  • Beat me to it by 1 minute, we must've checked emails at the same time.

Just ordered 1, hoping it arrives before Xmas :)

    • Yeah I've had a bit of a nightmare with this: ordered the first round, waited a couple of months and eventually cancelled my backorder. Then when it came back in stock I was away but still tried ordering it via PayPal which decided to not let me login in my mobile. By the time I reached a PC it was on backorder again :-/
But at least this time I left it in backorder so should be shipped soon hurray!

      • Well I hope they have fulfilled your backorder before making stock available online..

      • Yeah I talked with their support and they said it is already in the printing queue and should be dispatched very soon.

    • +1

I ordered last deal and it came within 4days. Superquick!!

Still on the bench havnt use it yet.

      • Wow, last time I ordered it took 4 months. They only sent it after I told them it was back in stock.

  • Are replacement tips available for this unit?

    • Hakko 936 clone, hakko/clone tips fit
      Edit hakko 936 not 939

  • im still waiting on mine to be shipped - 3 weeks now..

    • i got mine within about 1 week

  • +1

ha ha ha this deal again.. mine's took months to arrive and it's still sitting in the box… havne't used yet..

  • thanks just grabbed one, I don't know why though but I did buy one.

rhetorical question - because you're an ozbargainer - the force is strong

    • +2

Yeah a work mate told me yesterday that just by frequenting this site it means I am addicted to consumerism.

  • Isn't that a saving of 90c?

    • +2

The deal here is that it is in stock, not the price if you wait. It will sell out very quickly if previous deals are any indication.

  • Came to US$24.73, so according to Google that's AU$23.47, bargain!

    • +1

      Cheers, updated price in title.

  • Maybe this is a stupid question, but what is the advantage of a soldering 'station' over a handheld 60W temperature adjustable iron that I can get delivered for $10?

    • Its pretty much the same thing init for all intents and purposes?

Already ordered this one but link to the $10 one you speak of please :)

      • +1

Technically a station regulates temperature much better than those cheap nasty adjustable irons..

Mind you I would pay more money for a better quality soldering station. This one looks like a copy of a chinese brand Aoyue

So its like poop that has been eaten and pooped out again?

        • I agree - they are supposed to regulate temperature better. Usually the bit you hold is lighter as well, and then there is the stand and sponge, which a handheld does not usually come with. Although these are cheap items to get standalone as well, they are quite useful.

      • I bought this one a few years ago and it's been quite good. Mostly I just miss having a stand for it (but they are only $2 on eBay, so I should just buy one).

the dealextreme mascot is doing gangnam style…

    • simply these regulate the heat where as the cheap "hand held" type dont.

depending on what your soldering you need to keep the heat down (circuit boards etc) but once you actually start soldering you need the iron to power up again to keep the tip hot enough to flow the solder. if you use the hand held ones for a while (an hour or 2 at a time) you burn the solder/flux and you cant get a good joint. IC's can also be destroyed by to much heat.

    • i'm interested in getting one of these since i used to have a full sized aoyue reflow station and was great.
      problem was the space.
this would be smaller but an adjustable iron would be even better (for the kind of work I do) use for simple stuff once every 6 months.

anyone knows a good adjustable iron?

  • Pretty sure it didn't sell out last time? I remember checking it a few days after it was posted and it was still up.

    • It stays up but stock turns into "backorder". See my comment above, I assure you they did run out quickly in previous times (you can check out comments in past posts too).

    • Quickly being a relative term of course… ;-)

  • Finally I got a chance to order one! Hopefully I'll be able to make good use of it.

  • Ordered, but it's not $24.73 anymore.

    Your order details are:
1x #Sold-ST-AUS/19239 Soldering Station with Adjustable Heat Range (AUS Warehouse) = 16.64

    Paypal Express
AusPost eParcel Basic 2kg (NSW Warehouse) USD8.99

    Taxes: USD000

    Total: USD25.63

    • You have to wait 5-10 minutes before you get the prompt, price will change to 15.74 not 16.64.

I just ordered and it is 24.73.

  • Given the months of dramas I (and others) had trying to get one of these a while back, I'd be very wary of dealing with these guys.

That said, if anyone wants to get rid of one they got and don't want… I'd rather deal with someone who physically has one, than deal with a shop who has a warehouse that may or may not potentially have stock. Sometime.

  • Received my dispatch notice this morning, looks promising!

  • arrived this mornig… gotta be happy with the turn around.
    thanks OP.

    • Ditto, very happy.

    • got mine. a lot faster than I was expecting. now I just need to find something to solder, and some solder.
