    this vs m4 ipad pro?

    • +10

It heavily depends on your ecosystem and what you want to do with the tablet. I'm sure the M4 is more powerful, but if you only use the tablet for media consumption… Whatever.

I personally had an iPad 8th gen and currently own a Galaxy Tab S9+ FE. It makes a lot more sense to have an Android tablet in my case because:
      1. Quick share works with Windows and Android devices, sharing files across devices is really easy.
      2. USB-C compatible and has all the bells and whistles USB-C can give you, whereas apple holds back the capabilities (maybe not as much on the Pro)
      3. I'm one of the few people who ACTUALLY use DeX every now and then, and I can really use it as a fully functional laptop (for the functions I care about)
      4. As a Windows user, sharing and managing files via USB is also much easier.
      5. Can sideload apks, so things like YouTube Vanced, Spotify "Premium" and platforms such as Stremio for streaming are viable. Emulation is also generally better on Android.

If you have an Apple Ecosystem already, the iPad will be a no brainer I guess.

      • Youtube vanced? Thought that was killed?

        • +5

there's a second version, where you, the user, apply the patches. the patches themselves aren't applied by the devs, but by you, so it's harder to shut down theoretically

          • @OzGardian: Ahh ok….you wouldn't happen to know, where exactly, a user, might begin their search in order said version, along with patches? Happy for a PM 😁

        • +3

Use tubular, or newpipe, pipepipe, etc.

I've been using tubular for some time now and only had one issue (due to google changing the api and that stuffed ever non official YouTube app) and that was solved within a day (due to newpipe being heavily developed and open source (I believe)).

So 1 day out of the last 400+ days had down time. Pros are better ui, downloading, PiP, less issues, no need for signing in for subscribers, ad block, sponsor block (depending on version) etc. Really good for degoogling

          • @Some Random Guy: Nice thanks for the info. So out of those 3, you would recommend Tubular most?

    • -1

M4 ipad pro has a better screen, faster cpu/gpu, better aspect ratio IMO

    • +1

If you have to ask, then ipad is a no brainer.

      • +2

I disagree that people skills default to the iPad

@martinezjpo had the correct answer - get what already matches your ecosystem.

If you aren't already stuck in Apple's ecosystem, then I suggest not getting stuck in the Apple ecosystem. So, if anything, people should default to an Android tablet.

        • -2

you dont get stuck in an apple ecosystem. You can leave anytime but you go back everytime

          • @sunnyc: Rage bait L

          • +1

@sunnyc: I see you are currently stuck in the ecosystem.

          • @sunnyc: Rubbish

          • @sunnyc: Silly statement! I for one went from Android to Apple and discovered it was a bitter fruit to swallow. I lasted three months and took the thing back for a Samsung. Now I am Google saturated.

            • @Madbro: it took you three months. You almost had a positive career trajectory.

  • Does anyone know exactly what happens if you don't send in the device?

I can see something about a "security charge" where they seem to hold onto your money and will probably be forfeited if you don't send it in. I'm assuming this is the value of the item you are trading in

    Are there any additional fees?

    • +2

Asurion will charge you a late submission fee of $60.00… Still worth it considering the trade-in bonus. It's "free" $140

      • is it only $60? if so it's "free" $640" now with the bonus

        • $60 plus the cost of traded in device. You can't trade in a S9 Ultra and expect them to only charge $60 for not sending it in.

          • @sekhon147: That, of course. It’s still $640 off. Wouldn’t expect to get the tradein value 😆

        • They charge the cost of your trade in device to your credit card. Unfortunately can't do it

  • -2

friend works at a Telco and told me he got a 50% off rrp voucher through their EPP

    • +6

So $999 but with no extras, whereas this deal gets you the keyboard cover for ~$50 less (albeit needs a trade-in)?

      • +1

Or you can not send the trade-in, pay a 60 dollars fee and it will be only $10 difference for the keyboard cover. Worth it IMO

  • +7

This year the goverment and education store is actually worse off than the standard Samsung store.

  • +1

$674 to upgrade from a Tab S8+, don't think it's worth it. Only real benefit would be longer support/updates.

