[eBay Plus] Acer Swift 14 AI CU5-228V, 32GB DDR5, 1TB SSD, Arc 130V, 14" WUXGA OLED 400nits, TB4 $1398 Delivered @ Bing Lee eBay

Nice Lunar Lake deal with top spec RAM, Arc 130V graphics for light gaming, OLED display, Wi-Fi 7, full aluminium chassis and dual Thunderbolt 4
Intel have gone max single threaded performance for this gen with the 228V even faster than the top Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 whilst multi threaded performance is similar to the Ryzen 5 8640HS even with 4 less threads due to the removal of hyper-threading
Ignore the incorrect specs in the eBay listing - there is no 256V with 32GB RAM - as this model is extremely new and even the US does not have this 228V config yet

  • That's almost enough to make me want to sign up for eBay Plus again…

  • +1

Awesome specs. Anyone can comment on build quality?

  • I still think the ryzen 7 8845hs in my Acer 14 swift go eats this.

    • Can you comment on how the machine has held up and what your gaming experience (if you game at all) on that 780m?

    • This has 32gb of ram and maybe better battery life?

      • It most definitely has better battery life and that is the main reason you would buy this over the AMD versions (previous or current gen).

    • The 228v is about 30% slower than the 8845hs in multi threaded performance according to Passmark.

      https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/5915vs6364/AMD-Ryzen-7-…

      • So even the igpu Arc 140v is worst than 8845hs?

        • Depends on the game, because you also need to take into consideration that Radeon has better driver support than Intel at the moment.

      • Single threaded this one is better.

        • I have tested an Ultra CPU 258v and an 8845HS side by side, and you can see where the Ultra lags behind in certain tasks because it doesn't support multi-threading. No point having good single core performance when the majority of modern applications and games are geared towards more threads.

  • Fuk this is a good price.. I recently got the ryzen 7 version of this laptop with 16fb, but god this is tempting… The refresh rate and resolution isn't as good on this… But not sure I need a high refresh rate or high res anyway. This is mostly web browsing and general office usage.

I do wish it was a 2in1 though, so I could fold it up…

  • This is NOT touchscreen right?
On the Binglee website they list it as having touchscreen:

    Display

    Display Resolution: 1920 x 1200
    Screen Definition: FHD
    Screen Size (in): 14"
    Touch Screen: Yes

    https://www.binglee.com.au/products/swift-14-a1-oled-cu5-32g…

    • Nah OLED + touchscreen doesn't really seem to be a thing.

    • Dunno if you bought it but I noticed this too and there's no indication anywhere else that it is. Certainly would be able to return it at least if it isn't. If you know、please let me know.

  • Trying to work out the difference between this one and
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-swift-ai-evo-14inch-ole…

Looks like slightly different chip but close enough to not matter
Harvey norman one has a better screen (higher res 90hz oled)
