        • Maybe both email and credit cards.

Multiple transactions on the same credit card is a flag for fraud.

    • I don't think they do. I just placed 2 orders, same email address - total across both orders still under max $ limit though (<$2.5K). First order was just to check which card would work.

  • Anyone had any luck purchasing with a Australia Post prepaid Mastercard?

  • Disabled uBO, went through for Westpac CC first time round, received all in 5 minutes

  • anyone know if its $2500 per day order limit??

    • offer ends today at 5pm.

but you should be able to get more today with different payment cards and emails?

  • Worked great, got 5x500, on mobile, ANZ cc. OTP prompt came through straight away. Got gift cards in email inbox in about 10mins and added all to Amazon account successfully.

  • Bought 600$ worth of GCs and still contemplating if I should get more while I can

    • Imo yes.

I bought $2,500 because I probably will not use them all for the next 5 years but there is no expiry and I'll have 10% off for a while.

Also, maybe a big value item you want gets discounted in the future.

10% off Amazon does not happen often

      • +1

        Username checks out!

      • +3

You’d be better keep the money in your HISA or offset account then. Keeping the gift cards for 5 years will effectively be more than twice as worse than the original 10% discount.

        • +1

I can't do HISA for personal reasons anyway.

You make fair points though, a lot better ways to use the cash.

I will very very likely spend it way before the 5 years are even close to up.

I imagine if I am being honest with myself probably in 2 years especially if I want to upgrade something big and Amazon has a good sale going on

Also I'm going to be using it throughout so it isn't gonna stay at 2.5k

      • Buy enough for a year tops. At a certain point it's better to keep your money and earn interest / protect yourself from interest via offset

      • If you leave $2000 in your savings for 5 years it eill bring you $500 interest

        • Less up to 50% in taxes , loan offset would be better

    • Just looked at your purchase history if you ever(and how often) you make a big purchase at Amazon. Last time I bought $500 worth of GC at Amazon, it takes me around 1 year to spent it all up as I'm only buying groceries and some small appliances, which makes the 10% discount not as great as it may seems. For tech related deal at Amazon, I usually just price match it with JB hifi and JB GC is on sale quite often.

  • Worked for me with Amex. Took a few minutes for code to be emailed through but now applied

  • Loader spins endlessly when on the Payment details section…

    • Having the same issue as well :(

      • +1

Try disabling the adBlocker extension in your browser ;)

        • This worked for me

        • Thanks! Just used my phone to purchase instead.

  • Wish this promo started a few days later when my ANZ CC would show up, Commbank CC would not work so had to use BoQ debit card.

    • ANZ QFF CC failed for me.

  • +4

Needless to say, add the gift card to your Amazon account asap.

  • bought $2500 through St George and Chrome Browser - worked first time. Arrived 5 min later in email, and now applied to Amazon account. What a deal!

  • Has anybody tried to pay with Coles MasterCard gift cards?

    • I haven't but I read it doesn't work

      ( Due to fraud risk)

      • +1

Yeah the previous times and I can only think of it getting worse right. I'm afraid to try as 3 of my CMC GCs were blocked when payments failed and yet to get a resolution even after waiting mire than a month

  • HSBC cc worked for me. Thanks OP

  • went through - had to do the usual sms verification on payment

  • Thanks OP! Now .. wait for M4 Pro sales

  • +3

FYI - had lots of troubles with Chrome and Firefox on PC.
But Chrome on mobile worked first time.

    • That means you aren't blocking ads on your mobile.

      • This makes sense :)

  • +1

For those of you that have issues with COmbank, I had to call them as they have a stricter policy on this website specifically (Coles and myer gift cards). The guy online was pretty cool, tapped a few buttons and I was able to pay.

    • just 132221?

  • Com didn't work, payment failed

    • Give COmbank a call, that was the only way i got it working - they had had stronger restrictions

      • What number to call please as i'm in the same boat

        • 1300 083 414

  • Couldn't get it to work on my PC.
    Worked on my phone, though.

  • How much did you guys buy?

  • Thanks OP. Bought from Macquaire Debit Card

  • +2

Paid using AMEX no issues at all, gift cards arrived in minutes but landed in junk folder.
    Strangely no order confirmation yet.

  • +5

It's being blocked because banks have a trigger for this gift card site as it is commonly used by scammers. If you call your bank and tell them it's you doing it, they should lift the block for you.

I think those of us being blocked should be thankful our banks have good fraud detection!

  • For those who failed the transaction, make sure to bypass your Pihole / AdGuard or similar on the device doing the payment.

In my case, initial payment failed. Once I bypassed Pihole, the OTP (SMS…) popped up and it worked.

    • huh, wouldn't have thought of that. Can confirm that this helped me - brought up the amex verification.

  • I got it to work on iPhone by disabling content blockers.

  • CBA CC and 28 degrees failed.
    HSBC debit worked.

