    None anywhere near Brisbane

    • +1

Yeah, couldn't find stock in Brisbane

    • Its 32gb and ryzen on officeworks page specs

    • Sure it's a typo? it's on the listing in multiple places.
Amazing price it seems, even on 16GB (1tb storage)

This isn't a gaming laptop though otherwise would be a steal

    • +14

890M will play many many games fine

      • -7

and this is Intel Arc Graphics?

        • +7

          its AMD onboard (builtin) gpu

  • Is this a aluminium/metal body all round?

    • Nevermind.

Can someone explain what an "AI laptop" means?

    • +51

When Skynet takes over you're likely one of the first to die.

    • +38

      Let me ask ChatGPT.

    • +5

Series of CPU with dedicated cores or NPU to handle AI tasks. Generally optimized instruction sets, algorithms etc.

      • Is it just a generational CPU or is there actually a choice between AI and non-ai CPU

        • +1

Cant speak for the chipmakers, but moving forward how generative AI and AI engines are being incorporated into Phones, websites, chats etc, most Mobile devices and chips will start including these.

Doesn't mean there won't mobile chip without these, depending on price point/efficiency and costs.

        • +2

It seems similar to how CPUs and GPUs evolved.

You had CPUs doing everything then you have dedicated GPUs appear for calculating and rendering graphics that range from integrated graphics to the latest NVIDIA and AMD.

In the future there might be basic integrated NPUs to super dedicated stuff.

          • @sertse: That's a good point. Just like they split CPUs into performance cores and light (augmented) cores.

I didn't get into the ai trend thinking it just a fad - I checked it out then went "meh".

But I recently had to use it for work and woah, once your aware of what you can do with it and it's limitations (as of now), it's awesome.

When I built my desktop I went with 3000 series GPU over 4000 only cos I could get more vram on the older series then the newer one. It's that freaking useful I sacrificed a few precious fps in my games for it lol

To be honest, nothing meaningful right now

    • Says you can't buy it online. That's probably why.

      • 2 days later of course it says that…

  • +16

This is gotta be a price error. 1.3k seem very very cheap for a new release laptop with new CPU.

  • +9

Well… ordered for click and collect next week… This has to be a pricing error though doesn't it?

  • Wish the swift had 32gb ram

  • +5

Too good to be true but still ordered it.

  • -3

    1 star rate

  • +6

Ordered. Assuming a pricing error, but you never know.

EDIT: check your pricing history if you ordered - says $2697, even though the correct amount taken off credit card.

    • +1

      Same here :S

      • Will be awesome if they honour it.

        • +1

If they're retroactively changing the invoices that have already been paid (pretty sure it's illegal to change already paid-for invoices) then I doubt they'll honour it.

Legally speaking, the transaction isn't complete until you take possession of the item. So, OfficeWorks are still within their rights to cancel and refund the order.

          • +1

@besttechadvisor: Yeah - I'm not too bothered if they do can it. Still living in hope though.

              @gravelc: UPDATE
              1) When I checked out with ZipPay, it was listed for, and I paid, $1279.00.
              2) When I checked my invoice on the Officeworks website it had then been modified to $2697.00.
              3) I then received a confirmation email saying that it's now on backorder due to running out of stock and it will take a bit longer to fulfill, though I can request a refund.
              4) I've just checked my invoice on the Officeworks website a second time and it had been modified back down to the original $1279.00 I actually paid.

Looks like they may honour the original price 🤷

              • +1

                @besttechadvisor:

                3) I then received a confirmation email saying that it's now on backorder due to running out of stock and it will take a bit longer to fulfill

From experience that'll end up meaning that they're not going to fulfil this order and will issue you a refund of you don't request one within 10 days or so.

                • @Trishool: Interesting. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

                  • @besttechadvisor: Mine’s on backorder too. Any update on the call?

                    • +2

@Minari243: My order was due on the 8th when I first checked this morning, then changed to the 24th.

I then called and their entry level call centre staff said "oh, one of those. Those were a pricing error. They're discussing what to do about those now and should be in contact with in the next couple of hours."

That was this morning, it's now 5:30 on a Friday and I haven't received an email call, or text, so their communication is poor.

That being said, my expected order date has changed back to the 8th, so that's a good sign.

                      • @besttechadvisor: My collection date is the 8th aswell. Thanks for the update. Fingers crossed 🙏🙏

      Salute! True Ozbargain

The invoice has the wrong price unfortunately.

        • -3

i'd be happy to put in an hour of photoshop work for $2000 savings.

          • @xrailgun: more like 10 minutes

            • @catchtheaman: oops, drowsy afternoon, read that as "wrong picture" the first time, thinking i'd need to blend a whole laptop lol. didn't even question why there was a picture on the invoice.

            • @catchtheaman: Why waste the time when you could do it in Microsoft Paint in 5 minutes.

    • Keen if they do.

  • When I added it to my shopping cart, it showed 2,697 althought it was losted as 1297. Could not order it in.

  • that was weird, when my bank texted me to verify the transaction, the sms was 2,697! I entered the code but the transaction never went through

    • hahaha… Just checked mine and it was 67 1297. and mine did go through.

    • +3

You still entered the code to charge you the higher amount??

      • Nope… I got it while it was offered for 1297. Still hasn't been cancelled.

        • +1

Haha my comment was for @noslappers

          • @vawiyoci: Yer i did but had a screen shot of the order in case when it back fired!

  • +2

I didn't have enough time to check if this was good value or not before it went back to the right price

    • If it's on OzBargain it must be great value! :D

      • That's the spirit but still need to review yourself haha

    • Buy now, think later… youll know its a good deal when the order gets cancelled

      • +1

That's the slogan. But not always true though seen poor deals or what not when people presume it's a good heh

  • +1

Keen to understand why this is a good deal apart from the oled screen.

    • +8

well… m3 macbook air level performance in a Windows PC. For about half the price of the M3.

      • Thanks. Didn’t know that. No wonder so many 👍

  • +3

Dam miss out. My wife needs bigger size, 16” is perfect for her.

    • +18

Sorry to hear that mate but I would be able to help with the bigger size

      • +5

If you're carrying 16", you're the one that needs help

        • Surely medical attention required wouldn't it?

      • -5

Mate you knew he wrote that deliberately for you respond that way…. I don't know what to say. It's blatantly obvious about "inchs". And you still play along haha
