    Need shipping to QLD

    • +4

Agreed. Shipping may be more to QLD, but that cost goes to the consumer. Doesn't make business sense why they haven't opened this one up to the rest of Aus.

  • +1

Happy with my one - cheers OP

    • How good is the sound ?

      • +2

It's OK but not great. Ie can watch the news or a tv show without being offended but it would be unsatisfying for a proper movie experience.
        Have heard worse.
The picture was good to go out of the box. Haven't adjusted or tweaked anything but just tuned it in and that was all that was needed. Don't recall every buying a TV that did not require some degree of adjusting before

      • No complaints for the price and the fact that it is non smart, I am loving it but the sound is pretty terrible. I have connected it to my receiver using an optical cable and no issues.

      • I grabbed this on the previous deal, sound is more than you expect on a $300 tv. Mums cheapo 'smart' aldis tv I had to hook speakers up to as it was so garbage, however this one I am yet to bother buying an optical cable to hook it up to my amp (tv it replaced had RCA out which I was using to the amp).

The downside to this tv is it was very easy for me to notice ghosting in movies streamed via non-4k chromecast.

  • +1

Really happy with mine, I had been holding off on a new TV for years. Does everything it needs to, everything else is done by Google TV. Great combo.

    • yeah same for me, it fit my existing VESA mount, connected google tv (chromecast) which turns it into a smart tv, that worked fine with CEC so can also use out of box remote for all functions, then jus added a soundbar via optical cable. $300 well spent, picked up from Sydney location on last deal, no issues whatsoever.

    • +32

you're not buying a $299 soniq for any of those features, even if it had them, it'd likely be a worse experience with them on.

    • +36

Not many people see a $299 as an investment for their future. Most people will use it until it dies.

        • -2

Such people should study or find a job than rather than watching TV.

          • -6

@dosada: What if they're using it as a monitor?

          • +1

@dosada: To say that "..people should study or find a job…" I find it rather judgemental. Some people, like myself, due to certain circumstances, are unable to find a job. No, I am not a bludger. I worked for just under 30 years until I was diagnosed with a rare condition and was unable to work even before I was diagnosed. I realise that I am in the minority, but believe me, I would much prefer to be contributing to society, than being dependent on government handouts.

            • +2

@omblygombly: I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feeling or generalise it. It was meant as an answer to someone who's obviously trying to justify a pointless statement.

And no, I don't think everyone is a bludger for not working, life puts sometimes people in bad positions, often enough even without them having done anything wrong.

              • +1

@dosada: Oh, no worries about hurting my feelings, thanks anyway. :) Water off a duck's back. All the best.

        • +22

They should buy one second hand on FB marketplace. I've heard they sell for only $100

          • -6

@altomic: This kind of reinforces what I'm saying - if someone's looking for a cheap disposable TV, why would they buy one brand-new instead of getting one 2nd hand for 1/3 the price? $300 - you're wasting your money.

        • It's everyone's personal responsibility to spend within your means.

If this isn't a bargain for your budget limitations, don't buy it.

    • +13

Oh yeah, because everyone is looking to buy a high yielding TV and always thinking about resale value.

      • +6

"oh I'm going to buy this TV so I can resell it" lol . neg

        • -7

You don't think someone might upgrade to a better TV after a few years? Wouldn't the value of the old TV be important?

          • +1

            @Mr Bob Dobalina: 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

          • +11

@Mr Bob Dobalina: No, because normal people would say "It was only $300, and after a few years I reckon I've got $300 worth of value out of it"

Whereas you're the bloke who'd put it back in its box and try to sell it on Friendface on $280 "as new"

          • +1

@Mr Bob Dobalina: Keep the old TV and use it in the bedroom, etc.

          • @Mr Bob Dobalina: You can guarantee this one won't depreciate by more than $300.

    • +5

I see several of these TVs for sale for only $100. So basically the minute you take this TV home it's dropped 66% in value.

That is a weird way of saying "it has amazing resale value as it only depreciates by $200".

    • +3

Its a TV not a car lol.

    • +10

Thank you. I was considering expanding my investment portfolio and moving into budget TVs.
I guess I will look elsewhere.

    • +4

The entire price of this TV is still less than what you would lose reselling a flagship TV model.

      • -4

Excellent point. Nobody is suggesting buying a flagship model though - an entry-level TV from a name brand would hold it's value much better.

        • +2

Noone is buying a second hand entry level brand name tv costing say $1500 for any more than $1000 on marketplace i would guess, hence at least a $500 drop in price, much more than your $200 price drop.

        • +2

It's still the case that the entire price of this TV is still less than what you would lose reselling an entry-level TV from a name brand

  • No delivery option to NSW?

    • Metro NSW only. Same thing for VIC. I am in Regional area and no delivery available.

      • +1

        I meant metro Sydney.
Only option is driving to Regents Park. A long way.

      • 3810?

  • +1

Or WA . Amazon limits it to 55" . Binglee via ebay no . Appliances online via ebay sometimes . But it is WA so probably to risky re long freight damage.

    • +1

I’m in Perth and recently bought a tv from Sony’s eBay store. Arrived with a cracked screen

  • +9

Hoping more non-smart TV around. In the end, most of us will use other media player like firetv, nvdia shiled, or even xbox / ps5 to watch netflix

    • "Smart" TVs are people too dumb to understand how a HDMI cable works.

  • Thanks op, purchased one

  • @soniqaustralia do you have any larger panels that are non-smart? 75"+ size that might be suitable as digital signage?

