      Thanks that's useful info

    • That's why they do those adds cos they all get more when u go over it 😂

    • +1

Do you have pets by any chance? If so, how does it go with the fur?

    • +1

I have this one. Its pretty good for what it is, suction is ok too. I bought an extension pole for it and then a cheap floor tool off amazon and and used it in place of my Dyson V6 when its battery died while I was waiting on a new battery to ship. Only crap thing about it is finding bags that fit that are in stock, my only real gripe.
I have used it more for construction stuff as a dust extractor (it fits on a lot of ozito tools dust outlets) and gets pretty manky for using inside. Also good for vacuuming ash out of the bottom of the Kamado.

      • +1

Where do you buy replacement dust bags for these? Literally forgot I had one of these in the garage that I could use for the car instead and need to order some more bags

        • +1

I just use whatever bags physically fit. I don't bother trying to source the original ones anymore.
I'm sure I've used at least 4 different types over the years.

      • +1

iirc many of the reviews criticised the bags being special order only via bunnings.
some youtube reviews i saw just said dont both with the bag and just clean it out with a hose or similar now and then…

i plan to use it on site and for car clean up duties.

        • +1

I have a vax and just empty the bag and reuse but I was using no bag for a while and had no problems.

    • +2

i honestly have wanted the $89 for my car for ages but just waiting for it to go on sale (i dont think it ever has). it just looks so much easier to use in tight spaces.
bonus is you can also attach it to a sander or circular saw to suck up all the saw dust debris.

      • ive been watching it for at least 3 months, and yes no sale.
typically though it will only go on sale if aldi have a similar option…

        tight spaces

this model interested me over the hand or stick vac options as you can set to blow mode, and it will just blow out the dust etc for tricky spots where a hose cant reach

i have a ryobi wet dry shop vac already, its great but its mega loud, and the cord shits me to tears.

    • +1

The wet dry has more sucking power and dust capacity, plus the wet function, so for cleaning cars I'd choose the wet dry over the stick.

For indoor hard surfaces I'd choose this stick vac over the wet dry for ease of use and convenience.

      • +1

        No it doesn't. 80mbar vs 100mbar. (Stick)

        • Ah, yes, you're correct. I was looking at the manual for the other Ozito hand vacuum by mistake.

I'd still go with the wet/dry for the car due to the larger dust capacity and wet/dry function

      • +3

Wet/dry you can also buy a cheap brush head that turn it into a spot vac, perfect for car mats and the boot. I'd probably go with the cheap corded $59 Ozito vac though, or the 36v pxc one. I have the 18v pxc 20L and it's a bit underwhelming

        • Yeah I agree.

    • I wouldn't waste my time on something like this being battery powered personally. What are the odds of you doing a wet dry vac without a powerpoint nearby?

      • +1

My car port often gets blocked by leopard tree leaves, and very often gets clumped up with big clumps of wet and decaying leaves, so actually this would come in handy for me personally to get it out of the gutter as I can’t easily fit hand or scoops in there the way the carport was built.

        • +2

For that specific use that wet dry vacuum will clog up in the first 30 seconds. Wet dry vacs of this nature are made for cleaning fabrics and getting gunk out of seats, not picking up decaying leaves. I would be looking at one of those blowers with a reverse function. I guarantee this will be a waste of time for you.

If its just for cars it will work, but usually one cleans a car in a single location, I would invest in a $20 extension cable and grab a corded wet dry vac, generally more powerful, larger capacity and you don't have to worry about running out of power. I would only recommend a battery wet dry vac for a professional car detailer and it wouldn't be an ozito one at that rate.

      • +1

My kids are more likely to vacuum the car if they don’t have to bother getting a cord from the garage.

  • Is this also sold as skin only? Many of us already have plenty of ozito batteries/chargers….

