  • Had been looking on the commuter category.

    This came up:

    Different class/components (despite the RRP)

    • Belt drive!

    • Good bang for buck $999 @ 99. You will see a lot of OEM bikes on run out as they are not certified for upcoming NSW battery regulations 1 February 2025.

    • Is this a good bike, good value? I can see the discount is the biggest. I'm in the market for an entry level commuting ebike and don't know where to start.

Nice, but 12 gears on an e-Bike is a bit ridiculous, isn't it? It just makes shifting more awkward, and parts more expensive and short-lived.
I can't be the only one who uses lots of gears on a regular bike, but fewer changes on the e-Bike (yes, mid-drive with torque sensor)

For that budget, an 8-speed hub would make far more sense in an electric touring bike. Anybody seen one? :-)

  • eTouring bikes are designed for cross country multi terrain, so a 10-51T cassette covers all gear options with only a single chain ring up front. Secondly with more gears the wear and tear is spread more evenly. 10 speed is a sweet spot which the Giant Explore range use.

Apart from small 2A charger, lots of quality components for $3600 delivered.
