  • Looks similar to the Aldi version

    • +4

5 year warranty & easily replaced though.

      • +5

        And cheap batteries

    • -3

Ozito made by german company that likely makes the aldi one.

      • +14

ALDI (Ferrex) is Scheppach, Ozito is ISC/Einhell. Not quite the same but probably sourced from the same factory

  • +17

Having swappable batteries takse the range anxiety away.. anyone have a report back on the quality of the suck in the house? Wouldn't mind replacing my xaomi that does not have the endurance to do a house.

    • +15

      It seems to suck

Mine is 5 years old and its been awesome from start to now, it just does not last long enough for 4 bedrooms, it was perfect for our 2 bed apartment.

      • +1

Mine is still great….. I dont even know how old it is, one of the original ones.

  • Looks OK but the dust bin looks pretty tiny

      Looks normal to me…

    Max Suction Capacity: 100mbar
    Suction Volume: 10L/sec
    Weight: 2.2kg

      • Is that on turbo mode for both models?

        • +1

Says 'Max Suction' so I'd assume on boost - which is fairly low.
Should work ok on solid flooring, but likely to be pretty useless for carpet. Which as a powertool based vacuum seems pretty reasonable.

          • @SanguinarySeraph: Stick vacuums can't suck on carpets but rather pick up the stuff on it. I use Bissel Powerforce electric upright vacuum for rugs which does have a strong suction to get rid of microdust.

      • -2

        Dyson V6 was $250+ in 2019, this is $99…

        • +16

Yes but if the Ozito doesn't suck hard enough, it's worthless.

      • +1

I think it is due to the lower voltage battery

      • +10

Dyson V7 and V8 according to RTINGS were only 10kPa and 11kPa respectively. Perhaps Dyson overinflates their figures a little?

    • +3

The Ryobi 18V stick vacuums are better

    • +1

I bought this one for $99 a couple of years ago which has 20kpa suction

      https://www.amazon.com.au/TROUVER-POWER11-Cordless-Detachabl…

Half of that would be inadequate for most use cases.

      • +12

Can you really trust the 20kpa claimed by "Trouver"

      • +5

You still have this? Trouvergate did not reach you?

        • +1

What's Trouvergate? Mine is still working fine.

I rarely use it on full power.

        • Didn't know about any of that eh.
Mine is still working fine, but in having said that it only gets ocasionally used.
Only major problem I have is with the battery life, doesn't last very long on max settings.

      • +1

Half of that would be inadequate for most use cases.

I use the Trouver on the medium power setting most of the time. That's probably 10kpa?

      • I bought the Trouver one 2-3 years ago. the machine is still working but the motorhead is not working anymore, so useless coz can't find the replacement of the motorhead.

        • Plenty in hard rubbish collections. That's where mine went after the battery died

        • I had this problem too, I worked out that there's a spot behind the side if the roller that hair gets caught in, if you dismantle the head you will find a very tightly would bunch of hair, clear it and it's all good again. I was convinced something had died I bought a second hand head before I worked that out. In my case I couldn't see any hair at all without dismantling it

      • +2

        Trouver? Oh yeah, them.

  • This seems good to keep in the car for those with messy kids…or adults.

    • +10

I wouldn't want to keep the battery in a hot car.

    • +3

Without a flexible head it's pretty tedious to clean in a car.

  • -3

No mention of a brushless motor

    • I was wondering the same!

    • +10

      Two rules to follow -

      1. if its at the $100 price point with a battery and charger its safe to assume its not brushless

      2. if it does not mention it is brushless, assume it is not brushless. Its a pretty decent marketing point, no manufacturer is gonna let that go by the wayside.

  • that's a great price. My previous Stick Vacuum was dead because of battery. This one can use Ozito 18V directly don't even need an adopter.

    • and this also offers 5-year warranty. I may return my gen5 which is just leaving Dyson's warehouse.

    • But an adapter to use your power tools battery. Sorted. I'm using Ryobi on my Dyson.

      • +1

I bought an Ozito adapter it doesn't work. I guess the voltage is too low for dyson

        • Which Dyson? Definitely works on V6/V7/V8, beyond that I think they need a DC booster in the adapter - easy to find for other brands but not so easy for Ozito

          • @AngryAlfred: v6 I bought this one and it didn't work. waste me $26

            https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/296070312908?var=594201623056

            • @RichardF89: Did you check the SV number on the original battery? I think V6 is SV03/SV04 which isn't listed on the description under compatible models for the one you listed. Ozito batteries are definitely compatible with V6 though, maybe the model number doesn't make the difference and the issue isn't a battery. Hard to tell from here

              • @AngryAlfred: IIRC the Dyson's now use 20mm cells, not 18650s like in most batteries. They only last 6 mins or so, so heat up internally (due to intense current discharge), and probably the reason they use devent 20mm cells. Despite this, the high setting always causes temporary thermal shutdown, and is best avoided.

