        Busy, let’s do Thursday.

  • what's the expiry?

    • Half way through summer .

    • 12/35

      • Good stuff

  • What the?? That has to be an error. These are usually over $1 each even when on sale. You should buy the whole lot and make a very nice profit

    • Great price but why don’t people buy rechargeable batteries? I don’t understand.

      • +3

Some appliances do not support rechargeable battery due to lower voltage. It will give false Reading of low battery.

        • Ah huh. Well now I understand. Thank you.

          • @Maths Debater: Mostly it's because people don't care about the waste, and can't think ahead enough to understand rechargeables are cheaper despite the shelf price.

Aside from the other points listed by other members, I remember reading that the number of charge cycles of a rechargable battery for it to break-even from an environmental perspective, was surprisingly high. I think this was due to the more exotic materials used in rechargable batteries.

Just looking it up, I found the number to be about 50 cycles.

So, unless you are a heavy user, you might find that the rechargable AAs will reach the end of their shelf life before you get to 50 cycles.

Assuming 3 year shelf life, that means you must be replacing them more than once a month, every month, to break-even environmentally.

I myself was sick of disposable AAs, and hate wastage in general, but this kind of information made me think twice.

But l, I always make sure I dispose of them responsibly, by dropping them in a battery recycling bin.

  • These likely to be available in other stores?

  • what are the expiry on those?

  • 20 packs left at 7

  • Anyone got an item number or barcode for these?

  • Brave post, these aren't eneloops.

  • Thanks for the heads up! I was gonna head to Bagot road one today to grab some stuff anyway.

    • Did you get lucky? I went by at lunchtime and all gone.

  • Go Darwinnnn

  • Got 2. Moved to Darwin this year and its paying huge dividends!

I went back yesterday lunchtime to see if i should buy a few more but they were all gone.
Instead i picked up a 18mm hose from the cleaence shelf. No price so asked a staff member and he marked it down from 80 to $20. So still a winner.
