Hi Ozbargainers,

Bit of a house clearing set of deals tonight, each of the below may not be strong enough to stand on its own as a deal (as the demand may be limited) but together I think this is a reasonable suite of deals. The below are either chronically over stocked (ie I overestimated how may we could sell) or they are shorter dated items. These deals will not live on for months and months and are an end of line clearance.

Last year I put in an order. Three weeks past and no meds, so I contacted Jason and he sent a replacement which also didn't arrive so I got a refund. 10 months later I get the package from Australia Post with the meds I ordered 10 months prior. I think it's an Australia Post issue here not a 'company' issue.

16k Ozbargainers ordered in 2024. No doubt there were several hundred misdelivered, lost or late items, pretty much all blame came back to me personally. If only clients would take the time to complain to Aust Post whenever an item arrived late, they might actually have to review their service standards. The issue is every client vents on the sender who has no control and can do nothing about Australia Posts lack of adherance to their service standards.

        • -7

My order was never sent, nor refunded.

      • I have generally had good experience. My last order was from June last year. It arrived two weeks ago with insufficient postage stamped over the postage stamp on it.

    • +6

Would it be reasonable to ask why you are so angry? Drop a PM and I can resolve any issue as I do every day of my life, dealing with lost, late and misdelivered items. Waiting 6 months to unleash seems a bit harsh.

        • +8

Mate, PM = Private message, standing by to help you

If you received the "we cannot ship to the address provided" it means you selected envelope post and then provide an address which cannot take envelopes (ie parcel locker or parcel collect).

If you don't reply again we just wait for the reply with a compatible address, sometimes clients take days or week or months to provide this.

Rather than pop a gasket just PM you order number and a compatible address.

Raging gets everyone no where. You are calling us out as unethical when in reality we just need a compatible address to post out your item, its just makes no sense to get angry over this.

          • -7

@jason101: I chose the default postage as offered in the offer. My address was accepted when placing my order without issue.

Yeah companies like to help in public but not earlier, that's why I stated company not to help me here.

I haven't "pop my gaset" as you state. My posting was factual.

I'm not posting information that can be used to identify me in OzBargain.

            • +8

@Sydney Guy: I agree Shopify will allow clients to enter "Santa C/- North Pole" as their address.

When a non compatible or incomplete address is entered, we simply message the client asking for an alternate address and explain why we need it, 99.9% of clients respond and we send their item, seems like 0.1% of clients don't respond then publicly tarnish our reputation, we are helpless in this situation.

          • -7

@jason101: And not raging as you claim.

Seems like anything that isn't positive to the company is responded to by them claiming things which aren't factual.

Not all voting is going to positive, instead you state, angry, pop a gasket, harsh.

            • +3

@Sydney Guy: PM me your order number and a compatible address and I'll send your item right out tonight.

        • +3

No order number, no help. You can proceed to the nearest pharmacy.

    • My experience has been very different, I've placed many orders, zero issues. Great service, every time.

  • Cold and Flu Relief (Day & Night PE) - Codral Alternative EOFY

    Phenylephrine hydrochloride 5mg Decongestant

    No, it isn't.

In September 2023, an independent advisory committee to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) unanimously agreed that there is insufficient evidence showing that "orally administered phenylephrine is effective as a nasal decongestant".[33] The committee also unanimously believes that this does not need further study. The FDA responded to the committee, stating it would take its advice under advisement.[23][34] In November 2024, the FDA proposed to remove oral phenylephrine as an active ingredient that can be used in over-the-counter (OTC) monograph drug products for the temporary relief of nasal congestion.[24]

The only thing it's going to do is raise your blood pressure.

I was waiting for this - 1 ingredient in 1 item and the crowd is ready to pounce and strike. 48x tabs for $10 delivered, if you have a cold, combination of other ingredients (excluding the one stated above) = still better than paracetamol alone

Why didn't you disclose it then?

It's a false claim and you should know better than flogging it.

        • +3

Personally I believe the product has merit and sells several thousand boxes per year. You disagree, this is fine. Last week someone stated Period Pain relief incorrectly described the product on offer, this was their opinion, this is also fine. Old mate a few posts up claims I am not trust worthy, this is his opinion, this is also fine. Where I am going here is there are so many opinions on this site, its really hard to cover off on everyones views.

Not being smart, but do you really expect me to post a disclaimer that several medical studies have concluded that 1 active ingredient in 1 variant of a multi variant product in 1 item of around 10 listed may not provide efficacy. I intentionally hid the item in the middle of others as I know several thousand Ozbargainers rely on this product, tens (or maybe even less than 10) think it should be banned from the site for the reasons you have articulated - its a very hard line to walk.

