Ozbargain's most expensive birthday meetup party in history!

Was $135 for dinner on weekdays, now $90 as Ozbargain / Scotty is sponsoring $45/pp to celebrate its 18th birthday!

This event is for the foodies of Ozbargain who are not necessarily looking for freebie events, but to celebrate 18 years of Ozbargain over unlimited Alaskan king crab legs, lobster tails, sashimi, jumbo prawns, crispy pork belly, chair siu, peking duck pancakes, scallop ceviche, balmain bugs, oysters and a wide variety of other choices across 9 live kitchens and the night views of Sydney Harbour.

Tables already booked with 2 group of 9 people under separate bookings.

If you are joining and are a Crown Platinum or higher tier member, please let me know as this will reduce overall costs for everyone.

Deposit instructions

Only registered accounts can register and join. Please let me know if you aren't registered but would like to sit with us (but need to pay for yourself).

Once registered, send a $50 beemit deposit and bring $40 cash on the day = $90 total. When making the transfer, in the “for what?” field, please write your OzBargain username. My beemit username is:

Note: Your deposit covers the $50 per person cancellation costs for non-attendance if you don't show up, which is an issue with previous Ozbargain events.

Change of minds and waitlist - Let me know before Tue 19 November if you can't make it / change of mind. I will organise someone in the waitlist to pay their deposit and switch places with you in order for you to get your $50 back.

An additional payment of $40 will be required in person (cash) at the event. If you attend, you will not get a refund as your deposit will go towards the total of $90 per person.

Schedule - Epicurean Buffet at 7:20pm @ Crown Sydney
7:20pm - Meet (location TBA) at 7:20pm. I will collect money and check in everyone. Earlier time is because we need to get in quick as the goodies run out quickly (i.e. Alaskan King Crab Legs.
7:45pm - Buffet time - all seated. Don't arrive at or after this time as you will need to find me too busy eating in order receive your deposit.

    Any change of minds please let me know ASAP as there are some people very keen for this event.

    If you're in a waitlist, paid a deposit and is on the confirmed list then you have a spot.

            @Fat Horny Ghost: You can 'combine' the names of those that wish to sit together, and re-calibrate that tool for allocation.
            You will still get the the random allocation done, while satisfying your conditions.

            I wasn't suggesting you use the tool,
            but just pointing out that, something like this was available,
            and it was a reply to the previous comment about arranging someone to take change-of-mind spots, etc. etc. haha

              @whyisave: Yes, we will see table arrangements on the day. We may be positioned on the 9 table next to the other 9 table. I have requested to be by the window to see the view for both bookings.

    I had to remove people on the waitlist / spots as there were people on the waitlist who are confirmed, you can sign up to the waitlist again. It's first come first served for whoever pays deposit first.

    Hi everyone there is a mistake in the EVENT NOTIFICATION.

    You will need to bring $40 per person on the day so in total = $90 out of your own pocket.

    Meet on the 5th level of The Crown Sydney at the entrance to the buffet @7.20pm.

    If you are late for the buffet, I may not be able to check you in when we get our seats and your $50 deposit will go to the cancellation fee / no show if Crown decides to charge me for the no show when the buffet starts.

    Given the chaos with dealing with deposits and payments resulting in an unhappy partner from the Mascot event, I will keep this event capped at 18 persons.

    If you are unable to attend, there is a waitlist of the following members who are interested in joining:

    All you need to do is organise between (1) Confirmed Person and (2) Waitlist Person to swap places.

    Good afternoon everyone,

    I hope everyone is excited, as the crown buffet is on today!

    Meet 7:20pm at the entrance to the Epicurean buffet.

    If you arrive without $40 cash or is late, I will not be able to pay for you as I assuming it needs to be paid before we enter and your $50 will go to the cancellation cost to the Crown if we do enter without you.

    So please bring $40 cash today and come in early to get your name checked off!

    Happy 18 years of Ozbargain!! We made Ozbargain history tonight!!

    Great turnout 100% attended despite the stinking hot weather over amazing food!

    Definitely more value hunters than freebie seekers.

    If possible, I will try to host again for 18 people next November with priority given to the awesome members that turned up tonight.

    From the foodie talks tonight Kuon could be next as I'm not a big fan of buffets 😁 @Homr

    I'm looking for live duo / trio that can do singing (recent Taiwanese/Chinese pop songs + English songs + classical) for Chinese wedding (3-4 hours) includes food for them in Sydney.

    Any recommends on platforms or duos/trios etc.? Should I hit up Chinese Uni music students for a cheaper deal?

    Budget is $600-$1000!

        I tend to avoid air tasker, attracts extra fees + less Chinese that use it. Prefer local knowledge.

    although not perfect, I think Epicurean is the best buffet in Sydney.

      I reckon Epicurean has the best fruit and dessert but for the other stuff minus lobsters I prefer Harvest at Star city. Seafood is colder and replaced more often.

        the lobster tails at Epicurean aren't very good. The Alaksan crab legs, scallop ceviche and bugs are the best bits.
