  • Test drove the Premium version last week, only 10min drive but was very nice and no complaints. How negotiable are they on this model?

    • +5

      Fixed prices. Cant negotiate.

      • Is it bad that I look at that as a good thing?

  • +4

Anyone else waiting for the sealion 7?

    • With bated breath
Either that or a few K off the atto3 which might convince me to overlook the quirky interior (probably won’t)

  • +3

Holding out for the full EV 7

    • How come?

Given the US election result I would expect an oversupply of Chinese EVs in the coming few years due to Trumps proposed China Tarifs. While I'm not optimistic about an upcoming global trade war, it might mean cheaper EVs in Australia. But… I am not an economist and do not have a crystal ball

        • I think you're spot on with that assessment.

Same about the US, basically anything electronic will go up by at least 10-20% if Trump follows through.

        • +3

Given his bromance with Elon Musk, I reckon you're right and he'll make sure Tesla is well protected.

      • I would prefer full EV, the hybrid, although has benefits, combines a ICE that requires its own maintenance.

I am curious how much per year do you pay for servicing for these cars? minus tyre replacements.

wow servicing cost is expensive with byd. didn't realize how much you guys pay.

        • as opposed to?

          • +3

@overlook: Tesla fan boys who forgot this has an engine 👍

            • +1

@bloom: No servicing for Tesla but the insurance is kille them at the moment. Average is coming out to being over 2500

              • @abs898: Wow. I hope there's enough fuel savings to offset that, otherwise what's the point?

              • +1

@abs898: Shop around for insurance. My quote was on par with an ICE vehicle.

              • @abs898: thats incorrect. I do service my tesla once a year and its less than 100 bucks. Most things in a tesla can be self serviced its been designed to be able to do that, it even guides you through the process with built in videos to watch.

            • @bloom: there is very little to no servicing cost on a tesla, most things are self service on a tesla even had video guides built in, you can buy almost any part for any model tesla from the website. anything major, like brake fluid, and refrigerant for AC is done every 4 years, everything else is self maintained if the car has any issues it notifies you. even the 16v lithium battery for the electronics is covered under warranty for 4 years. unlike a 12v lead acid battery which isn't

          • @overlook: My tesla model 3 costs me less than 100 bucks a year to service it.

        • Byd Atto 3 is $165 and $500 alternate years. It is expensive compared to Tesla.

          • @Commenter: i don't understand why though since they are both evs.

            • +1

@kungfuman: Probably the importer wants recurring income via servicing.

        Crikey!!

          593

          =SUM(A2:A10)

          exactly $4,000 over 10yrs

          $1.1k for a 10yr major for a hybrid is probably about right…

BUT I think this is also countered by a fairly poor warranty

          6yr 150,000km frame is kinda… ehhhh

          8yr 160,000km battery is… all right I guess… but competitors are doing 10yrs

sell the damn car before it becomes a liability at 10yrs?

        • yeah its pretty expensive for an ev to cost that much in servicing

          • @kungfuman: That'd be the cost of servicing the hybrid stuff. Full EVs tend to be cheaper.

            • @nugstar: ahhh is this a hybrid is it? BYD Sealion 6 didn't know that one thought it was a full ev. That explains the high cost in servicing.

        • Should look at the servicing for the Shark!

          • @sh4hp: ooooff

            sit down gents

            =SUM(A2:A10)

            $7,464!

there's a mandatory 6 month service then the usual yearly

and at the 4yr 8yr mark there's an long $1.7k major

thing is this their defacto flagship and it has a lot of engineering to get a 2.75 ton lump to do a 5 sec 0-100….

they're leveraging the fact this Shark is a hot commodity

            good on 'em i guess

  • What is the L/100km of petrol when you are not using the EV mode?

    • It's very hard to say. City driving and higher speed driving yield very different results. It's about 2L per 100km with one full charge + one full tank. You're looking at potentially 8L as a rough figure. You can optimise though with SOC and will likely see much lower though. I own the premium so the dual electric motors for AWD are slightly more hungry.

    • 1.1L/100km phev minus battery last 80km so i think it is 110/20= 5.5L

  • Are these price cuts / cash backs indicative of falling demand or trying to grab market share?

    • May be much less interest in the dynamic version compared to premium AWD version.

  • Any Novated lease company recommendations?

  • +1

How do people afford this - do most get financing from somewhere, and if so, any recommendations?