    • i'm in the same boat, but yeah, not worth it at all. my s8 ultra is still zippy as the day i got it, literally no reason to upgrade, only if i want to piss money away. plus who cares about the ai features, im all for ai, but these arent a selling point to me, especially when they're all going to be on a subscription sooner or later

      • +1

The ai features are a joke. I'm still waiting for the Ai which will calculate my tax for me and do my dishes

  • I got the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra keep or update what’s the difference? Thanks

    • +3

I guess the main difference will be in processing power.

The newer Dimensity processor is more efficient and powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the S9 Ultra. If you care about emulation, you're better off keeping the Snapdragon (S9) as it is widely supported. Other than that, they're very similar.

If you don't use it for heavy video editing or anything that's reeeaally demanding and you feel like your Tab S9 Ultra is not delivering, I don't see the longer OS support as a good enough reason to upgrade right now. You're probably fine for the next 2-3 years with it.

      • Thanks so much will keep my S9

  • this is the version that comes with a pen right?

    • +4

      All of them do AFAIK

  • Does the trade-in ID have to be the same name as the account name?

  • After all those discounts, I am looking for a tab around $500-600.
    Any suggestions?

  • +3

I received a $100 discount code on October 3 via email and not $200. did some people get $200?

  • Does someone need the vouchers for $200?

    • would be nice thank you

    • If you still have a spare voucher let me know. Thanks

    • Id love one if you have…and I love you

    • Would appreciate a code!

      • +1

got nothing from this guy, just open the chat on SAMSUNG site and ask for one.

        • I tried and they had no idea what. I was talking about. What do you ask for?

      • S1T-NPNA-D2X2-LPLL

    • Is this only a trade in bonus? I can't find any info.

  • Tempted to trade in my S8 Ultra and get this for 550$ since it comes with a keyboard case and all the official keyboard cases I'm seeing for my S8 Ultra are going for 300$.

  • Mm, i have a tab s9 ultra 5g, this is telpting but i may hold iut for the s10 ultra 5g to drop. Thanks op

    • I have the exactly dilema, wanted to upgrade as well, also have a s9 ULTRA 5G…………..

      • I got my order down to $500 after trade in and decided present for myself

  • +1

For those doing a trade in thinking they'll only be charged $60 for not giving them the device; be aware that Samsung will advise how much the reduction is with your trade-in but also will charge your payment card to the equivalent of the trade-in value on hold as a 'security charge'.

    It's in the T&C's. Section 5.3 & 5.2 (a)

    • I put my pixel 5 for $95. So, I will get charged for $60 late fee + $95 (already pending) later if I don't send my phone?

      • Yes correct.

      • If you don't return yes. That's why he's to keep the trade in value to $1. Since the value is low, admin fees is also only $30

        • I forgot about that. I tried but I dont any IMEI number for that at the moment.

          • +2

@Bii: Use galaxy watch, it accepts any jibrish

            • @abs898: I already submitted. Not sure if it's too late for it. I should have thought of that.

  • +1

if you have EPP access can get it down to ~$887

    • How'd you do that? EPP trade in bonus is only $200

      • get extra $200 trade in bonus via chat.

        • Even then:

          -$200 for code
          -$200 for trade
          -$100 for TABAI

Brings it down to $1139 on the Gov EPP.

          • @Wilkshake: Depends what's been traded in I assume

          • +2

            @Wilkshake: you forget 20% off, it's showing $1439.20 in EPP/EDU.
            $1439.2 - $200 - $200 - $100 - $5(device)
I'm not sure how to get 5% in the app when selecting EPP/EDU store.

            • @jasoooon: I have an existing Samsung account I linked to EPP, but have never purchased from it. When I checked it offered 5% discount on my desktop pc, not using the app, I can't remember what for but first purchase perhaps.

        • Chat said it’s not for epp…

    • Make sure you're getting the keyboard cover and not the standard book cover

      • EEP is the standard cover.