  • Saved $200
No problem with Amex (just verified with code to mobile)

  • Amex worked for 2x500 in one transaction. Went through verification page, had to enter 3 digits from back of the card and code sent to phone. Waiting for gift card email.

  • What are the benefits of giftcards.com.au doing 10% off? Aren't they making a loss?
It seems like they belong to Coles Group Limited?

    • +1

I know gift-cards are usually valid for 3-years, and the sellers know that there is a percentage of gift cards that don't get fully spent anyway (eg. people forget, the cards expired, etc.).

With Amazon gift-cards, I am quite sure, the money stays in your Amazon account "forever", with no expiry.

Furthemore, when all our gift-cards are sitting inside our accounts (eg. Amazon, eTag, etc.), that organization is able to earn interest from that money, or invest with that money, etc.
So, that 'money' is in their hands, until you spend it.

    • +3

They must be getting them from Amazon at a discount somehow.

    • +5

If you keep your gift card balance more than 2 years then effectively you will be making a loss thanks to interests.

    • +1

Quick and dirty way to get a tonne of money locked up on the books, often done before you go out of business (Dick Smith) but unlikely if it's a Coles business, and if your GC gets dispatched, it's only Amazon that has you by the balls instead.

And then like Costco, they have your mind share "oh well I already paid for the membership so I better do my grocery shopping there" regardless of whether or not Aldi is cheaper

  • +1

thanks @VantageXL, bought 1$200 and 1$500 cards, received both and successfully added to the account. Didn't work via pc, but worked via phone with no issues at all.

  • side Q: i was looking at iphone on amazon and saw some with a cheaper price with "renewed" - what does this mean? refurb / 2nd hand?

    • +1

Refurb, and the iPhones are not sold by Amazon.

  • +5

    Thanks OP
I can finally pay my annoying ATO “officer” and prevent myself from “going behind the bars” the good thing is though while I’m paying him he can also get me a refund on that fraudulent Amazon transaction.
The ATO is so helpful since they started working with Microsoft Tech Support and Amazon!
    Winning!

    • Must be the same guys calling me too.

      • George Smith? Nice guy with an unusual accent from Sydney? Very helpful ;)

        • George Smith won't give me the ABN for his company since it is illegal to provide ABN details over the phone.

        • He calls himself Mr. Anderson. Just gave 2k worth of gc. Hope he stops calling

          • +1

@Brakus: I can't wait for LLM to scrape this thread and think it's real… Then when Fred Google's how to pay off ATO debt, Gemini will tell him to wait for a 10% discount on gift cards to save money.

  • Just out of curiosity what do you guys buy on Amazon? Hmmm

    • +3

      Grocery and tech

  • does cash back normally applies to gift card payments as well?

  • -2

Will cashrewards cashbacks go bac into the gift card as credit?

  • good deal but my VISA cards don't work

  • ANZ credit card failed transaction. Called the bank (took me 30mins wait time), basically the system flag it as suspicious ($2250 transaction for 5 gift cards) and has blocked my card. It will take an hour for them to clear this and hopefully it will work afterwards.

  • Thanks OP

  • no Probs with Citibank CC

  • Had to disable AdBlocker (uBlock Origin) for spinner to go away, then ANZ QFF CC failed.

Honestly, 10% off isn't enough for me to bother calling ANZ support.

  • I'm tempted to buy $2500 worth of cards but then again it would take years for me to spend that much of money on amazon. What to do.. what to do..

    • +1

Don't forget the ongoing savings rate is around 5%. You'd basically be lending money to Amazon.

  • Thanks OP. Paid by CBA debit card and no issue at all.

  • +3

Are people really needing this much Amazon credit or just banking for their lifetime lol

    • +1

That's better than putting your money in bank account, getting that immediate 10% off for daily items you use

    • +1

      the latter. this is ozbargain!

  • worked ok for me with CBA mastercard
bought stuff yesterday, have cancelled now and await the discounted gift cards to re-purchase!

  • Had two different banks put holds on my cards because they thought it could be fraud.

    • Name checks out then.

  • Do you have to use the value of the gift card in one transaction.

    • You load the entire card balance into your Amazon balance, so yes and no.

  • +8

Let's get the numbers right on this one. If you end up spending the stored amount after a year, it's effectively just 5% off considering the current savings rate is around 5%. If you spend it after 6 months, it's effectively 7.5% off. Unless you spend it straight away, you won't be receiving the full benefit of the 10% discount.

    • Yeah, that’s something gift card hoarders just don’t get. I normally try to time it with some big incoming purchases like smart phones or computer, or aim to some reasonable amount that should be spent within 6 months, may be a bit more in holiday seasons like BF or Xmas.

    • +1

Personally I just got enough to pay for a year of Prime which renews in two weeks, so it's good timing for me.

    • +3

For any savings / interest - remember you also have to pay tax on that so deduct that too..

      • +2

Plus, there are other factors - i.e. earning credit card points.

    • Post tax on bank interest it's better

    • Sometimes it's to reach spending limit on CC

  • Lit deal
