[NSW] Ozito PXC 18V Brushless 60Nm 13mm Hammer Drill PXBHS-600 - Skin Only $50 (Was $99) in-Store @ Bunnings Chatswood

810

Found a stack of these brushless hammer drills (12+) on clearance at the front of the Tool section at Bunnings Chatswood down from $99.

Looks like plenty of stock at other Bunnings too, whether it would be the same price I cannot say since the Bunnings listing already got deleted.

While its not clear if the PXBHS-600 (clearance) is newer than the PXBHS-180 (current model), it does seem better (60Nm vs 50Nm, Auxiliary Handle vs Non).

If you are new to power tools and need a casual/home maintenance drill, on balance I think I'd rather have this and the $20 battery kit (if you can still get it) instead of the Black Friday Compact Brushless Drill Kit $49.

  • Is the handle removable? Have to assume so…

    • +1

      Yes it is.

$50 for a brushless drill is quite nice

    • +6

      Yes, quite.

  • Can these drill through a brick wall easily? I tend to see alot of tradies use cordless these days rather than wired powertools.

    • +1

If you can pick one up for $50 go for it, with a decent battery it'll get the job done and you'll only sacrifice some time for the convenience of cordless over a mains powered hammer drill (that'll cost more anyway).

    • +1

They mostly use better brands like Milwaukee.

I wouldn't rely on this to drill a lot of holes, maybe for a random one every now and then, but not for a daily.

      • +1

Ah ya big (profanity)! At $50 buy two and enough batteries. She'll be right!

    • Yeah I've got an old beaten ozito "hammer" brushless. It's useless on a brick wall. I have a corded rotary SDS that is way too powerful. Almost explodes chunks off the wall. Need something in between. Wasn't on sale when I was there on the weekend.

      • +4

I have the Ozito SDS battery one and it's been great.
Concrete, Bricks etc , don't buy it for the chiseling because it's crap for that .

      • +1

The better SDS drills have a soft start feature where they begin with 70% power /rpm which reduces risk of blow outs. Didnt stop me blowing a huge chunk of render off the outside surface of a rendered block wall while completing the through drill. Fortunately it came off as one piece and could be glued back in!

    • +3

No way. You need Rotary Hammer drill

    • I picked one up on the weekend for 99 (fisted). I thought I'd give it a go to go through brick. It can but it'll take a while, it's a percussion drill. If you're drilling 6mm holes for plugs or something like that it'll be fine.

If you want to drill in to concrete you have to bring out the big dog SDS rotary hammer. Ozito make a decent one, I've minced through brick and concrete with it using smaller bits. I think that was $99 with 8-10mm bits included and chisels. Also used for chiseling through brick for wall boxes. Light use only though, it gets a bit warm.

Store specific. Still $99 at my local - Fairfield (VIC). And told me they can't price match other stores.

Would it work if purchased and then used a receipt from someone here to get a price match online?

    • +1

You can try speak to the manager, they might able to match the price depending on the stock level.

  • +2

once i've tried rotary hammer, i can't go back to regular hammer drill anymore

    • Easpecially an ozito. Admittedly i do own their corded rotary, as i know it has far more grunt than their battery stuff.

  • Very nice at $50. Still $99 (clearance) in SE QLD stores, a bit of a bargain for the 60Nm with the handle considering the 50Nm without the handle is the same price. Might be worth looking at the 120Nm at $149 but then it's tempting to look at the rotary hammer drills… At $50 yes, but I've convinced myself I don't need it.

  • Still $99 at my local too

  • Still $99 at my local in QLD

  • half price is nice

    • i fail to find the sale

      at my local bunnings

      • +2

        What did you find

        at your local Bunnings?

  • is it possible to switch a hammer drill to a normal drill mode?

    • -2

On a ryobi, yes. I have two.

    • yeah… pilot hole then hammer

  • +2

    13mm Hammer Drill?!

What is this… a drill for ants?!

  • How many would I need to buy to offset the cost of fuel to drive up from Vic and back? Provided I can borrow my friends mail van..

    • -5

Save your money, and buy something else. Ozito cordless drills don't have the same grunt as other brands.

      • They're not bad at all for what you pay in my experience.

If you're wanting to get through masonry, always go for a rotary hammer drill though. Just a lot nicer / easier. If you're using the right tool for the job you'll have no issues.

I use a (brushless) ozito and get through steel up to 8mm thick just fine with it, hasn't really been an issue. I've used a mates makita kit aswell and yeah, they do have a BIT more grunt but it's nothing substantial especially for your average DIY efforts. It's more the longevity of the more expensive brands I gather.

  • good to drill a few 6mm holes for red plugs here and there but not much else.

  • +2

Good deal, why the heck are they just being cleared out of one store though =/

  • Any luck at all at different stores?

      • -1

        move to chatswooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    • -1

      No what?

    • bloody devo m8 no diso spewin

  • $25 at broadmeadows vic store.

    • HOLY COW!! That is cheap.

Use my Bosch brushless hammer drill with a socket adapter on trailer winch to haul boat out of water.

  • +3

I’ve got this drill and have used it to drill 300+ 6.5mm holes in rendered brick. Hasn’t skipped a beat.

A good masonary drill bit is key. Avoid those cheap sets and spend a bit of money on what you’ll actually use

  • Anyone know if this is still in stock at Chatswood, and/or if any other stores in NSW are selling at this price?

    • +1

I've just passed by to return something, there's 3 left (possibly one more behind the counter).

      • Thank you, appreciate it.

  • +2

Got it for $50 even though it had the special price tag of $99 in Bunnings Maddington, WA. I had to show them OP's photo and they reduced it.

  • Picked one up at pakenham this morning, about 10 left
