Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Wall All-in-One Internet Gateway $1169 + Delivery ($0 to Metro Areas/ C&C/ in-Store) + Surcharge @ Scorptec

181

Hi everyone! Long-time OZBargain member here, but this is my first time posting a deal. I’ve been eyeing the UniFi Dream Wall (UDW) for quite some time, and this is the first time I’ve seen it drop below $1200 AUD. If you’re looking to set up a home WiFi network and security camera system with UniFi gear, the UDW is a near-perfect option.

The UDW integrates UniFi's high-performance routing, security gateway, and much more, making it a versatile solution for smart home setups. Scorptec has it on sale, and I figured it might help anyone who’s been waiting for a price drop on this device. Let me know if you’ve seen it anywhere cheaper, but as of now, this is the best price I’ve found!

Happy shopping!

1% surcharge for Card, AmEx, & PayPal payments.

  • 1 SFP+ port, rest gigabit. Kinda stingy. Wifi..6.

I think there will be a very small intersection here between people who want a completely unified network device, those that don't want 2.5gbe or 10gbe and those that have too much disposable income. I don't get who this is for. I remember when unifi offered better features and performance for cheaper prices!

    • People who want one master box but all the features

      • +1

It doesn't have all the features - it's not 10Gb nor WiFi 7.
And these are upgrades that you can't do because it's all sealed into one box…

  • +1

Actually the WAN RJ45 port is 2.5Gbps which is not bad. And 12/17 LAN ports support PoE.

  • +1

Looks like a great solution for those looking for a router, poe switch and nvr. It's not for me but I can see how this would work for many people.

    • My biggest gripe is they didn’t put in a (reliable) storage system so you could do unify protect. Whack 4 - 5 cams and see how long a how much footage you can store on a SD card. So I guess this is meant for an office with lots of poe desk phones? They announced a Pro version at the same time as this.. where did that go.

  • Sure the product is priced less than usual, but I just can't see this being a "deal" in that what it's getting you isn't worth that amount even still.

You gotta be dreamin', this is far from a bargain

    • +2

It is a bargain, but it is not for everyone.

I am using UDW for my home setup, very clean installation with all in one box, I have a few APs and cameras connected.

The main downside is that cameras are recording to microSD which limits the capacity.

      • Ah that's a deal breaker. So they didn't put an nvme drive or 2.5" sata, terrible fate.

        • +1

UniFi makes some weird hardware design decisions, for example, the 2.5" sata in CloudKey Gen2 Plus is actually connected via USB internally (with a very common ASMedia USB-SATA bridge chip), but they don't bother allow you to use external USB drives as storage.

UDM-Pro and UDM-SE got a hidden, USB-connected SD card reader. There's a good chance it is connected to the internal eMMC storage which the system boots off.

      • Could I use this and have my QNAP NAS do the camera/NVR work? I haven't found any documentation to work out if the UDW will grab any cameras attached and tie them to its own software.

        • It shouldn't take over any other devices - but it will be able to adopt and manage other ubiquiti gear.

It should be running the same OS as UDM-Pro / UCG etc in which case you can choose which management apps you have running
(Network / Protect / Access / Talk / Connect / InnerSpace) in my case I'm only running Network

          • @semaj: It won't unless you adopt devices specifically but Ubiquiti CAN NOW find and use most ONVIF cameras apparently so they may show up in the interface. Just don't adopt them if you don't want to use them with Protect.

      • very clean installation with all in one box

This is a negative, not a positive - if you seperate out each piece of equipment, then you can upgrade/replace each part when required, and you can swap out anything that dies or becomes end of life.

In other words, keep your router and switches and access points seperate, otherwise you're guaranteed to run into wastage.
I've recently replaced my original USG with a new UXG Lite, and I've swapped out one of my switches for the 10Gb Aggregation unit - these are upgrades you wouldn't be able to do with this all-in-one.

        • Understand your point.

But to get the features this thing has (16 port switch with PoE, Router, Access point, SSD/MMC/MicroSD card slot) would require a rack and like a UDM Pro at the very least with 16 PoE switch. Then a seperate access point.

I actually have clients that simply don't have room for that anywhere accessible without it getting in the way.

This thing is pretty slim and compact with all the stuff it has and at under $1200 is actually quite good value. Just wish it has an option of slotting in a big hard drive for protect would be nice but other than that it's a featureful unit. A UDM Pro is like $720 + $530 for the switch + $175 minimum for the lowest end access point + $130 for a 450mm deep cheapest wall mount rack I can find = $1555.

I think having one relatively compact and easy to install unit with everything in it is a positive AND a negative.

Personally we sell all Ubiquiti equipment and haven't had a failure yet in about 10 years of any product, but I accept we are outlyers because I know there are plenty that do.

    • +1

The closest thing is UDM-SE which alone is $800-$1000. Plus a equivalent AP and switch you're definitely looking at more than $1200.

You do lose a 3.5" SATA bay but the 512GB WD Purple microSD will do for a small business or home, as long as you're not recording 24/7.

    • +2

RRP is like 1900, in what world is almost 40% of the price that is regularly paid and it often sells out at not a relative bargain?

    • +1 for silly comment.

Australian Distributor wholesale price on this is around $600 more than this for us currently.

$1169 is indeed a real bargain.

If you google these are all going for $1770+.

Incorrect use of the negative button mate. Unless you can find the Australian version cheaper?
