Soniq 55" Non-Smart 4K TV $299 + $2 HDMI Cable, Delivery to Metro Areas Only (Excl. TAS, NT) @ Soniq

820

In a day when a lot of smart tvs are getting posted, everyone's favourite dumb TV is back. All those extra chromecast/firetv you bought in the past, it's now time to stick it to this tv to make it smart. From previous postings, it looks like delivery takes a while and no notifications are given. I bought a commercial tv stand from them and it was delivered within 3 business days. However I'm in the same suburb where one of their warehouse is, so that could be the reason. Links to previous posts

I paid $350 for the 65 with Google tv

Most unreliable brand on the market
      And tinny speakers too.

No price is cheap enough for Soniq as far as im concerned

  • No delivery options are given when checking out?

    • -2

yeah this is soniq's amazing qc

they never bothered to do a dummy checkout to see if the deal even works

      • Just saw the banner… Looks like free shipping to metro areas only?
I'm regional VIC and would be happy to pay for shipping but no option is even given during checkout.

    Good deal for hedgehogs.

At 300 gold rings this cost three lives!

    • +1

I'm not sure Ron is watching much TV these days with all his health issues.

    • +1

Three people voted this down. Three people have no sense of humour.

      • Or they probably never had a Sega 😅

        • What is a "Sega"?

  • +2

I got this in the last deal. It came with 3 dead pixels. I don’t know what the warranty is but I’ll just keep it.

    • I have this and no dead pixels but I picked it up not delivered.

Have no issues w it really but one annoying thing is my sound bar turns on if I use the home button on ps5 controller / xbox and like I don't need it on when I've got headphones plugged in. Not sure why it happens but perhaps it'd would happen on other tvs as well so ye.

The speakers on this are OK but my $50 aldi sound bar sounds way better lol

      • ah I forgot to add the remote that comes w it is pretty doo doo, hard to press buttons and the battery cover keeps falling off w the slightest resistance.

Funnily it has a 3D button on the remote, wonder what that's for 😂

        • lol I had to go looking for the 3D button, I hadn’t noticed it before. Does it do anything?

      • Try disabling HDMI CEC

        • and then be forced to press the crappy source button? hell naw 😂

          • @AndrewMTG: This is why my phone always has an IR blaster in the 3.5mm jack.

            I hate multiple remotes.

      • Yeah I’m pretty happy with it. The price increases the viewing pleasure lol I use it next to my pc for couch gaming. Using a sound bar as well but connected to the pc. Only using hdmi for picture

Got one of these earlier in the year, i like it. Great value for money and a good size. Speakers arent great but i have Eris 3.5 bluetooth speakers which i pair with a Firestick 4k which sync together great… i can control the Eris speaker volume with the firestick remote! Its awesome! And watching 4k content on the tv is good and youtube. You can tell its a budget tv image but it doesnt bother me much. The higher resolution video you watch, the less you notice its a budget tv, which i like. it does the job and saved me hundreds. So yeah, if you want a big basic tv and want to save hundreds, then this one is good. And it looks fairly stylish too hehe… and Soniqu gave me great customer service when I emailed them about an issue, the lady helped me and went above and beyond to help me with my issue. So yeah, I had a great experience with them and would buy there products again. All I need to find now is a good quality 4k blu ray player hehe.

I got this for mum earlier this year on the same sale. Brisbane QLD took quite some time for it to finally post and it just showed up one day without any shipment notice (might have gone to junk mail). For someone who just watches free to air and maybe sometimes plugs in a HDMI/DP cable to watch something else it's great for the money. No horribly underclocked processor trying to run Android and serve up ads all the time and forcing a wifi connection.

  • can the TV play video files from a USB?

    • Yes, it has 2 USB ports.

    • Yes, but it will be hit and miss if it can play the file

      • Yeah, i have had this with other TV's. they have USB ports but they are just for firmware updates and stuff. not worth the risk

  • For anyone who has this tv from prior deals - what’s your take on the picture if you also have a more expensive tv at home. At home we have an LG OLED, Hisense LED and TCL LED. I’m not expecting this to compare to the OLED, but paired with a 4k firestick will I be disappointed in the image compared to the other Asian-made variants above or will it look pretty grand pic-wise? I appreciate I’ll prob need to sort another sound solution.

