Awesome I got $50 x 4 again…. Barely taken a breath from the last one , loving it

    • +8

I'm hating it. Its such a good discount, but unless you have products you can use to make up the shop you tend to overspend.

It's funny how a 25% discount is too amazing to let go, but spending $4 on something that you'd normally only buy at $3? Eh just grab it, need to make up the shop

      • +1

        This is the way.

        • +14

I hate that it's the way. I have 200 tins of tuna because of it but I can't stomach eating tuna more than one or two times per week.

It's gotten to the point I need to start creating new people just to get rid of this stuff. I used to wonder why people did it, start a family. Now I know

"Why was I born Daddy?" "Tuna, son. Tuna."

      • It's not really possible to live on under $50 per week though is it? I agree with the offers I get like spend $110 as mine is normally $80-90pw or so, but $50 is like… meat and veg and that's about it.

But if you really need to make up a $50 spend, there's always washing powder, shampoo, toothpaste, dishwashing liquid, and various frozen foods that you don't have to think about touching for 3 months unless you run out.

        • +1

No, it's not too hard for $50. It's a good deal. I'm just critiquing the logic of it. I've done it many many times (I have multiple accounts) and it always seems super simple at the outset, and then you get to the store and there's suddenly problems. Meats an even better example. I usually get mine from Aldi because it's cheaper and better, but if I'm making a shop, why not get it at coles that week? Only an extra $2/kg.

I'm outside the norm tho. I try to get the best value and the lowest unit price. I do things like take peaches, out of tinned peaches, and weigh them, to see how much you're actually getting. Then I buy peaches, cut them up and weigh the usable yield. Then I can judge: Given the time and cost, is it worth doing myself? Or do I keep buying them. Prices have gone up quite a lot recently. How far do they have to increase before it would be better to do it myself?

But to bring things back to the point, they only send these offers to people who spend under $50 a week. So if you can easily make the shop, you ain't getting it

        • +1

It is when you have Aldi and woolies as well close by and shop the specials between them

        • You need to get more accounts. The return seems best on $50 spend. I usually do it on 3 accounts for $150 per week total and get $150 back ie. 25%.

      • We stock up long life milk or pasta.

      • +1

You guys are soooooooo close to working out what """loyalty programs""" are about. Sooooooo close.

        • +1

Haha, worked it out years ago. I reckon
I am winning. I can spend $50, only buying things i need and use, and only on special.

Sure there are mugs, who will spend $100 for $100 of full overpriced items…. I spend $50, get $100 worth of stuff, and get back $25 on top. So loyalty programs can be worked out!

    • Same!

I thought I was done carrying around my calculator app but I guess it's time for round 2 (Live alone and don't eat much per week, reaching $50 is actually a challenge at times 😅)

      • I wanna know what you under-$50'ers are all living on! A packet of meat is basically $15-20 on it's own and that's about 3 days worth…

        • +1

So, I don't eat meat for a start :P (Not vegan or anything and I'll order it or eat if out at a party, just don't have a desire to cook it much at home) Fish is usually half price every other week. I bake my own bread and living semi-rurally I get free chicken eggs from my parent's acreage when I visit them :D

To be clear also when I say <$50 that's typically in one shop from one store though; I do the thing every Monday when the catalogues come out in making my shopping lists across both woolies and coles from where the best pricing and specials are, so spending like $30+$40 across both stores is common.

        • +2

I spend over 50 bucks a week, but Coles' meat, fish, and veggies are so bad and have so little variety compared to butcher shops and green grocers. I am struggling to find stuffs to buy so I sometimes buy frozen crab or prawns to compensate. ;)

        • I wanna know what you under-$50'ers are all living on! A packet of meat is basically $15-20 on it's own and that's about 3 days worth

don't eat meat, and like to only buy things on sale

also prefer to shop more frequently than one big shop. I also go to woolies when they have sales that coles does not have.

        • I spend more than $50, but my spending is highly variable. I might spend $80 at Aldi, getting coffee and butter and eggs, but then not buy any of that for another month or two.

Now some of that can be switched to Coles, but often it costs just a little more, and the quality is just a little less.

        • I spread the love between Aldi and woolies and coles as they are all together for me.. so $50 just at coles is a stretch when I’m sale chasing

  • All of mine are 60 :(

  • $80, guess I'll be shopping at ALDI for a while

  • +1

    $110 :D

    • +1

      slow down big spender

  • +5

I love this offer. They also provide some random bonus offers each week, making it even better.
I earned around 19K Flybuys points during the last 4-week offer with a total combined spend of around $240

  • +3

    Finally got the $50 one!

  • +2

$250 spend each week for 20,000 points making it just 10% back… think I'll give this one a miss as the cupboard and freezer are already full.

    • That is crazy spend. Are you feeding a small village?

      • Just my wife and myself. We normally spend around $300 per week over multiple shops to ensure we have plenty of fresh fruit and veg. Also, we eat salmon twice a week as well as eye fillet steak, both of which are expensive so it adds up quickly. If Coles was like Woolies and allowed the spend over multiple shops then we would have no problem fulfilling it.

        • +3

Why don’t you just break it up across multiple cards? With that spend you could easily spread it across 5 cards.

          • @nightelves: True, that would be an option but it's not something that I would choose to do.

    • I got the same. This is just stupid lol

  • Got a 50, 80 and 90.

  • +2

The key is don't use your flybuys every shop. Only use to take advantage of these deals.