  • Does anyone have one of these? I'm wondering if they have the same terrible design with the power cables running through the flexible point at the head which will aways end up breaking (repeat flex in same spot).
    Dyson for reference: https://imgur.com/a/yfBjQB8

    • Check it out here https://www.isc-gmbh.info/en_DE/sparepart/234718001953/23471…

Looks like the power runs through the rim of the tube which I've seen on the Dreame vacs, I've also seen it break on those vacs and had to manually run wires down anyway to get it working again. Just a common fault in powered heads regardless of design

      • Hmm, I guess it's to be expected with cheaper stick vacuums but for some of the more expensive Dyson's it would be nice to see them comes up with an alternative solution that doesn't break with 1yr of moderate use. Maybe it's more difficult to design than I'm imagining, but I though a thin, flat, flexible piece of copper that can bend with the ball joint would do it

        • Yeah I don't reckon it's an issue of can it be done haha, I imagine Dyson's probably in the business of having their $200 power heads fail after a year or two on purpose. Why buy a whole new vacuum for $600 when the head is only $200 to replace (if you go OEM which I'm sure a lot do)?

I've never actually seen inside the head until your pic, it actually looks pretty clean, probably just some kind of strain relief added to the current setup and the fault would be gone, but I can see why they don't want to do that

          • @AngryAlfred: Funnily enough I've had 2 heads and 2 batteries replaced at no cost so it seems Dyson just eat it if you ask their support about it (in Australia at least, not sure if they would do that in other countries with less strenuous consumer protection)

  • +5

Got excited by this but then checked the manual and specs:
    10mbar = 10kpa.
For comparison the ALDI ferrex version of this that I have is 20kpa.

Ferrex version is brushless, ozito I assume not as they don't mention it anywhere.

Sure the ALDI one cost $99 skin only, but I'd rather twice the power than a free battery and charger.

The ALDI ferrex version is very very similar in appearance except lacks the trigger switch that ozito has.

I'll pass and wait for aldi to sell the ferrex one instead

    • No, 1 mbar = 0.1kPa

  • +3

You don't have to hold in the trigger to vacuum like Dyson V6

  • +1

Thanks OP ordered one hopefully good for a quick touch ups when kids have too much crap lying around to put the Roborock on.

    Another battery is a bonus.

  • Pretty good price for it.

I converted an Electrolux stick vacuum cleaner (the type that sell for $200) to run on drill batteries, and that's been working well. People chuck them out all the time because the battery dies. I had to sacrifice a drill to get the stalk part of it for the battery to attach. It uses about 5amps, or 100watts, so its fairly light duty for a drill battery and you can vacuum for an hour pretty easily.

    • +1

Was your Electrolux one 18v to begin with? Most cordless vacs are 24v (6S 18650) vs ozito 5s configuration.

      • +3

Yep 5 cells. Hardest part was creating a resistor network to fool the voltage detection circuit into thinking the cells are balanced, otherwise it turns on for 2 seconds then turns off. Weirdly the motor isn't 18v but 12v.

        • Why aren't they just balanced?

Alternatively, can't just route all BMS inputs to the same cell? Ie. They are all monitoring cell 3… Always perfectly balanced ;)

          • +1

@tunzafun001: There's typically 5 wires inside the Electrolux Ergorapido vac that I used.
Ground, Positive, and then the balance wires for cells 2 3 4, so it wouldn't work I'm afraid. You'd have wires shorted together.

It would have been easier, as doing it my way requires very precise matched resistors, and resistors change if they get heated up too much (say by soldering them). I had to sort through a bag of 10k resistors to find 5 that were within 5ohm of each other. Any more than that and the voltage divider circuit won't be equal.

I'm sure there's a cheap thing you could buy off Ali that does the job better, but I couldn't find it. It probably would be easier to just swap the cells over with fresh ones, but I wanted a drill battery attachment as drill batteries charge so much faster and don't get as stressed.

It's just amazing to see all these $200 vacuums get thrown away, when all they need is a way to connect a drill battery (and a couple of resistors). Makes me regret not buying a bunch of the $29 Ozito Whipper snippers+battery combo back then

            • +7

@outlander: The E waste should be a HUGE fine.

I'm currently trying to collect 100 x 18650's for an Ebike repack.

              I've been given a few "dead Dyson's"

Everyone of them has had batteries with 2000mAh+ minimum (ie. Basically good as new). They are 100% functional ..except the BMS shuts them down. Only the BMS is active for cell monitoring. Cell balancing is there, but not connected. They have purposely sabotaged the longevity!

I'd give Dyson a multi billion $$ fine, and ban the business from trading for 6 months. We can't keep doing this sort of stuff.

              Yet EVERYONE buys a Dyson…

            • +1

@outlander: Was wondering if you had any links for tutorials on how one would be able to do this? Got one of those Electrolux ergorapido and the battery is pretty much dead but don't wanna throw it away as it's still a pretty decent vacuum when it works. Thanks!

