So i walked into JB HiFi today to check out the S25U in person. IMO it looks great and quite premium in titanium and with the rounded edges! I had it in my cart online, was looking around a $600 changeover for my S24U, but decided to hold off last minute and didn't proceed. I think it's a neat revolution, but ultimately I want to go down the fold phone route next, and eager to see what the Fold 7 brings. If it has S Pen support, I'll be all in.

Spent the $600 on a Lobster dinner and pair of Sony Ult Wear headphones instead 😀

    • +9

      Thanks for letting us know.

    • +7

Gotta sort out prioritity in how to spend money.
For me personally, after all the code stacks/cancellation and trade in, it costs me $150 to swap from s24u to s25u.
      Was the upgrade necessary? No.
Did it make some financial senses? Yes.
      Hear me out;
      - After a year of using my s24u, a battery refresh cost $99.
      - Another year of staying on s24u, the trade in value will depreciate to $600 (curent value for S23U)
      - a new phone with better battery and better resell for only $150 is too good to be missed.
      - this echos with my previous comment with many upvote that the new s25u will cost $1.1k out of pocket. The trade in with codes and other hacks made this deal 400+ votes for valid reasons.

      • +1

How did it cost you $150??

      • +2

Agreed. This was how I decided to upgrade as well. Currently, the S23U 256GB is worth $200 less than the S24U 256GB. I'll be about $200 out of pocket upgrading from the S24U 256GB today.

So potentially this year's upgrade to the S25U is close to free, assuming I upgrade next year also. If I skipped upgrading this year and went from S24U to S26U in 2026, I'm guessing I'd be $400 out of pocket. Now that I've upgraded to the S25U, I'm expecting to be about $200 out of pocket in 2026.

        • You're missing the fact that if you don't skip the upgrade in 2025 you will be $200 out of pocket for 2025 and $200 out of pocket in 2026, so $400 out of pocket whether you upgrade to the s25 or skip it.

          • @ubiq: It is only $250 ish for me to upgrade from S23U 512gb to s25u 256gb

            • @CodeXD: Yeah even more of a reason to skip every now and then, upgrading every year stacks up

            • +1

@CodeXD: That's not like for like though, you've downgraded and sacrificed half your storage. Fine if you don't need it, but it would have cost you about $400 to upgrade to the same phone 2 gens newer.

        • same… i told my finance that 2700… pfffft fk that…
then i saw this thread/did the sums

and would end up paying ~1250 for the 1TB s25 ultra… thats a sweet deal…

usually my phones last 3-5 years but the jump from 23 to 25 should be noticable with the AI and new snapdragon elite…

      • I think if you factor in returning or cancelling accessories its free

        • +2

I kind of have factored that in. If I can return them I'm $168 out of pocket for the year, if I sell them on eBay I'll be just over $200 out of pocket.

Also worth noting, there's no guarantee Samsung will offer the same generous upgrade offer in 1,2,3 years. So while I don't need this upgrade, I'm maximising the future trade-in value of my 'asset'.

      • May I ask regarding the Shop App 5% first purchase? Did you have that last year for S24U 5% discount? Does this first purchase 5% resets every year? or once you purchased with it last year 2024 for S24U …. you cant get another 5% discount for SU25 ?

        • The 5%, which AFAIK is tied to the email you made purchase, once only. I purchased s24u last year with the 5%.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16201639/redir
I did exactly the same thing and swapped a family members S23U 512GB, and it was $400 to swap. However, do bear in mind s23u 512gb was ~$250 more in 2023 compared to base 256gb.
Therefore, the depreciation and memory downgrade is a $650 lost. If factoring s23u 256gb trade in, its about $450, moral of this storytelling; dont spend more on storage unless you need it.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16201249/redir
Agree here, there is no guarantee next years pre-order will be as good. Profiteering is the goal of all businesseses, why would they made them cheaper if more people are still buying themselves even with cost of living crisis (this years observation so far)

    • I hear you. I am still torn.. its in for order on the EDU store, and then I heard about the S Pen and no more 10x camera (thought they would fix that).

I do like it a touch lighter.. might still get it, but on fence

  • $150 Trade-In bonus not adding up in my cart . anyone have a same problem ???

    • Check blue lines near by your added phone in the cart. It is mentiond that $150 added as a trade in.

  • I know the GALAXY2025 code can only be used once per account and I know the $20 eVoucher is limited to one per transaction, but does anybody know if an account can use a different $20 eVoucher on the second transaction? Say I've purchased 2 x $20 eVoucher codes. I used one in the first transaction. Can I use the second one in another transaction? The wording from this comment:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16200860/redir

make it sound like I can't.

