Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max $59 Delivered
Not a bad deal for these two currently on sale.
For those with Amazon Prime that haven't made a purchase in the App yet, you can snag the 4K Max for $39 Delivered.

These run Xbox Game Pass like a champ. Highly recommended.
This drastically lowers the cost of entry for a casual gamer. Just buy a month here or there of gamepass, get the gift cards on sale for extra savings.
which one is better among the two?
The 4K Max.
This is the v2 or v1 Max. What's the difference!?
It'll be the latest.
4K Max seems to have a slightly faster processor and double storage (16gb). However i'm mainly using it for Stremio and there's reports of audio issues on some streams using Dolby so i grabbed another 4K myself (for bedroom TV) just to be safe.
That’s interesting, I’m using the Cube with Stremio and haven’t had any issues with it (despite it being a different processor again) maybe they’ve had an App update that’s resolved the audio issues potentially? Thankfully, Amazon offers an easy returns process if it doesn’t work out.
Stremio + RD and IPTV and you’re basically set which can save tons of $$$ off subscriptions each month.
Yep very possibly fixed and this is just going by a 10 minute google search but I thought I’d grab the 4K just to be on the safe side as it’s working fine for me for Stremio with RD
Which iptv are you using?
Just need the cube to go on sale now.
Here you go
Excellent, I've been waiting.
How do these compare to a PS5 for streaming, for example how fast/smooth it is to navigate the Prime Video app? My TV is a bit slow when I use the Prime app, but the PS5 does it much faster.
It should be as fast as the PlayStation, definitely faster than your tv.
Will use less power then ps5
Do they connect to Google Play or Amazon Appstore?
Amazon Appstore but can easily sideload any apk using the downloader app.
https://support.optisigns.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016313754…
DIsable OTA updates when you first get it.
Aurora Store is better option. Same as google play store but without the strings attached.
What is "OTA updates"? Do you mean Fire TV updates?
@Euthyphro: Over the air?
@WalterBiH explained it perfectly below. For those wondering, it's just in case Amazon decides to remove sideloading in an update (they've already removed local ADB, so it's not impossible)
these prices aren't exactly great lol
were still yet to have an ONN box for like $15 like the USA does, one can dream

is there a big difference between the 4k max and cube?
I have a old 4k max but debating whether i should upgrade to the newer 4k max for a bit extra storage and WiFi-6E
does jailbreak work to watch ppv etc.. or all bs
Is that a question?
You can sideload apps if thats what youre asking. I prefer CCWGTV though.
Might check it out if my one at home is gen 1, however.
Yeah, once you get developer options, install apps from other sources, then install downloader and that's it. I have it on both 4k and 4k max.
Is this jailbreaking though? Sideloading :)
I haven't done ppv.
I got no idea I just used the jailbreak term as its on the youtube vid lol, need something to replace telstra tv will give it a go
I would hardly call that a "jailbreak". It's a dev mode that is available on pretty much all Android devices :)
And yes, it does work on new 4k Max Gen 2 (I have both new and old versions).
Side loading has not been disabled (yet) by Amazon, but they've disabled local ADB. If you care about keeping your options open, I'd recommend blocking updates.
Google is your friend, but there are some starting pointers:
To skip update on initial installation
Press and hold "Menu/ |||" (and possibly "Back") button on remote
May have to do it few times and wait a bit until it lets you operate Firestick without updating
Block Updates
DNS Method:
DNS Block:
REQUIRED: d1s31zyz7dcc2d.cloudfront.net
REQUIRED: amzdigital-a.akamaihd.net
REQUIRED: amzdigitaldownloads.edgesuite.net
OPTIONAL: softwareupdates.amazon.com
OPTIONAL: updates.amazon.com
NetGuard Blocking:
- Download NetGuard from https://firetvsticks.com/simple-downloads/ (28907)
- Go to settings -> Advanced Options -> Manage System Apps
- Select Blocking for "AdepFOS" & "System Updates"
- Enable NetGuard (top left) -> Press OK
!!!! NOTE: Blocking may not work immediately after FireStick restart !!!!
Depending on s/w version, you will be able to run Wolf Luncher (or Wolf Launcher mini) to avoid annoying Amazon video ads for shows in home screen.
Thanks for the info. I do need to sideload apps. Just wondering what's the use case for ADB? If I'm just sideloading apps, is it needed?
No - sideloading will work fine.
ADB is only required to overwrite default Amazon launcher (and similar functions). There are also some custom scripts that people have created to run in Firestick that need local ADB. For basic operations and app install - not required.
Get this or wait for black Friday?
Get this
Wait
Get this then wait.
can you install Android apps?
Yes - by sideloading
not any most for most apps. asking Google play store when try to run sideloaded apps.. ie Kayo

