  • New all time low for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max using the promo code for first time Amazon Prime App users.

Was $19 in July by stacking FIRST20 with 20PRIME.

These can't stream/decode 4K videos. I've tried many ways and even at 1080p they display artifacts most noticeable during scene changes. I've tried mirroring, casting, network drives etc and they cannot stream high quality 4K video.

Also when paying for a prime subscription and streaming a 4K video (fast and the furious for example) the device never transitioned from 1080p to 4k.

I have no problem streaming 4k UHD Dolby Vision rips. Might be either your setup, or your TV. It can definitely handle 4k easily.

You do need to have strong wifi signal where the firestick is located and at least wifi 5(better if 6) . I had stuttering when I was using 2.4 GHZ channel. Also had issue when the TV was far from the router. Installed an access point near the TV and all issues resolved with 4k/UHD

      • Yes we have 5G and it has strong signal.
The data rate of the videos I'm trying to play is over 25Mbps (2160p).
I've run speed tests on the fire stick and it gets close to 100Mbps so it's definitely processing/decoding ability.

Best work around to get this?
Need mobile number to create new account or email enough?

  • Didn't work for me either… new prime account. same message as reported above.