    • $20 you can use on another trasaction on the same account but you will not get $100 second time.

But you can login through different email address the. You can use that and will get $100.

      • $20 you can use on another trasaction on the same account but you will not get $100 second time.

Are you saying I will only get $20 on the second transaction?

        • No

You said you have 2 $20 voucher?
          If Yes

Then login and use xyz email to order and use one voucher.

Then delete cache of your browser and login with different email address and use 2nd voucher.

    • why not create a new account?

      • I would but I only have one nephew with an edu.au email.

        • +1

it's ok. it can be done.

You are not understanding how Samsung works. There is something called Samsung Account.

You can create unlimited Samsung Accounts. This is your account. It can be any email… doesnt matter.
Then the education email account is just a KEY to allow you to enter into the Education Store.

Many Samsung Accounts can use the same KEY (only one at a time though). All you need to do is ask Samsung to unlink the Key….to your first Samsung Account. Tell them you want a new Samsung Account now… and you want to use that Key for this new Samsung Account.

takes 2 hours for Samsung Orders (live chat) team to unlink/reset the account, severing the link to the edu.au. So you can relink to a a new Samsung Account.

          • +1

@Sydney11: Thanks for that. I asked about this on the thread earlier, but no one was able to tell me if it was possible to unlink/reset the account.

takes 2 hours for Samsung Orders (live chat) team to unlink/reset the account, severing the link to the edu.au. So you can relink to a a new Samsung Account.

Yikes, 2 hours is a long time.

          • @Sydney11:

Many Samsung Accounts can use the same KEY (only one at a time though). All you need to do is ask Samsung to unlink the Key….to your first Samsung Account. Tell them you want a new Samsung Account now… and you want to use that Key for this new Samsung Account.

Is it possible that instead of being just a key the edu email is an account in itself? Mine doesn't appear to be linked to any other Samsung account and seems to be standalone. Trying to use it while signed into any other Samsung account just errors out.

            • @niyiaw: yes possible. edu.au email can itself be an account.

It has to be a new Samsung Account (edu.au email) linked to your edu.au email.

              • @Sydney11:

It has to be a new Samsung Account (edu.au email) linked to your edu.au email.

Sorry you lost me there. Are you saying I can't link my current edu email account to a non edu account?

                • @niyiaw: you can do it either way.

You need to understand how Samsung Account works. One university email can only be linked to one Samsung Account at any one time. If you want that same university email account to be link to another Samsung Account, you need Samsung to reset/ delink/ unlink or severe the link, then you can rellink to any Samsung Account you want.

                  Read page 24

          • @Sydney11: too late today. i tried this afternoon they said the account team don't work on weekends. and the galaxy2025 code will be reduced today.

            • @elvislj: The Accounts team is different from the Order team live chat. I went through the Order team (they should be part of Sales), they helped me to delink.

I spoke to the Accounts team too, I had to call them (I think they are in Philippines)… they can help with relinking if you have trouble. But you dont really need help in 're-linking', if they unlink it correctly. Relinking is easy… just type in the university email. As long as that university email is not linked to any other Samsung Account, it should work.

I had the impression the Order team/ Sales team works everyday Monday to Sunday 8am - 8pm. The Service team (technical stuff…) works 24 hours, everyday.

i cannot be 100% sure. It is a public holiday in Australia after all… idk.

        • Use westpac or other reward portal for second voucher.

    • I spoke to Samsung Customer Service on live chat. They tell me that I can use the second $20 eVoucher on the second transaction on the same account and it will be worth $100. Take that for what it's worth.

    • if you dont use the second code, let me know ;) looking to get one as something went wrong with my order, i lost the code and can't use it anymore

      • Sorry, I ended up using my second code in the second transaction.

looking to get one as something went wrong with my order, i lost the code and can't use it anymore

Have you tried chatting with Samsung Customer Service on live chat? They might be able to generate a new code for you.

        • wasted hours in 2 days with them :) the $400 code is easy to get. The problem is the $20 voucher. At first they said they fixed it so I can reuse it after 24 hours. 1 day later, they said I have to wait until the order is canceled (money was charged, no order was made, so i doubt it would be ever usable again).

  • Has anyone sold their overseas bought phone on Mobile Guru or Mobile Monster? I know it says on website that they have right to reject the phone purchased overseas. But they have also mentioned that they may offer an option of lesser value.