Most people discharge them and fully charge them immediately by replacing them in their wall-mount after use. This kills the batteries from thermal stress and dendrites forming in the insulating layers of the cells. It seems a lot of non-genuine batteries are cheap replacements which perform like a removable type on a removable tool battery-adapter.

Probably best to find a decent replacement unit and avoid charging until its cooled off. Another thing we try to do is not charge it fully until I know I want to use it- (as leaving batteries fully charged kills them faster).

The OE batteries in our V8s are all lasting and working fine with this regime. The other thing some people forget to do is change the HEPA filers- this puts more load on the motor and hence, the battery. The cheap replacements work fine and don't cost much.

                • @resisting the urge: Can you explain how you go about this regime? After vacuuming and you have a flat or nearly flat battery do you just leave it unplugged until a few hours before the next time you need to vacuum and only then charge it? Or do you partially charge it after its cooled and then top it up to full just before the next vac session?

                  • @tenpercent: Yes, just leave it a few hours. And store it in a cool place.

However I also try not to charge it immediately- its a regime I use with all LiIon batteries, as they eat themselves up when fully energised. Keeping them cool at all times also helps because they eat themselves faster, the hotter they are- especially when charging.

                • +3

@resisting the urge: This is the main reason I now use the 5.2ah Ozito with it instead of the 4ah, they use 20650 cells and the V8 runs a lot better with the 5.2 - especially when I need to put it up to high speed it doesn't cut out anywhere near as much. The 2.5ah batteries they sell for $20 also use the same 20650 cells in a 5S vs the 5S2P of the 5.2ah but I've never actually bothered to test how it compares

                  • @AngryAlfred: Ah that makes sense, thanks for your comment. I didn't realist Ozito had moved using 20650 also. Else how could they have gone from claiming 1.5 to 2.5AH. How they do this using 2100MAH cells however…

                    • @resisting the urge: Yep, I cracked a 2.5ah open the other day and had a look trying to see how justifiable it was to buy a bunch of batteries at $20 to strip down, they're using Topway 2600mah 20650 cells

                      I found them here

                      • @AngryAlfred: Just because they say 2600mAH, doesn't mean they are. Would be interesting to test the cells in a new one.

In europe the same batteries (Einhell) are advertised as 18V instead of 21V as they are here. Given that the cells are marked 3.7V/2600mAH, the manufacturer claim of 2.5AH for the battery they build is reasonable- but we must assume the cells they use actually have that capacity.

                        • +1

@resisting the urge: I'm inclined to believe it, Einhell is plastered all over the Mercedes F1 cars, I don't think they'd mess around with fake capacities, and they're all advertised as 18v nominal here which is 21v anyway at 4.2*5 when fully charged. Regardless I do plan to pick up one of those battery monitor charger things that can discharge and monitor the capacity as it recharges.. maybe one day someone will post a deal here haha

My Ozito adapter is a game changer. It depends whom you are buying from. My old and good Dyson was about to be thrown away because of lack of batteries. I got an adapter for Ozito batteries. I have 2 Ozito batteries, they are cheap, now my Dyson is better than when I bought it, is has swappable batteries.

          • @Bluering48: may I know where did you buy it?

          • @Bluering48: Do you have a link to the adaptor please.
I have the same issue with my Dyson stick vac and it was heading to the bin.

            • @Oz em: Search on Ebay the adapters are pretty cheap. the one i bought a year or two ago is still going strong, and the adapter actually fits in the holder(minus battery) which is pretty cool or them to make fit.

        • I guess the voltage is too low for dyson

I use a Makita battery (which is also 18V nominal) with my Dyson v10. It stops working when the battery goes down to ~50%, but other than that it's fine.

      • +1, improvement in performance IMO to my V6 Animal

  • Thanks OP, this is pretty timely.

I was just looking at buying the 2 in 1 but apparently this is better?

Want to use it purely as a car vacuum

  • What was the normal price? Also is this a new model? No reviews.

    • +1

Sometimes Ozito have promotional products so perhaps it is that

      • i reckon its this tbh

i got a ryobi multitool some years ago for black friday, but there is no reference to it when googling the part number

  • Does it take standard Ozito batteries?

    • +1

      Yes

  • How's this compared to the stuff on kogan.com their branded Kogan vacumnss?

    • -1

      lol

    • +1

was wondering the same, Kogan has this: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-z11-pro-cordless-stick-va…

25kpa compared to 10kpa for Ozito?

