Just got the order confirmation (with the correct price of $1297 in the order summary)! Looks like they are going to honour it! Pickup tomorrow.

      WOW. Congrats.

    • +1

Wow nice. They should thank ozbargainers to pick that up. Stopped it before it bleeds too hard

    • Me too!

      hey man can share invoice

If you want to compare performance

The AMD Ryzen HX AI 9 HX 370 in this laptop scores over 35000

Intel Ultra 258v scores just over 18000( due to no hyper-threading)

Apple M4 scores just over 25000

Considering this laptop is nearly 3k on special everywhere else. Has to have been a price error.

  • need GF 4050+. Any recommendation?

  • Wow, missed it.

  • Dang. This would've been swell.

  • +3

Was bored and checking OzB all morning. Should've checked this arvo too!

  • +8

On one hand it’s so cheap that it’s an obvious price error, on the other hand ozbargainers will say it’s not good enough for the price

    • those who claim this wasn't good enough for the price can simply be ignored. they have zero clue and their opinions are worthless.

    • -1

Only disadvantage is the deal exists for too short. Otherwise I can go to the store and use ultimate gift cards for another 10% off.

    • -1

It's definitely not good enough for the RRP but I'd be keen to test its gaming abilities.

  • +4

Interestingly Officeworks recommends me this as an alternative which is also 1,297 and appears to be around ~2k elsewhere: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/asus-vivob…

    • Is Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Processor a good chip?

    • Did you order it? Can someone please advise if that one is also a great? JB Hifi is selling it for more than $2k.

    • I hear of software compatibility issues with Snapdragon chips.

      • -3

Hoax? If things works in windows then it works in windows…?

        • +4

Windows is an operating system which has been available almost exclusively on a type of CPU called x86_64 (AMD64) for about 20 years since we stopped using 32bit computers.

Qualcomm Snapdragon is a type of CPU called ARM64, which is a phone System on Chip.

Windows has supported ARM32 & ARM64 in the past, but as a side project for Microsoft. When it comes to the software that is made to run on Windows, because everyone's Desktop and laptops run on AMD64, they are designed to run on that type of CPU.

In order for this new attempt at supporting ARM64 to work, Microsoft is emulating the main CPU type x86_64 to run on these phone SoC's. Almost no Windows based program developers are willing to spend the time and resources porting and maintaining for CPU type used by such a small percentage of their userbase, so without this emulation, their programs would not run at all.

This emulation is a lot like emulating a game console architecture, it requires more resources than native and results in lesser performance due to the extra layer of work.

Buying a computer running on a phone chip is a risky buy atm, Microsoft have already tried and failed before. Apple however has fully converted their laptops to ARM64 for 3 generations now, so Mac apps will keep getting better on these phone chips.

            @Jimbuscus:

Qualcomm Snapdragon is a type of CPU called ARM64, which is a phone System on Chip.

It's a mistake to call ARM64 a phone system on a chip just because it is mainly used in phones. ARM is an instruction set. CPUs can be built and focussed on a specific task. You'll see arm from small devices all the way through to server CPUS.

Why do you think there was never a iPhone powered by the M series chip?

  • Looks like its back
I just bought one of each 16” and a 14” for click collect tomorrow

    • I can’t find any stock in Melbourne :(

    • +1

You are lucky. Too bad no stock anywhere in NSW at all !!! Hopefully if this is the new price, other places will drop eventually???

  • Can anyone share a receipt if they have one with the $1297 price?

  • -2

The only review on OW site is not that good …

Bought this After watching Several YT reviews (10 days ago)
For the price tag the performance was mediocre in addition to that the laptop was overheating.I found during the overheating period performance struggled. What is the point of carrying a light computer that can not do the work??

  • Shoot… I miss it. What a bargain

  • I got one for the Keswick store in Adelaide, pickup tomorrow. Hopefully they honour it.
Thanks op.. didn't need another laptop, but it seemed like a great deal

    • +1

I bought from keswick also 😆

    • Did you guys get yours? I had mine ordered from Keswick too but they’ve cancelled mine

  • +1

Anyone else stuck on payment screen for backorder?

