Seems like Price Error as price of 8pcs and 12pcs is same. There are multiple listings (of same item) in store and none is this low.

What do you use to spot weld your batteries?
I don't weld them. The flat batteries fit perfectly into the solderless battery cases and lights I'm using
Could you link me please?
@Punkboy: Recently as a DIY power bank I grabbed a few of these which allow me to slot 8 of the batteries right in. While I'm not using them specifically for phone charging they do have USB-C PD 20W and an inbuilt light (a bit of a novelty). I have a few of these smaller ones that only take 3 batteries with no fast charging and they work well two.
Both linked above don't require welding and certainly last longer as you can replace the individual cells over time. You can get better ones with most requiring welding. As for torches I use them in my Wuben and Sofirn lights.
@Clear: Thanks for all of that. Bought 20 x flat batteries, 2 x big housings and 1 x small housing. 👍
@ChipsChicky: I saw the comments and links from @Clear (the first commenter), and bought the batteries from the first link and the housings from the second 2 links. The flat batteries from the first link fit into the housings just like normal batteries, that is without having to worry about soldering them together.
@sween64: That's a whole can of worms and ChatGPT etc. is good at really breaking it all down. There's different types of 18650 batteries where you get a flat top or a button top that a lot of devices like torches and DIY power banks use. Then you have the welded nickel tabs ontop that are more suitable for creating battery packs ebikes and escooters.
Using a multimeter is good for a basic to check to make sure they're getting the correct voltage. Or you can use a dedicated 18650 battery charger with a display like ths to test the capacity.
@Clear: Yeap, a whole can of worms. It is indeed important to fully understand Lipo batteries and creating power banks. If new to it, there are plenty of videos out there BUT don't mix any ole 18650 batteries on hand and assume they all hold the same charge or output capabilities especially if old or from different brands. Read up and dont use a soldering iron. Best use a spot welder to connect nickle tabs if creating packs.
As for the cheapie Aliexpress 18650 packs that one can stack individual 18650s into. My concern with those is safety as they are not balancing chargers. I do use them BUT I take the batteries out and charge in a seperate charger as my batteries are not new nor of the same brand. It is a whole can of worms and best to be careful with mixing Lipos to avoid potential fires due to incorrect charging or mixing incorrectly.
Are these the sort that burn your house down or are they just lithium batteries?
These are NiMH - much less likely to destabilize and catch fire as compared to Lithium ones.
Can't see a 10pcs option …
It's an affiliate link, so eligible for the 25% cashback rate tonight which brings them under $1/cell
yes, there are affiliate - I checked :)
Thanks OP ..12.79 for 12, no idea if they are any good but happy to give it a shot
This is very well reviewed brand on youtube etc. I recently bought a 18650 bateery (3400mAh) from this store for portable fan and quality seems par with any other brand. That's why I started looking into AA and AAA from them and found this price very tempting.
Yeah 12 for AU$12.79 (+Aliexpress Tax which is more like 15%+ rather than 10%) is decent.
Be prepared for a long wait for deliver. Free shipping ETA being May 26th or pay $28.45 (plus tax) to get by Apr04Yeah, wait time is a bit longer as its not Choice item, but still Free Delivery ain't bad. Nothing that most of the people require urgently i think.
Just buy Ikea Ladda Made in Japan for slightly more.
Why buy this for miniscule savings and poor performance? You can get a Ikea Ladda AAA for $8 for a 4 pack.
Problem is the AAA are out of stock at IKEA for the whole of Australia and seem to have been since many weeks (or even months),
I haven't even seen the AAs at Ikea for years now.
Twice the price is slightly more? News to me.
The only thing that concerns me is the reliability. Japan has held on the championship belt when it comes to nimh. For some reason, China hasn't been able to bridge the gap. They promise a lot, but the cells often die after a year or go high impedance. Whereas all my eneloops are still working at 95% after a decade.
But things change.
This popped up on my coins page, with a hefty discount. I ended up paying AU$6.77 for 12 pcs
That's insane. I never looked into coins page.
Are these better than Ikea Ladda?
BTW, my Ikea Ladda have been failing lately. I use them in sets of 4 usually. I've noticed that 1 will only take 100mah of charge, while the rest take 2000. I put it through repair cycles, eventually it comes back. But quite a few have these issues. Only about 5yr old, and I have many sets so each doesn't get used that much…
Liitokala is well reviewed brand on YouTube. There are many posts of Liitokala chargers on OzB aswell.
I bought thr 18650 battery for portable fan. It says it's Made In Japan (not sure about one's in this deal) and it's going well for now.
We will findout about these one's in a while as I can see that No Of Sold items on AE has gone up alot after post.
I use LiitoKala Direct a lot as they don't slap a shipping fee and often they arrive quicker than you'd expect for batteries. The 10 packs of 2600mAh 18650 batteries are good value.