          • -7

@jason101: It's not my opinion. It's been established by the FDA that it doesn't work.

as I know several thousand Ozbargainers rely on this product

And they're all entitled to a refund.

            Are you selling placebos now?

its a very hard line to walk.

It's very simple - don't make false claims.

          • +3

@jason101: You are off your tree if you think PE has any efficacy beyond placebo effect, which has been demonstrated several times and published in reputable medical journals. Besides the fact PSE is like 3x more bioavailable the half life is at least double, it can cross the BBB, meaning its action isn't limited to peripheral vasoconstriction.

Great news for your bank account if uninformed people buy this rubbish but it's proven both anecdotally and in clinical settings not to work as intended, I just wish more people understood the difference between the products.

            • -1

@Ham Dragon: "I shouldn't have to disclose I'm selling snake oil, because people believe in the power of snake oil "

    • Also just noticed a kindly mod inserted the product into the title, which has no doubt inflated the rage against this deal, I have removed the item from the title and I am sure your warning will make some think twice.

    • Your best bet is to stick with Pseudoephedrine - much more effective.

Just to balance out all tonight's vitriol, I've ordered from Jason dozens of times, and the items always arrive with no issues. I fully trust his deals, and have no issue parting with my money.

Keep up the good work, mate.

    • +2

Thanks appreciate it, the bigger picture on Ozbargain is that reps are basically becoming afraid to post which I think is to the detriment of the community generally.

One issue, one stuff up one error in a listing, title, price etc clients come out punching. Not related to the comments tonight, but generally I wish Ozbargainers would take a step back and realise that the reps of Ozbargain are generally well meaning people. Luckily I'm a business owner, so of course I'll persist with my deals, what concerns me is the "employees" would think it may be cool to post that get literally flamed to death, just roll their eyes and never post again. Imagine a community where every awesome deal, anywhere in Oz could be posted by an employee rep. We'd all be the better for more reps on the site.

I have received the 'cannot deliver' message , which went unnoticed for several days - it was was fixed up once I sent through an alternative address. All good as far as I'm concerned.

Although it might be worth having a *disclaimer/ warning/ note before it goes to checkout

    • I have ordered in the past too, happy with the service & price but I disagree with the rep's claims about PE, which are clearly & repeatedly contradicted by reputable sources. It's not wise to engage in slanging matches with users for any reason, not a good look for them.

The regular price for Ibuprofen 200mg at Aldi is better value - $1.49 for 24-pack.

    • -1

Equiv $11.92 @ Aldi pickup (if you can actually find stock) or $13.99 delivered to your letterbox here tonight. Fair call but not really an apples for apples comparison.

    • +2

Just wait until you discover that picking up from a restaurant is cheaper than having it delivered by ubereats…

    • -1

Agreed, this deal is better value for all those people who want 192 tablets expiring this year, and who never go shopping at Coles, Woolworths or Aldi.

  • 16x Honey & Lemon Throat Lozenges; Exp: End July 2024

Is that supposed to say 2024 or 2025?

    • +1

      Fixed, typo, cheers.

AHPRA would probably have a field day with all these bulk buy posts lol.

BTW I was just diagnosed with anti phospholipid syndrome and they harped on about my overuse of antihistamines and have cited that as a possible cause. Just food for thought when stuffing these down like tictaks on a windy day like I have. A good reminder that these are pharmacy medicines for a reason. We just bypass the crappy 100 questions this way.

I placed an order for the Australia Day bundle and received a couple packs of expired medication. I emailed about it on the 27th. Would love to get a reply, as I found another box that expired in 2024.

    • Please PM, many clients email our paypal email address which isn't used for customer service, some emails get lost in junk and some (being honest) get marked as read and then missed - Any Ozbargainer with an issue can PM for a prompt response.

  • Hey @jason101, hoping to get some assistance with a late order please (fully appreciate you limited control with Auspost)? I made an order just over 2 weeks ago with expedited shipping (the 99 cent version, not tracked) and haven’t received it yet. Wondering if you could please assist? Will send a PM with order number - ty!

    • Cheers, understand from your PM this item arrived today.

  • +2

I had an item that didn’t come, Jason sent me a replacement no problem. That’s a loss to him. How many other businesses would do that? Being Ozbargainers we mostly take the option of not paying the extra to be sure it arrives at its intended destination within a reasonable time and if it doesn’t come he still takes a hit for us. I call that brilliant customer service.

    • Thanks for the info I never knew codral was bs

      • +1

Any oral medication claiming phenylephrine is a decongestant is BS, including the no-name brand in this post.

Thanks also for another class action (Omni Bridgeway) I just joined - lucky Liberal party never got to push thru the anti- class action laws
