Just watched this again recently, as nostalgic as it is, this wasn't the best movie. Had some good points. I wonder if they will cop any flack for depicting arabs as relatively mindless bands of henchmen. At least it gets the Europeans as plundering the rest of the worlds archeology part right, but I don't know that they realised at the time that would be seen as theft?

I happened to put this one a few weeks ago after my wife went to bed and I had the TV to myself and didn't intend on watching it all. But I got really into it and enjoyed it. I'm not sure they depicted arabs as that, there was that arab guy who was Indy's mate and helped him. I think it was more they were 'background people' who were locals.

Not sure if you can really read too much into the politics/culture of old movies. They were made in a different time. In a lot of old action movies, women are shown to be beauty accessories and cops are usually imbeciles.

Wonder what this show at the MSO is like - I'm interested to go with the kids.

I'm not complaining so much as I am just pointing out how different and perfectly acceptable it was back then. I grew up watching these films and loving them, but while some films age like fine wine, others are just ok, and some age badly, I think this is in the just ok camp. I'm expecting the later ones to be better

Yeah, and you're exactly right. Some old movies really show in this way hey. Even some older (e.g. 80s) music is like that. I recently got into Voices Carry by 'Til Tuesday. The clip on that has basically domestic abuse, and she's portrayed as being under his control. It's kind of unnerving. Then there's the Rolling Stones' song Under My Thumb, that's an interesting one to listen to. But I'm not sure if it's a parody though, being the RS.

I've been to quite a few live-to-projection concerts and Raiders was one of the best (the MSO last played it in 2016) - the Raiders March and Marion's Theme are great, of course, but the misterioso and religioso ark theme (notably heard in the Map Room scene) and Desert Chase really shine.
