On this, I did what any ozbargainer would do though, got the email link, skipped that and went straight to hello kitty, put in cart and tested for mistakes in application of the discount. No dice.

You're probably just speaking generally because what you're wishing costs thousands upon thousands of hours. That being said, it's a tuned guitar - ie, unless you're bending a note, you're relying on the guitar to make the tone and thus, being tone deaf is not completely game over.
A lot of so called tone deaf people are just people who haven't exercised a muscle that they begin life with, quite untrained. Some people more than others.
Granted, getting out of that hole is a bit of a trial but playing a guitar is a great way to correct that.

It’s a player, so MIM - but those factories are so close together the line is getting pretty blurred
The pickup does make a difference. Though at the end of the day its the player

Agree. I haven't played a JVM tele before but they sound great from the videos I've watched.
I was actually planning on picking up a Squier Jaguar over the new year and road test some guitars, however the Meteora worked out the same price as a Squier so it was a no brainer. However if any of the MIJ, Vintera, or Kurt Cobain jaguars come on sale…I might have to make a panic call to Fender to see if I can change the order.
Also it looks like they keep adding guitars and basses to their Black Friday sale, up to 50% off if you wanted to update this deal, or add it as a new deal.

Not received yet, tracking also seems quite minimal
I found tracking info pretty streamlined too.
Mine was with FedEx/TNT, so your package should be safe and arrive pretty quickly.
My experience so far with this…Although it shipped out on 28 Nov, it only arrived Mon 9 Dec. Apparently TNT attempted to deliver it to my house but no one was home…they also didn't leave a note. I was home most days and I also have doorbell camera. They definitely never showed up, it's probably been stuck in a drivers van for a week. However credit to Fender for following up with TNT and getting it to me.
In terms of the guitar itself, it doesn't appear to have any grounding/wiring issues many people have reported. Quality and finish was excellent. I had mine QCd by 'Pedro'.
I have it booked in for a proper set-up and inspection (especially the wiring) in Jan.
I was a little nervous purchasing it without testing this model, however that quickly evaporated after I started playing it. Given it was built in July 22, the top two strings immediately broke. However the tone of the guitar is great, especially when set to the neck pick-up. It was a good purchase in the end.
