I think it's a steal. NOt sure where else you'd be able to get a 10" Tegra2 3G tab for this price…

That's the issue. I bought a 16GB 3G lenovo thinpad for $299 - $70 from powerbuy…thought it was a good deal…but it just sat around gathering dust!

I bought the same one, and I use it all the time (despite thinking I wouldn't). It's basically just a replacement for my phone, except bigger and better.
The trouble is I already have a Galaxy S3 and I find it hard to justify spending more $$$ just to use a 7" device…10" is a tad bulky for my taste…

Except it doesn't have 3G in Australia, and if you do import a 3G one then you can't use it for calls, or tethering (or even SMS out of the box). 7" is a better format though (IMO).
It's been announced that the Nexus 7 3G will be available from Australian stores for $369 this month though.

Motorola will have OS upgrade supported by Google, Toshiba has never heard of any OS upgrades for all it's tablets. Hope this helps you to decide.

google seem to want to push their own line rather than moto
but IMO i'd be happy with ics for the money
Google is into getting Android OS more popular than IOS and not too much into profit making on selling hardwares. Motorola is taken over by Google so Nexus, Moto has no conflicts on OS upgrades. I heard even Xoom 1 is getting JB upgrade. As for Toshiba you will be with the pre-installed OS for the rest of the life of whatever the tablet you are buying.
The Toshiba comes with 3.2, but can be updated to ICS now.
@iChopstick, Official from Toshiba or custom OS upgrade? I thought Toshiba Excite Android 4.0 replaces the A100 Thrive Android 3.2 so there won't be any official OS upgrade for Thrive. Can you please share the link for ICS upgrade?
Xoom 1 got JB update in the US in July this year, when us Aussies got ICS!

Official, well it was on my Thrive 7", but AFAIK ICS was rolled out for 10" before the 7".
I ran OTA straight from the Service Station app that came with the device.

I called and cancelled and re-order another. it is sutpid , coz they can just credit me 30 dollars and save the transcation fee and handeling fee for process the credit and repurchase. Silly process
Available at $278 + delivery at the moment. I think its a great buy.
Had mine about 6 months and love it. It's thin, lightweight, good battery life, 3g, icecream sandwich, expandable memory. Only shortcoming doesn't play high def video very well.

I would go for it then. the wifi only is only $188the $188 one is the Xoom 1 with the crappy screen. Avoid!

How would the Xoom 2 compare with the Toshiba AT300, Samsung galaxy tab2, or Asus TF300? Is the Xoom2 robust and is the screen scratch resistant?
Xoom 2 is gorilla glass - yes scratch resistant.
Don't know how it would compare with toshi or tab2, but the tf300 is significantly faster with quad core (although no 3g)
The Xoom 2 is advertised as having Android 3.2 Honeycomb, can it be upgraded to 4.2?

When i got my xoom2 about 6 months ago it came with 3.2, about 2 weeks later updated to 4.0 (ICS).
No sign of 4.2 yet (jelly bean)
