    Final Update

    As we arrive closer to the event, just providing a final update/confirmation to all attendees. Invoice and run sheet has been finalised with Fortress. I'll get some Kmart $1 nametags for people to write their names/usernames.

    We are located in The Tavern Semi-Private - 3D view. Ask for Ozbargain event at reception.

    Guests to arrive around 6.20pm, have your Eventbrite ticket ready for me to scan. Catering will commence at 6.30pm.

    Event concludes at 8.30pm but are welcome to stay around.

    There are food for special dietary requirements - please let them have those food as it is limited.

    There are 2x VIP booths for unlimited use of console games so please be considerate and let other guests play on it too.

    Fortress also has their own Tavern Trivia which guests are welcome to attend for free.

    Food

    • All guests have unlimited soft drinks and juice for the 2 hours.
    • Gamer snack packs to be shared - consists of Mac n’ cheese orbs, Haloumi wands, Buttermilk popcorn chicken, Cheesy shroom balls and shoestring fries
    • Pizza slabs - BBQ chicken, pepperoni, margherita, mushroom, vegan
    • chicken wings (korean BBQ, spicy buffalo, plain)

            @konfyu: Yep that's fine. Scotty will add check-ins from the Eventbrite list to Ozbargain.

            Just following what Fortress Melbourne event is doing as they have also closed off registrations and only processing it through Eventbrite only.

    Update 25/10

    Due to reaching limit, I'm going to disable registrations and opening it to anyone including waiting list to purchase tickets i.e., first-come, first-served basis —> same as how VIC is doing theirs.

    As usernames are captured in cart, Scotty/mods can bulk add badges & check-ins after the event.

    If you are unable to attend, please request a refund through your Eventbrite ticket.

            Yep, opened it up as seemed people were deciding on whether to attend or not. At the time of decision, there was probably around 10 tickets remaining.

            There's still the 2 events limit as when neil sends me updated list, I can add into events list to cross-reference it.

            It's time consuming but I guess maybe easier to manage…

      I wanted to join Crows Nest and still on waitlist for that night (I don't want or need to attend both).
      If I have to choose one, I'll gamble and stay on the Crows Nest list.
      Maybe they can follow your lead and open up like you have.

        I've taken down the list as it will keep changing as we comes closer to the event due to

        • refunds can be processed prior to event
        • finding new accounts in list
        • no ozbargain accounts

        Around ~3 on Eventbrite WL at the moment, if there's enough interest we can increase the capacity - venue has max 80.

      Q: Can we bring family members and kids to OzBargain meetups? Will the cost incurred by them be paid by OzBargain?
      OzBargain meetup events this year are for OzBargain members only — you need an OzBargain account (that's not recently created) to register for meetup events. Our meetup budget of $45 per person is also for OzBargain members only. You can bring your family or friends to OzBargain meetups. However if they are not registered to the event, they aren't sponsored.

      Kids aren't sponsored.

      There is also a minor's policy

    I've just called Fortress and they are offering a free upgrade to the 2315 Bar Space. I need to give them an answer this afternoon. Please let me know your thoughts.

    Benefits over Tavern Semi Private:

    • 2315 Bar is a private space - There is a Trivia night happening at the same time in Tavern (members are welcome to join)
    • Space has private bathrooms
    • 30 sec walk to arcades
    • Same access to board games library and Switch consoles only
    • Interactive AI screen and pool table? - not sure what this is.

    Cons:

    • No access to Playstation 4/5 and XBOX

      I think having access to PS / XBOX would be more benefitial for us than having a private space/bathroom IMO.

      Unless there's some sort of programme you have in place for group activities, then the private space would help

      I've been to the private space upstairs for SXSW, there's like an arcade machine with AI prompts and answers (pretty boring), nice clean and themed bathroom in nice secluded area with its own bar (beats lining up in the tavern).. didn't see where the switch consoles were though. Haven't properly been to the tavern semi private area so can't compare.

        Tavern and the private space is split on different levels. Melbourne has always had success at the Tavern so can try it this year and look into 2315 bar next year.

        The space we're in (Tavern-Semi private) is in the back with drawable curtains. They've advised 2315 bar can fit 86 people max but at 80 people I assume it's still pretty tight.

        If people want to chill before the event, Fortress offers happy hour from 5–7 PM where arcade games cost $2.

        I thought link re-opens but from what neil has told me, it seems tickets were allocated to those in line on waiting list. They get certain number of hours to buy the ticket.

        So if someone refunds a ticket, it just goes next in line to the waiting list. Neil then releases it manually.

        I don't have access to the backend of the Eventbrite event - neil tells me which users have paid/yet to pay/ in waiting list

        Badges - I've added everyone who was on Eventbrite into the Ozbargain event list though the mods will have the hard job of cross-referencing on Eventbrite and applying check-ins via Ozbargain.
