have to pay tax in Australia.

If you do not earn any Australian income you do not need to lodge an Australian tax return.

Also if you pay foreign tax then you are entitled to a foreign income tax offset which reduces the amount of tax you need to pay by what you have already paid overseas.

this is designed really stupidly. very hard to use because very hard to firmly connect it with USB port of the computer.

    • Yep. Easily the shittiest flash drives I've ever used. I regretted them almost immediately.

My Cruzer Extreme 3.0 stick, however? My faith is restored. Some things are worth paying more for.

    For Tasmania:

    Sold out in Hobart area.
Only left if Burnie and Davenport (which is miles away from Hobart)

  • +10

Still overpriced by approximately $1. Horrible design, painfully slow. Spend $10 on a USB 3 one and save yourself some pain.

reality check… no good if the pc has usb 2 ports

      • +3

its still worth it over this sandisk because the USB 3 one can provide maxed (or near maxed) USB 2 speeds which is comparatively faster than this one.

      • Reality check. I had one of these and it only did 2MB per second on USB 2.0 and 3.0.

I bought a Cruzer Extreme 3.0 and got 55MB per second on 3.0 and 28MB per second on 2.0.

Don't be so stupid to think that just because something is 3.0 that it won't see an advantage on 2.0. Also, whatchu know about backwards compatibility?

        • I just did a test on the USB I'm getting 4-5 mb sec..

        • A bit more than I got with mine for sure.

For the money, its a great deal.

You will get frustrated by its' poor locking function and in how it will soon pop pack and not go into the port all the way, but for $1 for 8GB…

  • None in adelaide

  • none in bris or north bris

  • -2

    So none confirmed anywhere?
If there ever were any, the DSE staff have pocketed them.

  • +5

    • -1

and you're telling us this because…?

  • None on the Gold Coast.

  • +2

No stock. The website is incorrect. Placed an order for click and collect only to get a call from the store saying that they were out!

    • tell them to replace it with another product. Does DSE do that?

  • I have one of these, they are slow as sh*t but still good for $1

  • Its getting that cheap that you could place your CV/portfolio on there and hand it to people as a business card.

  • -2

    $1. :D Great post, OP. :D

    • where did you find them in stock?

      • .

    • -6

Lol. What moron negged me. How stupid. Lol.

      • -2

  • All out in Cairns and surrounding areas :(

  • WA eastern suburbs OUT!

  • Shouldn't this be in freebies?

    • +2

If you can tell me where to get The 1 Dollar for Free, then Yes this should be in freebies :)
Secondly, This product is out of stock in most places even though i'm ready to pay the Dollar.

  • I ordered 3 with click & collect. I drove to the store and they said they ran out days ago. I left with none. :(

  • No stock anywhere that I can see, damn.

  • No stock

  • -3

There was no stock anywhere even when the person posted it. Kinda pointless.

    • I got 8!

    • about as pointless as dropping a neg on a expired deal…

      • -4

I couldnt neg it when i saw it. I was in Dick Smith when this one came up and I asked them to check stop levels.

        • Then maybe that store didnt have it in stock? Its obviously a clearance thing, stupid reason to neg

        • that changes what on ozbargain sunshine?

        • Stock levels everywhere. Not just that store.

    • +4

When I posted it their website said there was stock in one shop in Cairns, and stock in Mackay. I couldn't see any in Sydney and I mentioned that in the post. I wasn't going to sit there and try every place in Australia. I'm sorry that you missed out on a bargain and I sure hope that you get over it soon.

      • -1

Don't worry about the wingers. You will find most of the people that do, haven't even posted any deals themselves.. Ungrateful people

  • Used click and collect after the website said my store had stock, got a phone call saying no stock. Fail dse

    • Ive never had a successful click and collect.
