Audinst HUD-MX2 Hi-Fi USB Audio DAC & Headphone Amp $198US Delivered

80

I own the original Audinst HUD-mx1 and I absolutely love it. I use it on my desktop PC along with a pair of Audioengine A2 speakers and some Audio Technica ATH-M50s headphones. It was a massive improvement over both my on board soundcard and an Asus Xonar DG soundcard; just as importantly it doesn't have any damn driver issues, just plug and play. From what I've read it's more than capable of powering and doing justice to higher end headphones.

  • Did a quick search - can't really find these else where. Can't really compare a price for it.

    • This model just came out and the Ebay seller is the OEM. Google reviews of the older Audinst HUD-MX1 if you'd like to find out more about the product and alternatives USB DAC/Amps (like the Audioengine D1).

  • lol… noticed this was an Ebay item… nvm

    • US$198 shipped is under $200. Perhaps you meant to say that the price is nothing special rather than "price sucks".

      • thought the deal link was an Amazon retailer.. I fooked up

no wonder I normally quote comments that I reply to. You've edited your original post that said that the price sucks because this can be bought from Korea for less than $200.

Changing your post completely, rather than appending an edit to it, destroys the context of anyone's replies to you.

Just like how I got ripped off at the local Korean supermarket when I brought a tub of kimchi for $5, I could have simply flown to Seoul and brought one for $3!

        • A tub of kimchi for $5 is bloody cheap. 13$ in Darwin :(

    • The device is manufactured by a small Korean company and this is how they sell it to the public.

I am not critising the quality of the product, just saying that there is a lot of techno-marketing on the USB-DAC side of the product but hardly any info on the Amp side. Very difficult to tell how good the analogue amp will be.

Also note that inputs are digital only — Toslink & USB — no analogue inputs.

why would you have an analog input into a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC)..

also for this price I'd probably get an O2 or a shiit modi + magni combo

      • It is advertised as a combo DAC & headphone amp… a headphone amp that cannot accept analogue input is unusual don't you think?

        • having an extra port to bypass the DAC and feed analog into the amp is another circuit, not all combos have that feature especially budget ones

I noticed Dick Smiths have DAB+ pocket radios for 35 at Marion SA, but sadly run on batteries. I was thinking of using it to plug into a stereo or computer speakers.
