We would be very interested in comparing other prices as we only use 4 star and higher hotels. Majority of the other travel deals quote prices for Homestays or 2/3 star hotels to look cheaper.

Normally what you see as advertised price on travel company's site are quoted for Homestays/2/3 Star properties and for fixed dates departure with minimum 5 or higher people traveling. These details are usually not advertised in order to entice clients.
link goes to facebook - not details. Book this stuff with a local will be so much cheaper or even viator guides.
BTW the best train in India is still 3rd class to most people better off with flights and a driver.

I am an Indian and can suggest you guys — organize and book hotels and tours individually preferably online than face to face as you might get ripped off otherwise ..
I am not an Indian but have been to India (for 1 months) and can give you the phone number of drivers and guides that can book stuff for you if you want. I also know a good local agent in India that can book what ever you want and is very cheap (u pick the grade of everything from hotels to drivers (u can get local drivers or drivers for visitors. the visitors drivers don't use the horn much and are a bit more civilised)). If anyone wants it I can post just reply if you do :)
Oh just forgot, if you on a tour watch out as they take you to all the rip off shops where a bottle of coke is like $4 instead of the normal price of 50c. Every item has a price on the pack (on the actual item not like a sticker) so look for it and don't pay much more that this (like coke is 27 but its often 30 or even 35 in tourist spots which is fine just not 100 or 200 etc) if the price is scratched off then move on.

This is a place for bargains, not to advertise your business's normal prices, which from my limitied understanding look fairly average.
Hey , i also need the name of the 4 star hotels ( options are fine ) but I think 4 star std varies in Asian countries. Only 5 star and above is something std (same everywhere).
I would not take an option of the train even though they have first class, which is of good std but I would prefer flights all the way
