From previous post for the same store:

Note this seller is not the official Xiaomi store, only a reseller that happens to be using Xiaomi ANZ as its eBay username.

    • Yea very dodgy and misleading with that naming and logo. Only official distributor and reseller is Panmi. Panmi should take action against this seller that likely got their stock from Hong Kong to on sell with a fulfilment warehouse.

    VA

    • +1

Good. Now we know you read the specs.

      • +18

it wasnt specified in the post (at time of writing). its worth noting. and people do often ask under deals for specs they could easily google themselves. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • i prefer VA, thank you

  • Already got a 24" and 34" in my setup (stacked). Wonder if I should get one more 🤔

    • Do it

    • +3

      Get 2 more 34" 270 degree view

      • go 360 for full immersion

    • I would go stacked 34's, with portrait 24" to the side. (Or side by side 34's with 24 stacked above the middle / your main seated position.)

      • So tempted to try the stacked 34s but worried it will just turn into a huge rectangle lol (not very visually pleasing). Arms not capable of side by side 34s

        • Just buy another single arm - running multiple single arms is generally better anyway (in terms of placement flexibility).

In terms of stacked 34's - I think it would be fine. I'd lower (and possibly even angle up) the bottom monitor a bit, to help with ergononics.

Check out u/ultrawidemasterrace on reddit - you should find plenty of desk setups with stacked 34's (not an uncommon setup).

  • Love Xiaomi but got the older 34 and died after 1.5 years and outside of warranty (bought from Kogan) would not buy Xiaomi monitors again

    • +3

Unlucky. Had mine for 4 years and hasn't missed a beat. Use it all day 3 times a week for WFH

      • +1

Had 2 both died around same time. If you google it. I'm not the only one. I bought a new board from taobao but didn't fix it

      • +1

I've had mine for almost 5 years also and never had issues either

      • +1

Those Excel spreadsheets and intranet pages must really be putting it through its paces.

    • Same mine has vertical bars which flicker

    • I bought mine on eBay. It was broken due to flicking and out of warranty after approximately 3 years. The eBay seller asked for $100 to replace a brand new one with shipping included. It’s a good experience to me.

Monitor shouldn't die in 3 years lol

        • +2

All products can fail unexpectedly. A Samsung TV could be broken right out of box and a Sony tv could fail in 1 year.

    • +2

+1 this one because no idea why you were down voted. It's a reasonable review/opinion from someone who has actually used the brand before.
Might not apply to everyone, but at least it can inform someone to do more research.

    • +1

I also have two old xiaomi monitors for 4 years. Never have any issue. I am wondering whether you had the correct input voltage of your device.

  • +5

my xiaomi 34 still going hard, paid 424 bucks in april 2021 fwiw

tempted to pick this one up

It was a golden time, back then it was the cheapest 34 inch UW by a wide margin. And wasn't total garbage. OverPaid at out of sale $505, but worth, still goes strong.

Only in the next 2 or 3 years did it change and finally started seeing other 34 UW come under $500 from the big brands like Gigabyte, same specs of course so it wasn't any better.

Very nice productivity monitor but wouldn't recommend it for gaming. If you've got the money for a GPU that can drive it, splash a bit more for IPS or OLED where variable refresh rates works properly. Only exception would be strategy/RTS or indie where it works well.

    • VRR doesn't work on VA?

      • Not well, with a couple exceptions in high end VA monitors, you'll experience flickering especially at lower frame rates. If you can drive the monitor at high refresh (120 plus) consistently it's not so much of an issue (still poor response times so not great for FPS type games regardless).

        • I've been using the previous gen Xiaomi 34" for years and haven't had an issue with it. Just lucky I guess?

          • @Joker042: I'd probably suggest your VRR isn't enabled? It's not a fault, it's something to do with how VA panels manage brightness. Not too noticeable above 70 or so fps.

            • @nigel deborah: …….. It is.

              • @Joker042: On the monitor and in GPU control panel? Otherwise, perhaps your use cases avoid it being too obvious. It especially shoes up strongly if experiencing microstutter or fps below 70 or so. I personally found it a better experience to just use it with VRR off.

It's a well known issue with many VA VRR implementations

Chiming in as another owner of the OG.
Had it for just over 4 years now i believe. Still going strong and it has had HEAVY usage. I'm talking every single day of those 4 years, for at least 5 hours a day, probably averaging something like 6-7hours a day.
If this maintains the quality of the original i would not hesitate a moment to recommend it.

Have always hoped Xiaomi would make a successor. Though im still very happy with mine and this isn't enough of an upgrade, so maybe ill wait another ~3 years for the third model and see then. Fingers crossed for a 5120 x 2160 with all the little changes this monitor has gotten (slightly higher refresh, RGB backlight etc).

  • Nice price. I am still running the original one since late 2019 early 2020 (the first couple of batches when they first arrived AU). Have been using it for WFH for 5 days a week, my son plays games on it over the weekends and still going strong.

Only complain is that it doesn't have any USB for keyboard, charging etc, and a PD port for power and display.

  • OOS…

  • Kogan 34 similar specs, cheaper…

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/196672190635?srsltid=AfmBOoqdo0U…

    Also a very deceptive username

    • +1

Kogan bought DickSmith years ago, username is legit.

It might be using the same LCD panel and claim the same specs on paper but Kogan branded monitors tend to cut every corner possible.

  • +1

I got alot of xiaomi products at home (monitor, rice cooker, robovac, various small household items) and all are still going strong even after years of usage. It is a brand i feel comfortable recommending.

    Is this 3g compatible?

  • +1

    Well, that sucks.

    "Dear friend
    Thank you for your reply
We are very sorry, we just received a notice from the warehouse that due to an accident in the process of transporting the products to the post office, a batch of goods was damaged during transportation, and your goods happened to be among them. We currently have no extra inventory. Can we cancel your order first and arrange a refund?
Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you
    Looking forward to your reply
    Best wishes

  • When this monitor was in stock, I didn't want it at all. I was thinking, "Meh VA". But now that it is out of stock, I want it so bad because I can really spend close to 2000 dollars on a Samsung G9 Oled, for now.

      • Was literally looking at it. Trying to compare. Also read the comment where it says Dell have deals for black friday. So I think history might repeat where I might not buy it but will miss it once it's out of stock.