I just had a chat with Samsung and they said they dont accept trade in phones purchased from overseas.

    • When I bought my last phone in 2022 (S22 Ultra), I traded my Note 9 which I bought from overseas. Had no issues then.

      • Did you do it on Samsung website? They just told me overseas phones are not accepted. Our both (S23U & S22+) are Canadian models.

        • +1

Yes on Samsung EPP site and sent the old phone to Asurion.

  • So the cancellation trick doesnt work anymore? :(

In too late, oh well. If they are denying partial cancellations in chat, they could deny a return postage for the buds in the future too saying it was a "bundle deal".

    • This might be the case as otherwise they'll be flooded with returned Buds. Oh well, guess they'll be all over Facebook marketplace.

After reading through all 30 pages of comments here, I’m still confused and unsure about the best steps to pre-order the Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB. Things seem to have changed rapidly, with some codes and tactics being cancelled recently.

If you successfully pre-ordered the phone today, could you please share:

    1. What steps you followed?
    2. What discounts you were able to stack?
    3. What final price you arrived at?

I’ll be using the Samsung Education Store, I have a Galaxy S10 to trade in, and I can also claim the first-time app discount since I’ve never used it before.

    Many thanks.

    • -1

Same here! I just want the 256gb S25 and have an s20fe to trade-in. Whats the best possible price for this currently? Thanks in advance.

      • From memory the S20FE 128gb is $95 and the 256gb is $105. I traded my S20FE 128gb last night.

      • Alot of people are quoting on there the final price they paid on a trade in, which can be super misleading.
        I am currently getting a S25+ 256gb for $626.29.

        EDU Portal
$1 trade in value with no intention on paying any admin fees.
        $100 evoucher
        $200 evoucher
        $100 trade in bonus
        $300 trade in bonus
5% off first in app purchase

    • +10

you didn't read any of the 30 pages… DID YOU?! ;)

    • +5

Use the Samsung Shop App, once you're in make sure to switch it over to the Edu store, add your phone, add your trade-in details and $200 worth of accessories. Then add 3x promo codes (GALAXY2025, $100 code bought for $20, and $400 trade-in bonus). That's the best price.

    • -1

Yes, I read all 30 pages indeed. However, I’m still unclear about some things. For instance, the "$100 code bought for $20" seems to be expired by now. Also, buying a bunch of accessories worth $200 seems risky, especially given the numerous comments about cancellations being impossible and the potential for Samsung to reject refund requests after delivery. What am I missing here?

      • I just used that voucher 2 hours ago. It is still valid. The terms were 72 hours from start of pre-sale I believe.

Re accessories, sell the buds on eBay or Marketplace if you can't return them.

      • Thank you @dubo1981! But isn’t it too late to buy this voucher now? The corresponding OzB page says that it’s expired.

        • the $20 for $100 eVoucher purchase link is expired already..

  • If anyone has some left over $20 to $100 evouchers or if you decided to cancel please DM me. Happy to pay for it :)

  • Anyone who has trade in value 1$ planning to send the old phone or ignore it?

    • How do you trade in $1 value?

      • Its a s10plus with cracks but fully working. I chat with someone from samsung they saying if you dont send the phone your trying to trade in they will locked out the s25 ultra your trying to buy. Kinda stupid.

        • LOL what a joke XD

          • @CodeXD: Got a good deal but after this customer service I kinda want to cancel my order. My s10+ is working well and kinda ridicilulous Im get a 1$ from it.

        • +1

Ask them to provide you the T&C where it says that. Funny joke indeed!

  • I wonder how many people will be listing it on eBay? Those that got it for around 1000 to 1200

    • More likely on facebook marketplace. I'm wondering what they'll sell for, already bought two and considering getting a third.

      • How much did you get it for?

        • First two S25 Ultra 512GBs I got for around $1025 each, once I return the earbuds. The third one will cost about $1150 if I decide to go for it.

          • @PimpButters: How were you able to buy multiple phones? Did you use a different Samsung Education or Rewards portal login for each phone?

          • @PimpButters: That’s a pretty awesome deal!

          • @PimpButters: I got greedy and forfeited my chance to get one for around $700-800. Bought one at the usual EPP discount available to the general public like most others here. For some reason my cart saved with coupons after purchase and allowed me to use my 50% coupon as well. I thought I'd try stack the $400 coupon as well and that's when it fell apart. Lost my Galaxy2025, $20 for $100 as well. Still eating away at me but still happy with what I paid. The 50% voucher isn't worth using without stacking with all the other promos

            • @0 0 0: what 50% coupon? can tell more ? how to get that 50% coupon?

