This should qualify for the $100 Braun Cashback as Kogan is considered as an Australian Retailer

"This Product is offered and supplied by Kogan HK Limited" — which is a Hong Kong based company — I don't think Kogan HK Limited could be considered an Australian retailer.

    • Doesn't need to be an Australian retailer.

T&C clause 5 says "purchase… from ANY retailer".

      • +3

If that really is the case you are better off getting it from Amazon. Doubt either are valid for cash back though unfortunately. But you guys can decide.

      • As I mentioned in the other deal for this shaver from Amazon, if the any retailer provision also includes foreign retailers, then the price is effectively $40, which is a steal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89459

Which is why I'm hoping someone can enlighten us if they managed to get the cashback from Kogan!

        • Personally I think Braun used pretty loose language in their T&C, sloppy on their part. (fairly certain their intention was for this cash back was meant for purchases from traditional bricks and mortar Australian retailers).

You can always Call their 1800 number to clarify, but then it becomes a he said she said thing. It shouldn't be the consumers job to have to confirm anything. If you follow the promoter's published T&C, you should get your cashback.

Promotions like this are regulated by the relevant gaming authorities, so it would be pretty hard for braun to back out/limit their own T&C given the promo has already started.

Thanks for the advice, but for a $100 I would personally prefer to be a little more sure than such an opinion.

Reading the cashback form it says.

Receive up to $100 cash back when you purchase a Braun Series 7, …. hand blender from a participating store.*

*Terms and conditions apply. Please see www.braun.com/au or www.braun.com/nz for more details.

Now in my search I cant find these T&C's but I did find a list of approved retailers. Kogan (based in Vic) is not one of these.

But there is also a note at the top which says

          2 Select your country

Dealer addresses and online shops are currently not available for all countries. We are in the process of expanding this service.

So for a $7 saving, I am not sure if I would be bothered fighting Proctor and Gamble, without strong support from a consumer group. And in the end is it worth the time. But again thats up to the individual

BTW they are probably in breach of the State regulations by not including their permit number on the promotion, but while I know this is required in NSW, it may not be the case for a permit issued in another state. Plus when you go to the site, you can easily find the Pdf redemption form, but not the T&C's that they refer to.

        • …Promotions like this are regulated by the relevant gaming authorities,

          I'm gambling?

        • @ozpete The T&C are on the second page of the redemption PDF:

          http://www.braun.com/medialib/downloads/anz/promotions/braun…

But yeah, I agree that it's probably too much of a risk to buy from Kogan expecting this cashback — more likely than not you're not going to be getting it, and it's probably not worth the effort of disputing it if the cashback doesn't materialise. But at the same time, I think it's probably worth a gamble sending in the cashback form if you buy this from the Amazon deal, simply because the wording of the T&C is so loose and sloppy.

Promos, competions, gambling all fall under the jurisdiction of gaming authorities

        • +1

          @soak

Agree that looks like it, but the whole form and T&C's is confusing, and misleading.

Says "participating stores". Now which one's are that? No list can be found.

If for any reason this promotion is interfered with in any way or not capable of running as planned, including but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, then the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion and subject to any written directions given by any relevant gaming authority, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion, or invalidate any affected entries.

So it will be invalidated if the relevent gaming authority says so. So you will be dependent upon the which state(s) authority.

And frankly lets use commonsense again.

          1. Do you really need the shaver
          2. Is it worth a fight for $7

Like you , this sharing is pointing out things to be aware of.

Its all part of our "service" here.

BTW I am sure some P&G employee will have some answering to do. Very sloppy work.

Not worth the risk. Get it from Amazon.

Its really a matter of opinion for who you want to buy from

Im just posting the deal out their , you make your own judgment

Ill call Braun tomorrow to confirm that cashback is eligible , but as long as they have an ABN on invoice, they would be considered an aussie retailer

Plus you get easier warranty when buying locally

      • +1

Have you ever bought a grey import shipped-from-HK product from Kogan? I'm guessing not.

Last time I bought from Kogan HK, the receipt didn't have an ABN, since it's not an Australian business — instead it states "Kogan HK Limited (Company Registration Number: 1659337)", which is the Hong Kong company details. Also there's no GST included, so it's not eligible for the Tourist Refund Scheme. There's nothing on the receipt to indicate you bought from an Australian company.

Let us know what Braun/P&G says, though! :)

I'd have thought you could have covered this within the original post by bockers.

  • sometimes the barcode should show which Country they are come from.

  • It's pretty much a duplicate in a sense, since it was heavily covered in the other deal

    • No its a separate deal, discussions about cashback are similar but the headline deal is from a different vendor and as such is permitted.

  • +3

The promoter is Proctor and Gamble. They are the distributor in Australia so I'm sure that they have no intention to cover foreign purchases (purchases of stock that was not wholesaled by P&G). If you want to fight them on a technicality then good luck but it is a lot of risk and effort for a handful of dollars compared to just ordering from Amazon.

    • Can just buy from Amazon, then attempt to cashback it…. You lose nothing if you fail and gain everything if you get it.

  • +3

I'd rather pay the nine extra dollars for Amazon than have to deal with the woeful Kogan.

  • +2

OP forgot to say that postage is $29 to QLD. Thus making it $258. or at very best $158 if you can get a cashback. I would go for the amazon deal. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89459.

    • So I wonder where it is free to?

      Entering Post code

      2000 = $29
      3000 = $29

Funny how we just accepted that the OP got it right.

      • not sure , cart didnt charge me shipping in the morning when i posted this
        weird

        • How did your phonecall go???

        • They said it should be fine , then put me on hold and said they'll have to check it out and call me, but didnt get a call back

          Ill update on Wednesday