Edit: this has my attention as possible bedroom tv.

if your used to watching high quality tv's you will probably notice the difference, and quality of video/image issues that are common with budget tv's that pop up in certain image/video scenes, which will probably pull you out of scenes your watching, distract & frustrate you and make you wish you had a more expensive tv lol. but you get what you pay for hehe. definitely don't get this tv expecting it to look as good as mid range tv's or high end tv's. it will definitely feel like your watching a budget tv. if image quality is your highest priority then you may be taken out of scenes allot most likely.. and you should probably get a tv twice the cost probably & from a reputable brand & model range etc when they're on sale. this tv does the job for me because i havent upgraded the lounge room tv since 2005 when i had a 50" samsung mid range plasma, which i paid $1500 back in the day haha.. so it feels like an upgrade in a way haha.. and for only $299!.. it may leave you yearning for more, if your chasing very good image quality etc.. but atleast it gives you time to save up for it, and it gets the job done, and has so far been very reliable for me. hasn't played up yet. and has meant i can save up money for other things. so, if tv isnt a high priority in your life. this tv is great value for its price.
if you want quality image, and dont want to be distracted occasionally by budget tv image quality. I would get a higher quality tv on a good sale, like that Samsung 75" DU7700 [2024] Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV $845.75 deal ><D… and pay it off slowly with a service like zip pay or something over 6-12 months if you can safely afford to do so. otherwise this tv will probably be a stepping stone if what you really want is high image quality.

      • +1

Yeah I second this. If you’re after a cheap tv then it fits the bill but if you want better picture quality you may as well spend a few hundred more. I’m happy with it for the price, but ever so often you notice the black levels or something else isn’t that great.

      • $1500 for a 50" plasma in 2005 sounds unlikely. We paid that price for a 42" Panasonic in 2008.

        • My memory isnt great… it was sometime back then

          • +1

@JURBA: We also bought a 50" Panasonic plasma for $2500 in late 2007, from HN. I remember at the time it was one of the least expensive 50" TVs available.

            • @Mondorock: I remember buying Panasonic 55" plasma for around $1200 from Bing Lee in 2009. That TV is still going strong

  •    Can it be used as computer monitor, theoretically?

    • +2

      Yes

      • What's input like? Could be impractical if it's too slow. 🤔

        • +1

It's probably more impractical because of its size 😅 you would have to sit a fair way back to view the screen.

          From their site:
          3 x HDMI supports 2.0b
          HDCP Version 1.4/2.2
          8ms Response Time

          Supported Resolutions: 640x480@50/60Hz
          800x600 @ 50/60Hz
          1024x768 @ 50/60Hz
          1360X768 @ 50/60Hz
          1920X1080 @ 50/60Hz
          3840 x 2160 @ 50/60Hz

    • +1

I’d be careful doing this. It depends if you’re doing typing etc. I’ve got it connected to the pc and latency is good enough for some gaming. The colours can be a bit washed out at times.

If your after a big monitor for any sort of productivity I’d look at a 32” monitor from one of the other deals. They can be had for 300-400.

  • +1

I got this in the last deal. The screen is just okay, but the speakers are terrible, really hard to hear voices clearly. You’ll probably want to invest in a soundbar.

    • +1

It feels like all TVs are terrible. I just upgraded from a 6 year old soniq to an LG… LG sounds worse.

Soundbar is definitely necessary, after all, video and sound both contributes to the experience.

  • +3

looks like they ran out of HDMI cables

  • +1

I bought this TV from the last deal and it took around 10 days to arrive and that too with my suburb post code not being in their delivery areas list though it was quite close to the other suburbs that they had listed so was happy with that. The TV has been great and my parents are happy with the picture quality and sound. They had a previous 4K Samsung Smart TV for 7-8 years, so this has definitely matched up to it. I bought a 4K Apple TV to connect to it so now they just use the Apple TV remote to control the TV and never have to touch the original TV Remote. Honestly for the money we saved, this is an excellent deal. Currently we use it as our main and only TV in the house but in the future they plan on moving it in their bedroom and getting a bigger TV for the living room.

  • +2

Do they sell a non smart OLED TV? Not specifically this brand, but its hard to search for this

  • I had a Soniq which I was quite happy with back when they sold via JB HiFi, not sure how they are now as that was a decade ago.

  • Damn, my postcode was included in delivery a few days ago and now it's not

  • bargain, bought one. nice to see there's still a cheap dumb tv around! first tv i bought new, how exciting.

  • +1

Received the TV yesterday. Ordered on Friday. No issue with the TV. Looks nice. Picture quality is good enough. You can tweak the display settings in the settings menu. I changed mine to Dynamic and colour temperature to Cool. Sound was also good enough for me. Although it was installed in a small bedroom. In a large spacious room it may sound different. No issue with Remote.

    • Thanks for the review. Did they contact you to arrange delivery or did it just turn up?

      • Just turned up, like my previous order from Soniq. No notification

        • that is fu cking wild. I live in a unit, I hope they don't just dump it down in the lobby

  • +1

My order was just cancelled due to 'no stock', I ordered on the 23rd
Looks like they're still shipping to other states so it might just be WA stock.

    • hmm, i also ordered on the 23rd (NSW), haven't received any cancelled email nor have i received shipping details haha.

  • I got the same cancel email, also in WA.

  • I still haven't received mine :( or shopping info for that matter I'm legitimately 5 mins away from Brae side lmao

    • Has anyone received theirs yet

      • Not in Bris.

        • Anyone in Bris received theirs yet?

          • +1

@hh100: Got mine. Last Thurs I think.

  • Thanks finally received ours with no issues with TV