              • @Ueki23: Couldn't find anything when I looked last time. If I end up doing another one I'll take a few pictures and link you to it.

In general it's pretty easy. You just need a battery adapter for ozito/ferex or whatever your using. Then you open up the vac, remove all the dead cells, and wire in the adapter, positive to positive negative to negative.

Then you take a bunch of 1% or better 10k resistors, test them, and pick the closest 5 values. Then solder them together in series, and connect them between the positive and negative to create a simple voltage divider. Then connect all the balance wires to their appropriate places.

Hardest part is really epoxying the battery adapter into place. If you don't place it just right, the dust buster won't fit into the stickvac shell part.

  • How are people buying these? are you paying the $10 delivery fee?

Look at the negative ones first

    • Does this one use Ozito battery?

      • Yes . It's the same vacuum but International version

    • Bad ones don't exactly inspire any confidence

  • +6
    • +1

Yeh, not bad. You should post that as a deal.

      • If i wasnt too lazy

    • +3

They seem like a good deal and by most accounts a good product, but every time I read that name all I can think is it's the onomatopoeia of blowing bubbles in the bath.

    • +1

What are you going to do if the battery dies? I got a dream for $99 many years ago battery died in less than a year

  • The battery of our 8 year old Bosch athlete is on its last legs,
Will look to buy one of the new Ryobi One+ vacs in a few months, but this may do then job for the time being, and then I have a spare for garage or elsewhere.

  • Just received mine, took the hit and bought fast delivery from OnePass.

Seems OK, it's a little long but I'm a short arse. Suction is a little low, but "turbo" seems decent.

Good enough to replace the crappy old dustbuster we had.

  • +5

I just bought one and tested it. The suction power in boost mode is good, and it feels no worse than Dyson. I have v6, v7, and v10, but the power consumption is very fast in boost mode. Fortunately, batteries are cheap, and people with ozito tools must have a lot of batteries, so power consumption should not be a problem. Ozito has a five-year warranty, which is very reliable. It's just that the build quality of the vacuum cleaner is average. It feels like it will break within three years. Haha. Personally, I think it's worth buying.

    • What size batteries did you use and did you happen to time how long the boost mode lasts?

      • Sorry I don't have an exact calculation, I used the 2.5Ah battery to vacuum car seats and carpets, I didn't pay attention to the remaining power, and it ran out of power before I finished vacuuming. I estimate that it should be less than ten minutes using boost mode, will test it again when i have time. It will be better to use a battery of 4Ah or more.

    • Does it come with a dock or wall mount?

      • +1

        It has a wall holder

    • +2

I just found out that this vacuum can use the Dyson v6 non-powered attachments via an adapter! Perfect for cleaning cars.
Bunnings has the adapter too: https://www.bunnings.com.au/adaptor-32mm-to-dyson-dc05-dc07-…

  • +1

    "Don't accept Dyson quality"… That's a low bar to aim for…

All my Ozito tools have been much better than the "Die soon"

    • Only written because people in these comments are whinging about the suction on a $99 vacuum not being as high as a Dyson

      • Ah I see. .that sux ..or doesn't.

        I consider a Dyson a kids toy…if it isn't even at that…give it a miss.

  • Can the drill hammer do everything this one can do plus masonry or its really a case of you need different drills for different jobs?

    • Yes, this certainly makes short work of masonry drilling and thats certainly for certain.
But if being serious and in the wrong thread, hammer drill will do all the same stuff, just not set in hammer mode. When set in hammer mode will also do masonry drilling, so if you found a hammer drill in same torque spec/quality as a regular drill you are better off with the hammer drill in nearly all cases.

  • Is this half as powerfully or only 25% power suction?

  • A this price definitely worth a go. Bought one for a friend and one for myself for use in the garage,

I already have the other one OP linked to and am pretty unimpressed with it. My Makita 12v vac is better. Will just sell it and the battery & charger from the new kit on FB Hopefully will only end up $20-$30 out of pocket.

  • Spend abit more and get the best..