  • OK. Those who have bought, what is the picture quality like.
Is it bright and contrasty, or pretty washed out. I know it's hard to compare, but just trying to get a feel of how acceptable the picture quality is.

    • A little bit on the darker side, compared to other known brands , they are just much more colorful. Would rather add a few hundreds for a Hisense. Regretted

      • Thank you. I do think I would feel the same. Still great price though.
I think I'll go for a better screen even if it costs more than double this.

      • Honestly I have Both Hisense and Soniq (and other TV's) most of them are just much of a muchess if you are comparing the same panel type

        • +1

They all have their pro's and con's.

Hisense model's from my personal experience have a ridiculously annoying long delay time when switching between inputs or channels. Sound quality is better than expected and image quality is generally above average for their price point.

  • A 1-year warranty will be provided instead of the previously offered 3-year warranty due to a promotional update.

Are Soniq not confident enough in their own products?

    • +1

My daily driver FHD Soniq must be over 10 years old now and still going.

      • -4

This one?. Our Soniq purchased in April 2014 just dropped dead. Terrible picture, reds in dark scenes. Won't be buying another Soniq.

    • Not any more.

  • Got one, thank you. Any idea of pick up times for SA depot?

    • I too am hoping to find out the hours. I contacted their support email from the Facebook page and it bounced straight back.

    • Have you got a pickup ready email yet? Bought one from Gillman too.
It did say 7-14 days tho.

  • how many of these tv do they have?

  • +2

Immerse yourself in a world of unparalleled entertainment…

What does this marketing gibberish even mean?

  • Did anyone do a pickup and can confirm the "packaging dimensions" listed on their website (showing 1352mm x 203mm x 865mm) are accurate? Just trying to work out if I can fit the box in the back of my car, as they won't deliver to my address (even though I'm less than 30 mins drive from their Truganina location)

    • +1

My Mazda 3 sedan has more than enough space to fit this after putting down the seats.

    • It was easily fitted in my SUV

      • Shortest measurement is 20.3 cms.

  • +1

Is your braeside pickup location open on monday Labour Day?? Just wandering.. i work during 9-5.30pm monday to friday i got a tv to pickup. I paid for click and collect but don't know how I can pickup if you guys aren't open for pickup on week3nds or labour day. Work won't let me off.

  • +7

Ozb Admins, can we get a tag/category thingy for non-smart TVs please?

    • +1

      I second this request !

    • +1

      yes please

    • Sorry it's a bit too specific for its own product category. It also may not always be clear what is included in that tag, ie what is a smart / non smart tv exactly. You'll have to use the existing product category tags and self filter (TV, UHD TV, OLED TV, LCD TV).

  • The TV cables are quite confusing, is this RCA male plug compatible with this TV? Or do I need this PAL one? They look very similar

    • +1

Technically that RCA cable would work, however it is a single cable designed for digital audio and this TV only has optical out for that. Also has other RCA connectors, but doubt you'd be using any of them. Only one that uses a single cable is the composite video input and I'd really hate to see how that looks. You want a PAL cable if you are planning on watching regular TV. Wouldn't buy a monster anything though.

  • How's the picture quality? I understand it's not going to compare to a >$1k tv. I currently have a TCL from about 3 years ago (think it cost me $400) and it's passable but not very good, especially in a bright room.
The pre-installed android tv is very slow on my TCL. So a non-smart, with an external smart system, is the way I wanna go

    • I bought this TV a month ago. I see a strange white pixel in the black panel. Looks like a dead pixel. I might have to call the service centre. Beware folks. Looks like a very cheap panel.

    • My TCL smart TV software is terrible. Slow and unresponsive. Will not buy another TCL TV again.

  • A 1-year warranty will be provided instead of the previously offered 3-year warranty due to a promotional update.

lmao that's shit then. My Hitachi died a month or two back. Had it for about 2.5 years. Figured I was SOL until I Google'd and found their 3 year thing, came and picked it up and ended up getting a refund when they couldn't fix it no worries. Shame when companies bail on good practices like that. Sure, my TV dying doesn't give me a shitload of confidence in Hitachi, but their service after the mark definitely made up for it.

  • Need more of these. Just plug in a Chromecast for an experience better than 90% of smart TVs.

  • Purchased this TV in the last round. Used purely for the PS5 which replaced my old 42" plasma
IMHO, its fine for what it is which is a budget 4K TV.

We picked it up from the warehouse. The box fits perfectly in the back of a VW Tiguan (2013) with the rear seats down.

  • Big thumbs up for the deal itself, even though can’t buy (QLD).

  • purchased last time round, it's been with a nvidia shield and a speaker system

  • I bought one before, it will suck dusts…

  • Got a 40" Soniq, had it for ages, works like a charm. Wish it shipped to QLD

  • Dropped into Braeside last week snd asked if this deal was coming back 'No.' So i bought their clearance 58" smart TV. Might have to ammend my order.

  • That 1 year warranty instead of 3 is a bit sus. Albeit doubt ACL would align with a TV only lasting 1 year.

  • -1

Needs HDR 10+. I don't care about the smarts but HDR is now standard in most entry level TVs.

  • Shame no delivery to sydney. Can't find the option. Would have pounced on the deal.

    • I bought two to be delivered to metro Sydney? $35 freight

      • Hi, can I know how did your order get accepted? I dont see nsw as an option for delivery

  • Bought it. Now I need a bigger car to carry it.

    • i took mine home in my 2009 toyota corolla hatch back.