      • +3

I have a feeling suctiongate is going to be the next big thing. Where the suction is being measured from, is the dust bin full, and is it measured from turn on and for how many minutes after turn on etc. Does it maintain the suction steadily after turn on or does it drop off rapidly after 1minute. Does suction diminsh heavily when half full. I want to see suction level across runtime graphed as well as dust bin level! NO JUST SOME MADE UP KPA NUMBER FOR MARKETING!!
This has such a flashlight or projector ansi lumens vibe about it.

      • yeah that's the one I been looking at. decent battery life on low as on the image.

sooo wonder how it compares indeed.

      • Soon we'll be talking about chinese kpas like we do for lumens on torches.

        • +1

Are you trying to tell me my 5usd 34 million lumen torch is fake?

    • I have tried couple of Kogan brand sticks vacuums, they do suck, but they dont swallow, they spit it out when truned off..:-), for eg if you are trying to cleanip scattered cereals on the floor, it cannot reach the the catchment bin…and as soon as you turn it off, it comes out…(i used them while ago,not sure if they are better now…)..

      • do u use another cordless vacuum now?

        • Not stick vacuum anymore..( i use those standing bushpan thingi) but i use deebot N8 every weekend.. and it does good job…

  • +3

I wish PXC made a 36V stick vac.

    • -5

Too heavy for women due to less upper body strength.

  • +1

I ordered one of these to try. I have one of these already too.
Might put it up against my Dyson V6 Animal and see if its worth not bothering replacing the battery in the Dyson again. I have like 10 PXC batteries already, maybe the 5.2v ultras will work ok in this?

    • +2

if you have a V6, just get an Einhell/Ozito battery adapter for Dyson and use your ozito batteries on it. works great.

      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006371974573.html?spm=a2…

      • I was actually going to make one and use a DC-DC boost circuit to keep it at optimal voltage. Ended up just getting a repacked one with sony VTC6 18650's and was just easier cheaper. Maybe next time I'll bother going through with it. Have too many vacuums as it is though. Dyson was just convient because it charges in its docking cradle. You kinda take that away converting it unfortunately.

        • +1

          Couple of things.

1."Dead" Dyson batteries are normally perfectly fine. The cells get out of balance and the BMS shuts it down.

Crack it open, charge each cell. Either reflash the BMS, or buy one from Ali Express. Good to go.

          1. The Dyson dock is rubbish. Make your own out of PVC pipe, and have the vac go flat against the wall as it should. Doesn't matter what battery is in it then.
        • +1

Unless properly done (not simply using a $3 piece of electronics LM3586), boost converters increase the Voltage, but heavily impact the current, usually capped at 3A for safety reasons… So, a 66W Dyson, it would suck for all the wrong reasons!

Power In must equal Power out somehow (ignoring inherent linear conversion efficiency losses)…

I hate to be the one to say this, but it's important it's said. You so not want to be in the same room as a battery pack in thermal runaway - close the door and runaway yourself if you have any chance.

Don't mess with electronics, especially when lithium batteries are involved, unless your electrical theory knowledge is derived from formal education, or extensive experience. Piecing together items you think you need because you read it online can end in disappointment if you're lucky, or disastrously if you were to compromise a lithium cell in some manner.

      • @fruitloafer I can't see Ozito in your AliExpress link.

        • +1

It's the Einhell one, the Ozito PXC range is rebadged Einhell products.

      • Wish I thought to look overseas before buying (then breaking) then buying another $60 Ryobi adapter… In its defense it's much leaner than the regular ones, but not $52 x2 (injection moulded plastic would have survived the fall that broke the first 3D printed version I purchased).

Buying one now as backup! Cheers!

  • +2

Still using my Xiaomi Dream V9P from 2020. I only do small cleanups with it but the battery seems to holding up for now. Motor brush head could use a replacement though, and I'm sure the battery would nearly be finished.

Thinking of investing in this, versus chasing down Dreame spare parts (what's that like)?

Ozito spec sheet says spares can be ordered from the Special Orders desk

    • I have thought of a Xiaomi one. Do you recommend?

  • Would it be any good for cleaning the car?

    • +2

Be annoying without a flexible hose IMO

      • Good point.
I think I’ll get the wet dry one mentioned.

  • +2

Could this replace a Dyson v6? Emptying the bin in the v6 is such a pain

  • +9

I've got one of these and it's fine for small cleanups, or for floorboards/tiled areas. The carpeted areas look clean, but only on the surface because if I do a pass over the same area with my normal floor vac, it still sucks up heaps of stuff.

Certainly convenient vs dragging the heavy wheeled monstrosity around though.