    • They took my money for a 14” at a Melbourne store, but couldn’t get the payment through for a 16”

  • The HX370 is a beastly CPU, atrocious full name aside. Shame I missed this deal but really waiting for Lenovo to stick it in their Legion line.

    • This laptop is a ultrabook so Asus limits its CPU TDP at 28W. Can only expect about 70% of the performance running at full TDP.

      • Thanks. That makes me feel a hell of a lot better after missing the deal.

        • +1

Even at that low wattage it performs pretty darn great. It's pretty insane. Basically knocking on the door of ARM counterparts.

  • Worth backorder?

  • Gets stuck at payment

    • Bummer that it does

      • Just price matched it with JB Hifi :)
        Bought two

        • Selling at $2799 there, and they price match this deal and let you buy 2? Below their cost will be always their excuses …

          • @kaikor: jb hi fi price match is closed, don't believe everything you read on ozb

            • +2

              @Kazusa: https://imgur.com/a/dfvuFdr
Here is the recipient for one of them.

I would suggest do price match before Officeworks takes it down. I'll post review of the machine tomorrow after I get my hands on it :)

              • @ashyboy: Guess i'm eating my words them, perth people are winning xd

                • @Kazusa: To be honest I was surprised with 50% off! End of last year I did price match with my S24 ultra as well for $850.
Ozbargin has saved me over 5k in discount till this date!

              • @ashyboy: Review will be great, as online ones said this thing will be burning hot when being pushed

        • +2

          Wow down votes right away?

How about my picture with two of these bad boys tomorrow

        • Congrats.
          Great buy
This laptop seems almost perfect for what I want in my house. Unfortunately I missed it.
I guess that still leaves the zephyrus 14 '4070' variant as my target for a good sale

    • It's returning "Out of Stock" error, I assume they don't accept back order

  • Sorry if this is not the best place to ask this, but OW have charged my card the $1,297.00 for the "ASUS 14" Zenbook 14 OLED 16GB/1TB U7 AI Laptop", but after paying (confirmed money been withdrawn from my credit card), the OW page now it says it is "processing", with a listed price of $1,897.00.

Any advice on how I may best go about showing this evidence or making sure I can get it for the $1,297.00?

    Thank you

    • +1

There is no way known to people. It's just a wish and a prayer if you hit the bargain you were looking for. If it was a pricing error and they want to sit by thay claim you're SOL.

      • Thank you, do yoh reckon worth calling the store I'm supposed to click and collect from, or might that just cause more confusion? Cheers

        • +1

Don't know at all mate. I'd just sit tight until they indicate your order is ready to collect, and possibly be ready to be disappointed when they ask for the extra cash a pickup. It's all just a matter of luck at this point. Perhaps they decide to wear the cost of the mistake themselves and you get a deal, but they are also within their right to give you a full refund on the basis that it was a pricing error.

  • +3

Just got the last one in SA to pick up tomorrow, hopefully they will honor it.

    • Did you pay with card or gift card?
Mine keeps declining payment. Tried multiple cards.

      • Went with zip money. Shows $2697 in the invoice though. I would update if i manage to pick it before the wise up.

      • Same here.!! Got to check out, tried multiple payment options. Zip took my money, but still return rejected payment. WTH.

        • Thats odd, i chose to pick up at the store, if yours was delivery then that might be a factor.

    • Did you get an email from Officeworks? I still haven't got an email of confirmation… Bank got charged, lucky I took screenshot of order number. But order number is invalid it says …

      • Took an age yesterday for my email and sms confirmation to come through. Hang in there!

        • Did you manage to pick it up from the store? They are saying there is a glitch at the moment snd my order has not been sent to the store and IT is working on it.

          • @Raven1366: Nope… I'm in Hobart and it wasn't in stock. Suggests it's in transit to the store with a pickup date next week. If it plays out I'll be stoked. If not, it won't bother me too much either.

            • -1

@nitens: What do you mean you wont be bothered too much, "security get this man's ozbargain membership card cancelled "

              • @Raven1366: Hahaha… Life's way too short to get bummed about not getting lucky. I don't know anything near enough about retail law to enter into discussions regarding contract of sale stuff. The have taken my money, confirmed the order, and provided me with an invoice with zero outstadning for the bargain amount - I have no idea where that leaves them legally.

