    $103.50 per person

Insane out of pocket expenses but also value for Epicurean at the same time lol

  • +6

You have some extremely expensive tastes for an Ozbargainer…

Don't you need to book well in advance for spots? I'd imagine it'd be pretty booked out near the end of the year

    • +2

Just checked on their online booking system for 20 guests - only 5.30pm and 8pm remain. But policy says 13+ guests require calling.

    • Yes you need book well in advance. I have spoken to them already and waiting for the group team to call me back.

  • +4

Haven't you already organised two events??

    • +2

He said in the Queensland one he's cancelling it

    • +1

I'm cancelling the Brisbane one as only 4 registered. Needs a minimum of 20.

  • +5

Shut up and take my money

This has got to be the most expensive Ozb Meetup? 💀

    • +2

This has got to be the most expensive Ozb Meetup? 💀

OzB has allowed so many locals to $ave, and therefore lift the bargain-hunting standards of this game, hence whyisave

      😂

  • Can I bring a guest?

    Asking for a friend.

    • +1

      Is your friend the guest?

      • +1

Yes. Or maybe I'm the guest.

    • Should be fine if they have an ozb acc

      • +1

        That wasn't recently created

    • As long as they are an Ozbargainer and not a new account then yes.

      • What if they are a new user but a long time lurker and the main person who makes me purchase actual Ozb deals, rather than just troll the forums?

        • +1

          That's a no

      • What's the restriction on new accounts?

        • +1

Its a strategy to avoid new signups.

  • +1

    Im broke

    • Bro same

      • You look like one of the wealthiest among us.

I'd like to come to Hyde Park event :)

    • Start your own MLM scheme 😆

      • +1

Ozb coin :P ? To get bigger discounts and cashback ;-) Shopback be like …

  • Doesn’t platinum reduce it by half?

  • So do we have someone that meets the following criteria?

    • Crown Platinum or Black tier card holders
    • +5

      Black tier card holders

Don't think black tier holders would be on ozbargain with their spending. They're the upper echelon of high rollers

      • who knows they could be in the upper echelon of being stingy

    • +1

      Calling on Scrooge McDuck…

  • +2

Now I'm tempted to do a VIC meet up at the Steer Dining Room. Get that quality expensive Japanese Wagyu.

  • Thanks, coming. I've always wanted to go to Epicurean so $44-$50 discount is a bonus

    • +2

Lol you always keen for a good buffet 😆

    • +1

Lunch is cheaper, so that's a. better price point:

      $98
      Monday – Thursday
      12pm – 2:30pm

      • +1

Think there is less food choices during lunch

        • Hmmm…

…is it "$37 less food choices"?

          🫣

          • +1

@whyisave: will they still have Alaskan king crab and lobster tails?

Also most ozbargainers will be at work during that time

            • +1

              @Homr: 12pm - 2:30pm lunch break.

Easier for city folk, or those with RDO.

Tell the boss, it's your family birthday lunch…as it's technically is, ha.

              • +3

                @whyisave: yeh i wish I can take a 2.5hr lunch break

Also we want to enjoy our meal aswell, not rushing to get in and out.

                • @Homr: I can't take more than 1 hour anyway, but would arrange for a day off work just to be able to make the lunch schedule, whilst saving that extra $37.

Also, I don't know how enjoyable are meals which are AYCE and a time-limit. That's eating under pressure as well 😬

Anyway, let's see how this event gets planned.

  • -1

Not really suitable for OzBargain Birthday:

"Some budget examples copied from last year,

BBQ or pizza at public park (with coupons, of course)
Everyone orders UberEats / DoorDash / HungryPanda to eat at the beach and send receipts to scotty for reimbursement
Cheap eat in a cafe / restaurant"

Hopefully there won't be that many to register for this.

    • +2

The budget is the same though? We're paying an extra $103.50 out of our own pocket

      • +3

I remembered scotty mentioning about costs few years back. Scotty likes the overall cost than per-person budget

        • +12

I don't want to think about the overall cost of this year's events. Might need some cheap vodka after running through the spreadsheets at the end.

          • @scotty: How about free vodka? I'll hook you up with a bottle of the good stuff if you're going to Parramatta :)

          • +1

@scotty: Don't worry I have capped this event at 25.

      • Even some of the corporate End of Year events I've seen for this November might be slightly cheaper:
Example: to be held @ Commercial Hotel @ Parramatta + Royal Racecourse @ Randwick

        • Some of us like me are just fat and can't get a good feed from the canapes from corporate events or those set menus from weddings

      • Sponsored by our 💳

  • Note a $50 beemit deposit per person will be required if we get the private dining room (13 or more guests).

Is deposit refundable? Or does it contribute to the epicurean price?