Refer to my other comment
Using the 2021 Firestick 4k, and using Moonlight to stream from my PC, I get the occasional "bitrate too high" stuttering issue with Moonlight at 1080p @ 30fps.
When I use a mini PC like a Lenovo M700, there is never any stuttering issue (granted I got wifi antennas for it) and can even go at 60fps.
Will the 2023 version be any better?
And of course I just got one the start of this week at full price.. Had I known would have waited…
log off and delete your account ASAP
try chatting to them. they might me more sympathetic since it's the Amazon product and it's the Christmas season :)
Looked up that and apparently they wont refund the difference and instead suggest you send it back for a refund and buy again. Bit of an odd thing to do due to shipping all over again etc but…
Buy this one and send it straight back under the guise of the previous one. Save you having to repackage the first one up
@Pete Gabitas: Yep I've just done this before. Also another pro-tip, in the reasons for return, make sure you select one that offers free return shipping. I like to choose "item arrived too late" and write something about a birthday present.
@Vavoom: Any tips for getting replacement for a Firestick remote out of warranty period that all of a sudden has a rattle sound to broken tiny pieces despite using a case an never being dropped
Yup that works too. I've done it before.
Buy another at this price and return it as the original price you paid for a refund on that.
This or google 4K ?
Google interface is about 10x neater with less obtrusive advertising, but the box is more expensive.
Google remote is awful.
True. The Fire TV remote is quite nice and a solid feel
May I ask why we getting this?
My Samsung smart tv can download Netflix YouTube Disney+ already and I can watch them all with no problem.
What’s the benefit using this to watch those streaming apps?
Thanks
You can use stremio /w this to sail the seven seas
Samsung Smart TVs can run Stremio app with Torrentio/RD anyway - no purpose unless your smart TV isn't smart enough
Some people may have older/cheaper TVs that do not handle streaming and downloaded apps very well. A less informed consumer may think they need to purchase a whole new TV to improve their streaming and app experience but for most cases using an external device (such as a Fire Stick / Google TV) can simply resolve their issues for a significantly less cost. Other than that it may be easier to "sideload" specific apps and streaming tools onto this type of device compared to some TV's proprietry operating systems.
You can install SmartTube to watch ad-free Youtube.
Smartube for YouTube and VLC for movies. You can hook up a little dock with a 128gb stick for media storage
Do firesticks require a separate AC adaptor or will they run plugged into a USB port on a TV/Projector?
Can run as far as I can remember , but comes with separate AC adapter included in the box
Not everyone has TVs that have access to some or all these streaming apps. I for one have a 4 year old TV that doesn't have Kayo.
In my experience it depends on the TV. Some TVs seem to provide enough power through the USB port, while others make it get stuck in a loop of booting up but never reaching the home screen.
I ran mine on a single USB3 port for years with no issues. For TVs with USB2 ports, you'll probably need 2 ports and a Y adapter to get power from both ports.
My tv does usb does 0.9 amp but the power adaptor for the fire stick outputs about twice that so I didn’t risk it - you might be luckier.
Using it with Steam Link for gaming
Tried streaming from hard disk that is plugged into router using VLC app and it was lagging badly. Anyone suggest any other app for uPnP / SMB access?
Great thing with these is that it's perfect size to take travelling. No need then to worry about what TV your hotel has or trying to sign onto apps in the hotel TV. Just plug and play. Just need to remember not to leave it behind.
Hoping for an upsized cashback for Amazon devices

Hi guys,
I have a Sharp TV that has built-in android OS. The TV built-in is super slow so I use the Firestick 4K.
However, it's quite inconvenient whenever I turn on the TV. I use the Firestick remote to turn on the TV, but I have to wait for the built-in system to load the screen, and then wait for the Firestick to load its screen.
Is there any way to turn off the built-in system completely and use only the Firestick?
Thanks
If you sign out of everything on your TV it might boot a little faster - maybe
Same price at JB if you just want to buy in store and not wait for delivery.
I switched my max for a google streamer, it's night and day compared to the firestick. No more buffering on stremio larger files, audio sync gone. Obviously more pricey but it was worth it
which model?
There's only one model of the "streamer"
https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/google-tv-…
Thanks, never heard of this device I'll have a look, as the stremio app on Samsung TV is way too buggy.
still unable to play external HD in NTFS format I assume? This is why I stay away from Firesticks and GTVwCC.
can anyone comment on stremio 4K remux black screen issues? does latest firestick hardeware/software version support DV9?
such confused….
Likelihood of the Fire TV Cube going on sale ?
must resist until black friday
This is likely to be the Black Friday sale.
Firestick TV is useless to me now. Unless you pay prime video with no ads. Sure you can install apk but still inconvenient you need another Y cable to attach storage or usb
I looked at Y cables on AliExpress, they’re inexpensive , a few dollars, but take a while to arrive. I’m going to give it a try.
Disappointed that it’s a micro usb connection not usb c, seems dated
Need deal for cube
Can you side load Kodi onto it?
Anyone else getting an estimated delivery date of feb - march? (For the max)
10% cashback too at CR and SB