DeWALT 18V XR Li-ion Cordless L-Class Handheld Stick Vacuum DCV501LN-XJ
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-18v-xr-li-ion-cordless-l-…

    • Dewalt has 21 L/s suction volume. This one has 10L/sec.
    • The flexi hose makes a big difference when doing tight areas + car. Don't think one is even included in this?
    • Portable sawdust extractor. You can connect a saw/drill to this unit (check Y! videos for usage guide)
    • It's got a floor head like the others but it also has a WIDE brush head
    • It has a Belt clip! see why this matters: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iPPljcbayps
Why would I need a belt clip? Imaging holding a 2-3kg vac when you could just be holding the hose head to clean cupboards, racks, etc. Even with other models having flexible hoses, the lack of an integrated belt clip means you end up holding the vac AND the hose. With the belt clip you can use one hand to move stuff out of the way and the other hand to direct the hose!
    • Battery last about 20mins on a 5ah battery.
  • I just picked up one. I am pleasantly surprised that the vacuum port is sort of a standard port, it can use all my old Dyson V6 accessories via an adaptor I purchased ages ago. (The adapter came for free with the red V10 to grey V6 adapter, they just gave an extra one to allow generic vacuums to use grey V6 attachment).

Edit: This vacuum has standard 32mm port so you can just search "32mm To Dyson" and buy a V6 or V10 adapter, and use your Dyson attachments, including flexible hose and other stuff.

    • +1

      How is the suction power?

      • +1

I feel it's at the level of Dyson v6 without any attachment. No match to Dyson v10.
The motorised head feels quite cheap though. but overall a good purchase.

  • +4

Picked one up last night- thoughts:

    Good
Suction on boost very good. Sucks down hard to cause resistance while pushing on carpet. Suction better than my old Xiaomi g20
Despite the strong suction it isnt overly loud.
I have lots of batteries so can run boost mode always

    Bad:
    Feels light weight
The power heads isnt overly wide.
The waste canister is smallish and will have to be emptied a few times in a big house with pets.

    So far so good. Recommended

    • +3

Indeed. I bought one as soon as deal was posted. Bought another the following day. Too many people getting caught up in claimed specs of other vacs.
So many good points about this especially the batteries in the ozito pxc ecosystem.

  • Anyone got any honest (non fanboy) reviews of this unit?

Keen to know how it compares to a Dyson V6/7/8 or lg cordzero.

Paper specs dont look great but I'm looking for an excuse to try this out

  • +1

For those that are interested, I got mine today. Plugged in a fresh 4.0AH battery. Not too bad.

As a comparison, I have a Dyson V7, and on high setting, just by feel and comparison on hard floor, carpet and a low nap rug, this feels about 70-75 percent of the Dyson. Not too bad in my opinion. Certainly good enough for the average quick clean up.

Definitely worth $99 or even a little more. Definitely far batter suction than the Target cordless vac I bought a couple of years back, and returned due to a failed battery after just 2 months.

Plus I have plenty of batteries, so runtime is not ever going to be an issue. My V7 on high only gets around 6 to 7 minutes. Which to be fair is enough for my small area if I am quick..

  • Is it easy to empty this thing? I struggle with my old hoover stick

    • +1

I found it very easy, slide switch - pops open, most crap comes out - then there's also a steel filter you can clean by hand and an synthetic one inside that - but I think both could be best done with a hit inside to out with a blower.

@edrift feels it's not easy to empty, so don't take what i say as gospel - he has more experience with stickvax than myself too.

Regardless at $99 with 5yr legit warranty - its very good value.

      • Do you detach the bin from the main unit first?
I liked the fact you can detach the bin from the main unit, then empty the bin with the latch. Makes it WAY easier than something like Dyson V6.

        • So there's two options
The nicely designed slide switch that is better than the Dyson V6 design.
It would be perfect except for the inner prefilter has this protrusion that stops the waste falling out freely.
So then the second option is to disconnect the whole canister which is also very easy to do compared to the Dyson V6.

  • +4

FWIW bought three of these yesterday (one for ourselves, one for mother and one for elderly friend who has several dying Dyson's) - everyone was very impressed with it.

Build quality is good, design is simple, easy to use, ECO power is ok for basic hard floors, boost is very good, turbo brush head defintitely handy and the PED lights actually are handy as well.

Only tried with older 2aH battery I had onhand, does chew through the power but no dramas - would expect it would benefit from a 4aH one etc if you have. Nice centre of balance and easy to use, access to filters is easy and should be simple to maintain.

At $99 is a very good buy - strongly recommend if you can get and especially if you have PxC gear already.