This offer (including offer period) may be extended by Samsung at any time without notice. Discount is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. Purchase must be made on the Samsung Online Store only (samsung.com/au) and excludes the Samsung Education Store, Samsung Business, Samsung Enhanced Partnership Portals and Samsung Government. Not available in conjunction with any other offer unless otherwise advised. Offer subject to Samsung Terms & Conditions of Sale.

  • Where does one get the $200 discount voucher?

    • Chat via the Samsung website once logged in.
      2 min process.

  • Ouch $3049rrp for the S10 Ultra 5g with 1tb storage.

  • Note that this comes with the SLIM KEYBOARD which is very annoying:

    • cannot take the keyboard off
    • cannot adjust viewing angle
    • does not have touchpad

A proper Book Cover Keyboard is another $319.20 (already with 20% discount), which takes the price to $1.25k. Only $20 difference to the slim keyboard, so I'm sure they are giving the slim one away due to excess stock / no one buying it.

Just cancelled my order after realising I'll be too annoyed with the slim keyboard, and too cheap to spend 1/3 of the tablet price to buy another keyboard.

    • +5

I am the opposite. I love the slim keyboard. There are a few things I don't like about the book cover keyboard.

      • I cannot just hold the keyboard with the tablet open and walk around.

      • I cannot use it on the lap because you need the back flip to come out.

      • I do not use the touchpad. I use the screen almost all the time.

      • Interesting perspective! If slim keyboard works for you then this is a pretty good deal.

  • Does anyone know when the code TABAI and the $200 discount code ends? I think the trade in bonus ends 7th of November. Same with bonus cover

  • Someone take my code before I buy things I don't need. Also, as OP noted, Samsung chat just gives it away if you tell them you have a trade-in.

I d be going for s9+, this is powered by mediatek, snapdragon Gen2 is way more capable in Battery management and long term performance

  • Hmm bonus $500 trade in, comes up to $625 for an s9 ultra, so normal trade in without bonus is $125?! What sort of scam is?!

  • Can I return the book cover to get the refund? Does it show the actual price in the invoice?

    • No shown as $0

      • +1

Ok. Samsung is smarter this time. When I purchased fold 6, I returned the buds 3 for the refund because it showed the actual price in the invoice.

    • No. It is showed as Free on the invoice

      • +1

If that's the case, I don't think we can return it for the refund.

  • +1

I caved and traded in the s9 ultra 5g 256gb for s10 ultra 512gb with free slim keyboard. Trade in was 760 with 500 bonus trade in, tabai code and loyalty code from chat. I also got 40% off 2 yr samsung care. Thanks again op. Cost was about 1100

    • +5

You paid $1100 extra and traded in s9 ultra?

      • Yeah I personally wouldn't be trading up unti I was atleast a few gens behind. Lol I'm still using a tab S5e. I'm obviously the kind of buyer Samsung doesn't want though. Lol

The only thing the s10 has going for it is the anti reflective display. A lot of people would appreciate that feature. Everything else would be barely noticeable jumping only generation up. Lol

    • The only difference is the chip. They both can use the old s9 ultra accessaries….

    • How much $ off do you get for the loyalty code? What would you say in the chat to get the code?

    • I've am S9 Ultra as well, if it was around $500 I would have upgraded, but for my 5g 512gb device the value isn't there. It was about $1000 to do so.

I will ride this one through for the 5 years now unless they offer a better deal. It's not worth that cost imho.

Ordered in the morning, already shipped. Tracking info pop up on my Auspost app. ETA tomorrow.

    • Missed this comment directly above mine! Thanks for sharing that, I am hoping to get stock.

    • +1

PS. My order status on Samsung website is still awaiting dispatch though.

    • +1

They are too quick. I ordered this morning before recived the $200 voucher code. Because order shipped, I can't cancel the order to take the advantage of the voucher

      • Samsung never made it easy. The only way is to place another order using a new account and return this order after receiving it.

        • They said that if I don't open the box, I can return it. But they are not sure about the trade in credit and whether I can use the id again. So I ordered another 256plus I n order to use the code

          • @casmxl: Told me the same. Guy said they'd "issue codes" in case of a difference between today and then. Such a joke considering in their price match policy they are able to refund a difference but can't partial refund this