                • @nitens: I genuinely wished i could do that, i have the winning all battle mentality which is not healthy at all. Good on you. As the legality of it, they can deny the sale as the price was an error, then they pulled the product and relisted the item with the correct pricing. They have followed the cirrect proccess.

          • @Raven1366: nope - i never received any confirmation - bank charge is pending

      • Not yet, but it does show up in my latest purchases and with different price.

      • +1

Just received the sms and email, pick up 21/10.

        • +1

oh wow - lucky you! congrats!

        • I received the same email and text and then they cancelled it with a follow up email. Good luck!

  • this laptop is a steal for 890m

  • +1

Old laptop just died, and missed this deal…

  • what a great deal! good luck to everyone who placed an order. I got stuck at the payment stage too like a few other people.

  • Well hot dang, At the time I didn't realise this was a crazy deal as I have just got a acer swift x w the 8845hs…

Maybe I should've hopped on this but would've been nice if it was 14 in w the amd ryzen 9.

  • seems order didn't go through - it was $1400 exceeding their threshhold on the system, so order cannot go through, even though they charged my bank account.
good luck to others who bought it!

    • wdym $1400 exceeding? I thought it was $1297

  • +1

anyone got 14 OLED ordered? how it goes

  • My order, with a similar pricing - not the same model got stuck in processing - as in its already been flagged with an error. So expecting it to be cancelled and refunded

  • Gutted i missed this. Even with the invoice, JB arent getting close.

Hopefully another deal around the corner!

    • Exactly right, someone above even bought 2 from JB hifi price match, $2799 -> $1297, hope someone there not gonna lose his/her job …

      • Should've tried JB myself last night when the price showed up again late night. Didn't even think of it!

        • If its below their cost, no way they will do this, right? Even with OW price match, i went there asking for one on a casio calculator from $34.95 to $28, they keep giving me excuses NOT to match that, like it has to be sold by Amazon too, or sku need to match from website etc.

          • @kaikor: Maybe cos the price was listed on the OW website they would've matched a brick & mortar retailer.

            • @RaijnAU: But sure someone will still check their cost price before doing a match, right? No one will be stupid enough to lose so much money handing out a laptop like this?

  • I spoke to their main 1300 number. This was a system glitch and not an actual price drop. Some orders did go through but likely outcome to this -

    • Pay an additional $1400 OR
    • Refund

Is there anyone who actually have these in their hands? You may have gotten lucky if you went and collected it this morning. For the rest who got their orders in chances are slim.

    • I think someone definately pick up already. it's because it was price dropped twice yesterday

  • Now once it is back to $2697 and if you run a stock check, lots of 'Delivery and click & collect' showing up for multiple states.

  • Would not be surprised if the lower price was actually their buy price, so you can see how margin they make.

  • +1

Officework keeps changing the delivery date of my order. It is now delayed to 24/10~31/10.

    • +1

Yea i ordered 3 from different locations. 1 cancelled, 1 back order and 1 no response yet. I only want 1 and just ordered a few incase of cancels

      • Will you sell me one if your other order is successful mate?

        • Name checks out

        • +1

See what happens, if they even fufill one lol

  • +2

My eta pickup day went from today, to next week, and now its at end of the month
I'm assuming next up is cancellation email

  • +2

I got the snapdragon x elite 32/1tb for pickup, maybe i got lucky cause i purchased the deal in the comments not in the post lol

    • It is still a very good deal for a high-spec light ultrabook.

    • Haha it was you. I saw it too but I wasn't sure CPU processor is good or not anyway sold out while I was thinking to buy haha good job

    • Just got my confirmation too.

And the order price, in the order history, now reflects the price paid instead of the current list price - which is fine.

And, now got SMS saying ready for collection.

      • Im the same! Got confirmation, price paid in order history, and SMS as well. Does your email confirmation say it’s on backorder though? The SMS and order tracking says they estimate it to be next Tuesday but on a backorder.
