  • 360° rotatery is Korean dance legendary style y

  • +1

The description is the best, but what about the product? Usually Aliexpress sells same for less.

    • +19

This will be delivered tomorrow if you buy it now by a robust courier system that is currently functioning and relies heavily on working technology. Do you want to risk not having one for at least a weeks time, when anything could happen?

      • +2

Buy it on Ali as well. If the world hasn’t ended by the time it comes, return it to Amazon. Hedge your bets!!

      • +3

You must be a salesman by day and ozbargainer by night.

  • +1

+1 for the description, to bring back memories, and to remind me of Resident Evil games/movies

  • +6

Thanks bought WW3 is a few months away.

    Top marks for the description!

    High yield investment radio

  • it's interesting to see both us and China are pushing mandate adoption of AM radios in their cars, event though there are way more advanced ways of communication available such as 5g or starlink

Pretty simple really - AM radio has long range and is pretty low tech.

    • +7

Because it is simple, reliable and works.

Too much tech = too much fragility.

  • +2

I can imagine you writing this description in a dank basement at table set up for a prepper podcast - Love it OP - bought!

If you have a blog or broadcast then I can't wait to listen to it on my new radio!

  • I dont have this particular model but SW radios are a lot of fun. updooted

    • Which one do you have? I had a SW radio donkeys years ago but would like to get back into it, bit of fun to tune around the globe and show the kids.

    • +2

What is fun about SW radio?

      • +4

When you are out n the middle of BFNowhere, under the stars, you can listen to the world old person style. It’s magic.

  • +2

I’d be very tempted if it was a Radiation King! If it all goes to hell, I at least want to listen to Billie Holiday on the most aesthetically appropriate audio device.

  • Love it. Nice post OP
My old SW radio died some years back and had thought about replacing it
With the orange screen matching the colour of the likely new POTUS we can all remind ourselves what he has in store for us

  • +6

This will have terrible reception on short wave and no external antenna jack.
You will be lucky to pick up Radio New Zealand with it.
It also isn't SSB capable so pretty much useless for the scenario OP describes.

    • any cheap recommendation - pretty much want to buy /test/ throw in a survival box . youtube mention wire antenna , i don't even know where to start - is there any different from cheap $5 amazon vs $50 ?

      • +2

Yea get a Xhdata when they are on sale, I regularly use the Xhdata D808 it's an awesome radio. You should be able to get the Xhdata D109 for under $50 on sale, it seems like a decent radio. It has no SSB but you don't need SSB to listen to broadcast stations, SSB is good for Ham radio but I don't see much activity now days.

        • +1

thanks heaps , end up finding 109 for $40 on amazon but i dont know which Antenna , could you recommend one ?

  • +5

Some reviews are complaining about it's failure to survive an EMP attack. I'll pass.

    • +1

Yep, you're gonna need an old valve set to survive EMP. Modern silicon will be toast.

    • Keep it an old biscuit tin and it will be fine

  • +3

would it be better for prepping to spend $20 more and get XHDATA D-109 ? ( i am a radio noob tried to learning )

    • Yeah, I'd also like to know. Need a radio for our family cyclone kit.

      • +3

In an emergency situation, you'd want a low battery drain device that you can have back up and running with a cheap, widely available power source (assuming civilisation is somewhat intact). The one above is a rechargeable 18650 battery, charged via type C. Assuming your cable is intact, doesn't fray and isn't broken, it's another liability you need to worry about, not even considering drawing from a power source. You can buy 40 AA batteries, throw them in a bag knowing you have power to receive news for days or weeks. Any AA/AAA battery powered radio would be better than one requiring charging in an emergency situation.

        • thanks , one thing i want to do it buy a few 18650 - have a USB 50w solar panel + VC4 ( which i use for AA and AAA but can also use 18650 )

    • +3

Get the Xhdata D-109 it's a much better radio you will actually pick up stations. I can get Radio NZ inside my house with my D-808 Saturday nights is request night on RNZ national you can hear modern music. You can probably pick up the 10000 radio China stations with any radio.

      • +2

The XhDATA D-808 is a solid choice, got mine for $80 delivered.

  • +2

    Wtf is SW?

what have I been missing out on my entire life?

    • +6

      Really?

Short Wave - old school radio. Growing up in Africa back in the day without TV and SW was our way to get real news and information - mainly the BBC world service.

  • I'll use my $10 scrapyard solar panels and ex Telstra batteries to charge my ev thankyou very much while all you muppets got Buckley's of finding or pumping fuel

  • I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire… (c)

  • I see this guy is from Broken Hill…

  • Is this good for a drive in cinema?

  • +2

OP, I haven't seen a sell that good since Shawn Michaels vs Hulk Hogan at Summerslam '05. Bought, and I'll see you all in the caves after the big red button is pushed!

  • Which AC adapter would work with this?

  • +7

Short wave has pretty much died out. Everything now makes far too much radio noise and stations have closed down after listeners switched to online streaming.

    People will never…… exPERIENCE the….. joys of…. shorTWAVE signals…. drifting in AND out… a TrUE LIStening PLEAsure…..

  • +1

OP must be a fan of Fallout games.

  • wheres the %20 coupon?

  • +1

if targeting WW3 scenario (god forbid) you need one of those radios that come with a dynamo built in, you don't want to depend on AA batteries

  • +1

Radio… who needs the radio, ready Harr?
