Typical Evening Speeds are subject to change and measured between 7pm and 11pm. These are not guaranteed minimum speeds and speeds may vary. You may experience slower speeds during this period and at other times.

Techy types should be aware that 5G Home Broadband uses CG-NAT. Carrier-grade NAT (Network Address Translation) is a type of network that assigns services with a private IP address, instead of a dynamic public IP address. Our network will then translate that private address into a public address. This means that the following items (which depend on internal NAT) will not work on 5G Home Broadband:

Port forwarding
Hosting web, email or file servers internally
Smart Home systems (e.g. accessing security camera footage remotely, home automation and printers)
Remote Access (i.e. accessing your home computer or devices from another location)
If you need any of these items in your home setup, 5G Home Broadband won’t be the right fit for you. Please check your address on our website for one of our other great broadband plans.

7 days notice period:
Either party may wish to terminate the service, by giving at least 7 days written notice (Notice period) to the other party. You must pay for charges for the Service up to the end of the Notice Period. If you terminate the service less than 7 days before your next billing anniversary date, you will still be charged for the next billing period. Any amounts already billed will not be refunded.

JV , "you've done it again".
Rightly so , this time .

  • Techy types, should be a note for everyone given the exclusions.

The exclusions from it running on CG-NAT id guess would cover a large amount of the population, who doesnt have at least 1 smart device or camera?

Why does this matter? Most IOT devices can run behind CGNAT.

There's also alternative ways to deal with CGNAT limitations such as reverse proxies/tunneling.

But in general it won't impact majority of people at all

  • Anyone actually using TPG/IInet 5g? Commenting would help..I do realise that distance from the tower and interference is an issue with 5g against NBN but would like to hear from actual consumers

Gee thanks bud…as usual ..very helpful and insightful comment with the highlights..next time I ask for a comment I shall remember to say…anyone apart from jv as a precursor

Lol 😂 I did try to use 5G before instead of NBN plan. I have 5G router and I use Boost 5G plan. Internet speed is maximum 250 Mbps in theory and I got 50 Mbps in average.

If you seriously considering iiNet/ TPG, I would recommend you to buy a prepaid Vodafone SIM card, use mobile with 5G connectivity to run speed test and see if your area could reach your desired speed and reception strength.

          Hope it helps.

Please excuse my grammatical errors as English is not my first language. It will unfortunately piss jv off.

    • I’ve been using it for 6 months and found it really good. Good speed for uploading, streaming on multiple devices

Had the service for 6 months in NSW. Neither Telstra or Optus 5G home broadband services were available in my area.
Solid 200+ speeds ping stable 20-30ms.
Tapo cameras and a small amount of home automation gear works fine.
One minor annoyance is the fastmile locks up at least once a month, 10 second power down required to restore connection. Scheduled restarts don't seem to help. Can also take a slight speed hit in heavy rain.

  • "This product is not available at your address.

The good news is NBN™ Wireless is available at your address!"

All the ISPs give me that answer for my address, 5km out of a country town. Although I have tried Belong 5G home internet and it works fine. And I was only able to test Belong out because I told them I lived in town.Even the town address is unavailable with iiNet.

    • Time to get starlink

      • -2

FW works but I'd prefer 5G home internet if I could get it for the same price. It's faster.

I will never buy anything Musk.

        • You don't need to boycott Elon Musk just because you can't afford his products, unless you're a Libtard.

      • Any bargains on Starlink?

  • When checking the availability, I found that my unit is unavailable; however, some others are. All in one building address. Maybe my unit is not facing the nearest tower, although I believe the reception should be okay (Good speed and reception when using Felix at home).

  • Anyone tried ordering to an adress that works and using it in another adress that does have 5g but not have this available?