  • +7

Ok I couldn't resist the urge and bought one, despite me saying I wouldn't.

Here's a mini review, comparing the 4 cordless stick vacs I currently own:
    Ferrex brushless
Ozito brushed (the one in this post)
    LG cordzero
    Anko/eufy one (white one)

The ozito one has a comically small floor head.
The accessories it comes with look cheap - similar to the eufy/anko one.
The ozito looks in theory easy to empty the bin, but in practice it's not as you end up having to disassemble the whole thing as the dust and hair sticks to the metal mesh prefilter.
The ozito is very loud, like the anko/eufy, because it's using a brushed motor that sounds like it's being over worked, but extremely fast. Brushless motors of the LG and ferrex are far quieter and refined.
The noise alone gives me concerns of the longevity, however I own 4 other ozito cordless vacs (2 wet dry, 2 dust buster) and they have been fine, even after fair abuse of them.

    Performance:
Forget about using any vacuum on low power modes - you may as well not clean if doing that.
On highest settings using the floor attachment on carpet the unscientific impression is that from highest suction to lowest:
LG best… But irrelevant because the battery cannot sustain this for more than a minute
Ozito second. Surprisingly good feel, possibly because the floor head is so small, it concentrates the suction.
Ferrex third. On paper specs show it should be twice as good as ozito (more on this in a minute).
    Eufy/anko forth…

All tests were conducted with empty bins.

Back to the on paper specs:
Ozito 10kpa and 10L/min flow rate vs Ferrex 20kpa and 11L/min flow rate.
When. I tested the vacuums feeling the suction directly from the unit (wand off), the ferrex was far more powerful. I suspect it's real world performance on flooring is let down because it has a medium sized floor head, possibly with not the greatest seal.

Will the ozito clean your carpets like an entry level Dyson? I would say yes… But…
It'll take twice as long because of the small head, and it's noisy as hell.

What would the ozito be good at?
Probably cleaning crevices of furniture as their attachment is pretty unique. Might do ok for cars too as it's definitely more powerful that the ozito Dustbusters I have.

Should you buy the ferrex or ozito?
I still haven't made my mind up. Both are the same price, but ferrex is skin only and aldi are renouned for only selling once a year.
Ferrex probably better for hard floors and ozito for carpets.

      @edrift

Good review - only thing I had an qualms with was saying the Ozito was hard to empty - I found it super simple - go outside, push the latch, springs open - out falls 90% of the crap - sure some might be around the steel filter but can remove by hand or better still do the internal filter as well by opening and then using a blower to push outwards.

Tad surprised you say the head size on the Ozito is so small - looks very similar to the others in your pix but even a cm or so is significant I guess.

      Again great review.

      • Have you tried detaching the bin then emptying seperately? I found that way easier. Only have to carry around the bin to empty it.

        • Yep that works well too.

      • +1

I guess it depends what you vacuumed up. The slide switch to open the waste bin is the best design I've seen on any stick vac I've owned. It was just let down by the filter stopping everything falling out nicely.
I had sucked up a lot of hair and dust, which wrapped itself around the steel filter and had to be removed by hand by taking off the entire bin cannister.

If it were just dust and no hair, I think it would work well.

  • +5

Thanks, I click and collected one of these since I've already got so much ozito shit.

Just vacuumed my house with a 4ah in it, went fine good suction. I have all floorboards but it handled all floor matts and some large rugs really well too.

The extra battery charger and battery is handy anyway, so for $100 this was a no brainer.

Will see how it goes though. The head is fkn tiny though.

  • What is the normal price? Wondering how much I'm saving since it's a new product and has no price history. Got one for C&C.

    • Normally the price increases significantly after launch.

I'm guessing it's probably be closer to $200 as a kit.

  • This has become the norm now, each time there is a promotion sale on an item, that same item is missing in action in whole WA.

  • +2

Bought one today and tried vacuuming my two cars—works better than I expected! The turbo mode is impressive, and the size is quite manageable for car use. It comes with a flexible nozzle, but I found the short brush attachment works better. Overall, no complaints for the price. It would be even better if there were a skin-only option at a lower price (I already have too many batteries and chargers).

  • +1

Thanks OP, got one up. Works well on carpet - picks up more than a 36V Karcher BV5/1. Narrow vacuum head is probably why.