  • +3

    UPDATE

I have updated the event time. The times are not locked in yet as we need wait to see the no. of people registered and will try negotiate with Crown to try and get the private dining room.

If 24+ register we will meet the minimum spend requirement of $3200 to secure the Hickson semi private dining room.

    It will either be:
    First sitting @ 5:30pm - 7:30pm;
    Second sitting @ 8.00pm - 10:00pm.

    • +1

8pm sitting would be good, have time for pre drinks :D

  • +2

Does not pass the ozbargain pub test😂😂😂

    • -1

It passes the 5-star casino test though

  • Great effort FHG. Shame I will be in Barcelona that day. Perhaps next year?.

    • +1

Thanks. I will keep an eye on what group food deals are on next year 😁

  • I've got Ippudo registered for the 1st of Nov, but happy to cancel before the event starts if this is actually going forward.

    • You're allowed to register for 2 events.

      • +1

yeah, I've already paid a deposit for Nikaido Mascot, so that ones locked in

  • +2

Ok we just need 3 ozbargainers to gamble their house away so we can get the platinum discount!

  • +2

works out to be $90pp for under 10 people.

Does it work if you do 2 separate bookings but have the tables close by?

Was looking forward to eating Epicurean under $100🙁

    • +2

This may work, I'll ask them

    • +1

Not a bad idea, true ozbargainer thinking hahaha

  • +1

As it seems we are unlikely to reach 25 people, I will be reducing the maximum cap to start a waitlist so we can make 2 seperate bookings soon before it is booked out.

  • +1

    UPDATE - EVENT BOOKED

Booking is made for 18 spots.

    Meet at 7:20pm for a 7:45pm start.

People will rush for the goodies first and once those run out there's no more so it's very important to be early.

Please pay deposit via beemit to @jason9a

It shows the cap as 17 as I'm not registered in for the event as host.

    • People will rush for the goodies first and once those run out there's no more so it's very important to be early.

That cant be right, pretty sure they will top up the food if its empty. This is Epicurean after all, not some $40 all u can eat Korean bbq

    • Have beem my deposit

    • It shows the cap as 17 as I'm not registered in for the event as host.

You won't get your own badge then… sneaky way to join in an extra event.

      • I think was a glitch or error. Ozb has fixed it

      • You won't get your own badge then

        Which badge is this ?

Isn't it possible to join any OzB event, at own expense ?

        • +1

          Not a bot badge

          • @Fat Horny Ghost: If you go to an OzB event, at your own expense,
and do not get the "Not A Bot Badge", that's understandable.

I just didn't get why not getting that badge, is a 'sneaky' way to join an extra event?

    • paid my deposit :)

  • +1

    Just deposited thanks

  • +1

The below is the recommended dress code, though probably won't be enforced.

    https://www.crownsydney.com.au/plan-your-visit/dress-standar…

    • +2

Thank you for reminding. I have updated the dress code in the table above similar to your Burwood event. It's an ozbargain meetup so I am not fussed about the dress code but Crown casino may refuse entry as per the rules.

    • OzB T-Shirt and MacPac Halo Hooded Jacket.

      https://www.crownsydney.com.au/plan-your-visit/dress-standar…

Crown Sydney strives to provide a luxurious and sophisticated experience for all guests and as such, smart casual attire is required at all times.
Without limiting the types of attire which may or may not be permitted in meeting the overall dress standard, the following are not permitted:

      • Unclean or untidy clothing or footwear, including thongs
      • Lewd, offensive or inappropriate garments or slogans
      • Work uniforms (including high visibility wear), steel cap or other work boots
      • Sporting attire, activewear, tracksuits or swim wear (other than while accessing or using the hotel leisure facilities)

Crown Sydney may request the removal of headwear in certain areas. Management reserves the right to apply discretion in maintaining these dress standards and may refuse entry to, or request a person to leave, where they do not meet the required standard.

  • Thanks for organising. Deposit paid via Beem it. (FYI on the overview page listing all the events. This is listed incorrectly as Tues 26th Nov.)

    • Thanks I have let Ozbargain know on the main thread and added you to the list

      • Thanks. Again same with my other event the s is missing on my name on the paid list. Not sure if it matters…

  • +1

We have reached 18 registered members!

The first 18 including any on the waitlist that pay their deposit first will get a confirmed spot to attend.

Once 18 deposits have been received, those that haven't paid their deposit will be moved to the waitlist.

Note that non-attendance will result in a $50 cancellation fee. You will still have time for any change of minds until Tuesday 19 November. Otherwise your deposit will be forfeited into the pockets of the private equity giant Blackstone and their clients.

    Thanks everyone!

  • Just paid deposit, thanks

  • 5 reserved spots left ◀️

If you haven't paid a deposit to reserve your spot please do so before all spots taken