Min spend would be linked to flybuys spend overall.

    • Keep them interested with a milk and bread scan every now and again to show them you’re coming in, but not spending

  • +1

    $120 spend

    GTFO Coles

  • +2

60 this time for me, was 50 last round

    • +1

same for me, but my other unused flybuys accounts are also 60 (not linked) which is weird.

      • ikr! I have a flybuys which I haven't used for several months and it got deals for a $60 spend …

    • That's how they get you, its not free money. It's a user training program so that you learn to spend $60+ every week and then next time 70..

      • I had 50 offers for years, then 60 last time, and this time is 70. $80 next?

        • +1

          No $180 next.

  • I only got spend $110 to get $50.

  • +1

    $130 nah I'm done.

Couldn't even get the previous one because click and collect didn't have the item I needed so I missed out.

  • $50 here, surprised they didn't try to bump it up after all this time

  • +1

$180 or $230 spend. Time to shop elsewhere for a while.

  • +1

4x$50 here, stacking with 2000 points for $70 ending tomorrow. Ordered a slab of posh beer on the app using APP20 to get another 20% off…

    • +1

DON'T bite on their $70 spend. Next offer will go up to $70 for 4 weeks. Takes forever to get them to go back to $50 after they upped the offer.

      • Yeah - took about two months to go back down after my last big spend.

I'm away over April so that by May I should be able to train the algorithm to send me realistic offers again.

      • Strange I made a $347 spend on the 13th Feb but I’m still getting the spend $50 offer.

  • $290. Yeah nah…

    • +1

Time to cut back on the ham.

  • Got $50 this time - last times offer was $60. Maybe I'm not shopping enough at Coles :)

  • +1

4x$80 for me after we’ve continually had 4x$50 all last year and 1 this year.

This year we’ve had 6 or 7 of the 1 off - spend $70 get 2000points. One after another, it’s been great. And we’ve done every one of them. Been raking in the flybuys this year.

Pity it’s crept up to a $80 shop now.

    • +1

Disloyalty. Get a new flybuys card and watch your $80 drop back to $50!

      • that's if you get it. We got it last time $50, my husband nothing this time and mine is now $70….I rarely have it more than $50, but they jacked it this time

        • +1

Then you need more flybuys cards, so you ALWAYS get it

  • +1

$160… eh, trying to cut back, probably won't hit this 4 weeks in a row

    • +2

Yeah $160/210 for me also. Gonna have to pass.

  • +4

Easiest way to achieve the weekly target is if you're a regular Opal card user. Simply just top up $50 every week. Its not in the exclusion list…

  • Perfect timing to top up my Opal card at Coles since I have to WFO three days a week now.

  • I haven't gotten a good targeted offer since 2021. Is it time to open a new account?

  • after missing the last few ones, I am back in the game baby!

  • +1

No doubt Coles is doing better than Woolworths now, deals likes this keep everyday customers shopping in Coles.

Woolworths should sack their imcompetent marketing team when they think they can keep the sales by keeping the marketing budget to theirselves. For last year, My family's Everyday extra yearly subsriptions were only used to collect the free perk items when they offered barely nothing other than the 10% off, and if they keeping offer perks like 10% off BWS, we wont be subscribe next time.

  • +1

Just finished this last week for me. It’s a targeted offer that comes and goes for each flybuys account. Really good.

The only weird part about this deal is that they hide the offer from your account for few days and have to trust their stupid system to do the work for you. 🤷‍♂️

    • +2

yes, at the beginning of the new week it disappears until around Wed….I always keep the receipt showing that I have completed a shop to make sure

      • It's normally under your coles app or flybuys account as well. i always forget the dates of shops and keeps coming back to app to refer and its hidden xD

  • mine is $70 this time….waah, my husband didn't get it this time

  • +1

$80 again for me, don't see me spending that much as last time was hard to make the minimum spend.

    • you can top up on long life products such as kitchen rolls / infamous tps / canned good to make up the difference.

  • +1

Make sure to wait for the Friday and Tuesday deals as they can stack on top of this offer.

  • +1

Sounds good, but inevitably they will fail to deliver half the order, bringing you under the threshold so you don't get the points.
Or, like last order on sunday, wait for delivery which is late, late, then sorry, not coming at all.
Even opting for substitution they still screw us regularly by omitting enough to drop the $20 or $30 to miss the points.
Too often to be bad luck.

    • +1

Shopping in person is best, but if you cannot, shop at the beginning of the week, surely they can deliver by Sunday. As for missing Items, keep your invoices and at the end of the 4 weeks email them with copies. I also include a sc of when I activate the offer, as one time they said I did not. You could even be ahead if this happens. I have done this successfully dozens of times.

  • Is it possible to make up a relative living at one's address and use a different mobile number to get an additional Flybuys account? I need to get back to $50/week offers.

  • Last time $60 and this time no offer 😓

  • I have a spend $60 a week, is best ozb practice to not let the flybuys enabled transaction go over your spend requirement ?
i.e. when it get's to $60 and I have some more stuff left in my trolley, finish the transaction and pay the remainder separately without scanning the FB card.

I don't want the algorithm give me higher target if I go well over in one week.

  • If you have trouble hitting the spend amount, you could buy a an item or two that help you get there and then return them at the service desk later because you changed your mind. Especially if it is a higher priced item not currently on special that is on special somewhere else.