              • @Sydney11: I wonder if it is the same as every year…. that Samsung EPP telco portals (e.g. telstra, vodafone etc) get 40-50% off.

                • @lplau: Telco staff getting 50% off code this time from Samsung. I confirmed with my friend who works at Vodafone.

                  • @Avi0001: how can i get an unused code. is it a generic code? surely not everyone is a samsung fan…. there must be some iphone fans there…

                    • @Sydney11: From Telco employee if someone is your friend.
What I beleive Vodafone & Telstra employee will get 50% off code but I am not sure about Optus.

                    • @Sydney11: They said all have different codes, and definitely, it is not generic.

                      • @Avi0001: Yes 50% code is for telco employees who complete training. Cannot be used by anyone else as you need access to the telco EPP store.

    Hey guys,

Thanks a lot, paid $364.99 for S25 256 GB and $227.43 for Buds 3 Pro.

I just bought Buds 3 Pro, because I could use GALAXY2025 code.

Is there a way to cancel Buds 3 Pro or return it when I get it?

    Any tips/ideas? :D

  • -1

I am new in trade in and don't want send my old mobile. What should I do?
    Thanks in advance

    • +2

      Do nothing

      • Will I get charged 60 dollar or more
If I don't trade in I will not get 400 and 150 trade in bonus

        • You get all the bonuses they just keep the value of your phone if you do not send it in.

        • select that the phone has cracked screen… or a watch etc $1-10 item…
u may be charged $30 for non return item though… its asurion… it can be a coin flip…

          $150 bonus credit
          you're still ~$119 clear

          • @spoonmugen: @spoonmugen where do you select cracked screen? I do not see any such option. And the minimum value which I see in phone and watch dropdowns, is $10, I don’t see any $1 trade-ins. What’s the downside of selecting $10 item? Thanks.

            • @Shahw: after you select the phone… it'd ask you the condition of the phone or item.
i dont know if it drops it down toe $1 or not…
doesnt even matter… u'll pay either samsung or asurion

if its $10 -this comes off ur upfront price to samsung
but then you pay $10 to asurion…
              if its $150 same thing…

    • Not sure. I talk to samsung they say they will locked out your new phone if you dont send the phone you put as trade in. Kinda stupid.

      • +1

You must have got drunk customer service rep 😆

      • +2

They can't actually lock you out of your new phone as that is against the law since they don't own the phone.
You will just lose the security deposit + potentially an admin fee on top.

Not sure why people keep asking about the admin fee…. They may or may not charge you $60 or $30, but overall it is generally on par or cheaper than other methods of buying this phone….. If you can't afford another $30 or $60 on a $800+ phone then maybe you should not be buying the phone at all.

        • I actually dont mind paying 60$ for keeping my s10+ instead of losing it for 1$, but I might send it in the end of the day as I used my credit card to buy the phone.

        • It happens in the USA but likely hasn't been introduced to Australia yet.

      • Samsung and Asurion are different entity. so i doubt Samsung have anything to do with trade ins since Asurion charge a deposit for trade in

  • May I ask how to get the $400 trade in voucher?

  • Can someone please save me some time in reading the 30 pages.

Ive managed to get EDU access
Ive got the 5% off from the app
Ive got the bonus $400 trade in
Ive got $1 trade in for a phone i do not even hsve
I think ive lost $150 trade in bonus, cant see it listed anymore.
    I missed the $20, $100 voucher

Can anyone confirm that if i fail to send a phone in ill be charged $60 only?

Also are we canceling extra accessorie and leaving just 1 in the hopes we will get a refund after delivery but not guaranteed?

    • Might even be charged only $30 for the phone as it is under $10 value, but it is very unlikely that Samsung will revoke the trade-in bonuses as they have never done this before. That's the consensus here based on previous deals.

I don't think it's possible to cancel accessories anymore without cancelling the entire order. I think a lot of people will attempt to return them once received.

      4) Search for "$150"

      • My touchscreen mobile just had a heart attack

        • +5

Then you don't deserve the benefits that everyone has spent time to provide.

    • probably nothing at all.

there is no Administration Fee $60 for not returning the device in the latest T&C

The only thing about $60 is Late Return Fee, means a fee of up to $60 which may be charged by Asurion if you fail to post in your Existing Device within fourteen (14) days after receiving Your New Samsung Device to your nominated delivery address. This fee is non-refundable.

But you are actually not returning it at all.

No Administration keyword in the latest T&C https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/assets/au/term…
