Sign up to a 30-Day Free Trial of Office 365 via Microsoft Defender & Earn 1,000 Microsoft Rewards Points @ Microsoft Rewards

170

So, you might see an offer on your Microsoft Rewards page to snag 1,000 points just by signing up for Microsoft Defender via office 365 subscription.

But here’s the catch: if you click on it, you’ll need to pay for Office 365 to actually earn those points.

A smart Redditor figured out a way to get the points without paying, as long as your account hasn’t trailed Office 365 before. Here’s how:

  1. Download Microsoft Defender from the Microsoft Store.
  2. Log into your account.
  3. You will be given the option to start a free trial and be redirected to a browser ( Make sure it shows 1 month free trail on the page too)
  4. Proceed with checkout and enter your payment details. (I used a old prepaid Mastercard with 10 cents balance and it worked.)
  5. It will redirect you to a page to collect your 1,000 points or click on the offer on your MS rewards page.
  6. Cancel subscription and remove your payment details.

There might be way easier to get points without downloading microsoft defender app, feel free to share.

What can you get for 1000 points?

    • Just use it to save up for something more worth it. I use it for free Game Pass Ultimate, haven't paid for it in years and have my sub until 2025 sometime so far. I collect the daily points on PC, phone and Xbox though.

    • This is the real question. 1000 'points' might as well be 1000 frangerdoodles if we don't know what they're worth in something comparable (such as, say, Aussie Dollars)

About $1 for 1000 points… you can get a $1.25 Microsoft voucher for 1085 points. Cheapest points offer I could find quickly.

      Fortnight of Game Pass Ultimate.

      Step 1: make new account
Step 2: do this 1000 point thing
Step 3: smash out 85 more points via searches, clicks, w/e, it will take a minute max
Step 4: cash in $1.25 Microsoft credit
Step 5: subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate 2 week $1 trial
      Step 6: profit

I got banned from MS Rewards for using multiple accounts and automating most of the tasks… I managed to pocket around $200 in Amazon rewards before they banned me lol.
One account is still good, but I cbf with just one account.

    • Teach us your ways, brother. 🙏

You can't really do it anymore. It's much harder to earn points and they ban accounts at the drop of a hat.

I keep getting hit with cooldowns. So annoying.

  • I can’t seem to get the points to count. The offer appears on my Microsoft Rewards page, I did redeem the free month as per the steps, I’ve tried doing it in Edge without all my adblocking stuff, but it doesn’t seem to call back and tell Rewards that I signed in like it’s wanting me to. Any suggestions are welcome please

Also anyone that is an Xbox Ambassador, they’re closing the program (or just the seasons, dunno don’t care), and you’ve received a free month of game pass ultimate in your Rewards tab. I didn’t seem to notice or get a notification for this but it was in there.

    • I'm having the same issue

    • Only if you were active in the latest season it seems. I've not clicked onto it in ages despite "being" an ambassador for years, no GP for me.

      • I've been heaps active this season unfortunately

        • Ever get anything cool from the program?

I got a badge next to my profile, about it.

  • I'm about to crack my first 7500 or so points and I'll be using it to renew PC gamepass so I can continue to obsessively play Fallout 76 on a second account without having to pay for it. The short answer is the program use to be way more lucrative but has since been neutered so it's harder for new people to gain points quickly. It's taken me maybe a month and a half of daily effort to get these points and after this I don't think I can get them quite as fast as some of them were one time deal bonuses, I think.

    • Fallout 76 in particular is dirt cheap at the moment due to the influx of codes for sale from the Amazon Prime deal a month or two back. Last I looked, you could pickup the Xbox version for under a dollar from a million places, can only assume it's the same for PC. I'd save the 7500 if it was me.
