[Kogan First] MSI Claw A1M (International Model): Ultra 5 512GB $549, Ultra 7 1TB $649 Delivered @ Electronics Superstore Kogan

220

I was checking out deals on Kogan and came across these deals for the MSI Claw A1M.

Ultra 5 and Ultra 7 seem like they are back at the lowest they have been. Previous deal at Centre Com

Both are International Models so keep that in mind when buying if that's an issue for you, but kogan does offer a 1 year warranty.

Not sure on how much stock but the Ultra 5 does say low stock.

Only a matter of time before we get sub $500

    • +4

Which is where it should be!

    • And we expect to also include all those no one buying accessories packs too

    • $400 and I'll try weather it's next year :p

  • I got one from the previous centrecom deal, aboslutely love it and well worth it at this price point. I play F124, AFL 23, Marvel Rivals and a few other games and emulators, all running smoothly. AFL 23 doesn't run as smooth as I'd like but it's a poorly optimised game lol.

i like the idea but i dont understand why all these handhelds can go on production and sold to public with just 1-2 hr battery life - i mean they are portable so we can play outdoor without worrying about charging ?

      • -1

Um… it early day of handheld pc gaming. The paradigm hasn't been iron out yet and it your assumption/desire that it has that feature. Which I agree would be nice.

Companies all want to be first mover so they tend to push less then polish products.

You can always decide to ignore handheld pc gaming and let others embrace it with it pitfall until it has improve to your standard. Win/win

Its not early days of handheld gaming, have you heard of game 'n' watch?

          • @Franc-T: I think u are intentionally ignoring the PC part. If we ignore that then lots of handheld gaming doesn't have such short battery life.

If let say we don't ignore it, then what does game n watch got to do with it?

Handhold doesn't necessarily mean play outdoor. when you don't want to sit in front your tv or PC, you can play it anywhere in your house.

      • Yeah I'd much rather they were a bit thicker and had 3+ hours of intensive gameplay, especially since the battery will only get worse with age.

      • you can play smaller games for hours, its already amazing that these can run the same games you play on PC

      • I get a lil bit over an hour on Indiana Jones on the Steam Deck with default (low) settings. You're definitely not beating any real games in one sitting, not without a power cord handy anyway.

I agree with you and all, but powering a reasonably spec'd computer and a controller and a screen, and not weighing 16 kilos, compromises need be made. Older stuff like GTA4 and games of the era will easily get a good 5 or 6 hours on high settings which is perfectly fine by me. The DS had a fantastic battery but beyond that, I remember often swapping AAs in Game Boys, and my PSP getting about 4 hours on a good day if I was lucky. I'm honestly just happy I don't need a proprietary cable to charge these days.

      • I won' t deny that the battery is mediocre, some games I'll get 3-4 hours, some like you said, 1-2. I don't usually game for more than an hour or two at a time so It doesnt overly bother me.

How painful to claim warranty on this kind of 'international model' from Kogan if sh|ts happen?

    • +3

except nothing but a sh|ts load of pain

    • Absolute CBT.

    • Doesn't matter if it's international model, Kogan assumes responsibility as they're selling it to you as an Australian retailer.

If it was AliExpress or an international retailer selling an international product then they wouldn't have any obligation under the ACCC. If their country of origin has a similar law then check with that if it covers products sold internationally.

  • Daaam so tempting. I'm waiting for sub 500…

Can get steam deck for this price with discounted steam gift cards…

    • steamdeck is better, this is more for people who want a cheaper windows handheld

      • I would support steam as steam offers games for me to play for free :)

      • Better in some ways, worse in others.

This vastly better screen (both rez and refresh) and double storage.

    • discounted steam gift cards… please elaborate! I'm listening

      • +3

Classifieds people selling steam cards for 10-15% off face value. Since you can now buy steam deck on steam au, you can use the wallet balance to buy it.

Lowest steam deck is $650 aud so 10-15% off is around $550

        • I wonder if it comes with Australian GST tax invoice so we can get some money back at the airport?

        • Even better, I have about $600 in CSGO skins, but never play CSGO anymore. This is very tempting now!

  • Apart from Kogan warranty, are there any difference wrt to specification compared to local models?

  • Is this in kind of the switch market but for bigger kids?

Come a long way since donkey kong handhelds?
