Amazing deal. Imagine all the things you can fill this with.

    • +2

how many grains of sand do you reckon it's good for?

      • +26

Fifty. This is a weak piece of crap and that's why it's 50c.

Honestly, don't buy this POS. It's landfill, don't support that.

The neg is due to my experience with this product.

        • +2

Meanwhile Reps are posting jacked up plastic fake bargains all the time and hardly get any negs.

Buy the 20L black buckets with metal handle. They are UV stable don't go brittle under aussie sun. They are also much stronger and stores 2x the amount. They usually go for $10 I don't know about now but they definitely last 10x longer than the $1 ones. You can flip them and sit on them no problem. Not so sure about the $1 bucket seats.

Most of these $1 buckets are made out of cheap polymer, they can't be recycled please don't support them.

          • @skillet: The Bunnings brander green buckets with metal handles are also really good. You can get a lid for them and they are often on sale.

          • @skillet: But they're 50c

        • yeah agreed, had enough of grabbing one of these in the backyard only to discover it's cracked/leaking/half-disintegrated etc. get one of these at least.

        • +1

I bought one of these, filled it with water, leant it LIGHTLY on top of the tap handle to steady it and the newly bought bucket cracked and holed where the bucket touched the tap handle. I swear the Chinese manufacturers shave off a couple of micrometres each year to save a cent or two as the buckets seem to get thinner and thinner. Next time, I'll fork out a bit more for a decent, thicker walled one.

        • How does this $1 version from Kmart compare?
          https://www.kmart.com.au/product/9l-bucket-grey-43394098/?

          • @scottishdave: Indoors it's ok. Don't leave it in the sun. UV will eat it for breakfast and lunch. The plastic handle is rated 5-7L. Fill it up to 9L and see the round rim turn oval.

$0.50 with free OnePass delivery is diabolical

    • +20

Especially when I order 10x of them but in separate orders so I can have them all each delivered individually to make it feel like I'm super important and getting lots of presents in the mail..

  • +21

I'll never forget what my grandfather said before he kicked the bucket. He said:

"hey grandson, watch how far I can kick this bucket."…

  • +10

Use these instead of plastic bags ;)

    • +2

one day they might even be cheaper than the bags

  • +2

Bought, finally can use my free onepass delivery

  • -3

    Deal of the decade easily.

  • +5

    With handle??!!!

I can finally get rid of all my buckets without handles….after all these years….

    … Bless you, OP. Lol

    • The handle will no doubt snap off after the first use, but oh well.

  • +5

    Is this suitable for kicking?

  • +2

My whole life I thought these were 10L buckets.

    • +2

They are, and I'm 6 foot tall with an 8 inch…

    • You are right, I have seen them in 9L, 10L, 11L and 12L. I worked in a plastic factory in Asia when I was young. They just use less or more material when we load the raw pellets so they cost a little different.

  • These buckets are so shit, but for 50c, I just buy 10 and toss them when they inevitably break.

  • +7

F the environment because why not

  • +14

I can finally take this one off my bucket list

  • +2

But Liza, what should I do if there's a hole in it?

  • +4

Not suitable for making sand castles.

Big corporations should be fined for importing products of such poor quality that it amounts to reckless polluting.

This landfill is only available for 50¢ so that, when it inevitably breaks and you decide to buy a bucket of saleable quality, Bunnings can charge an exorbitant $11 for their buckets and say "well, if this is too expensive, we have this affordable alternative".

It creates a false sense of choice so you feel like you're paying more for something premium, when you're really just paying 20 x as much for a bucket with twice the plastic.

  • +1

Yeah, I was waiting for these to drop before I took the plunge

  • +7

Would also add my negative experience of breaking one of these buckets taking it out of the boot after the drive home. Incredibly fragile and destined for landfill within a month

    • -2

      Thank you.

Now thats a great use of the negative vote. Personal experience that helps us understand why not to buy, rather than "its a weak piece of …" that tells us nothing other than an opinion ?

      • -1

I said enough. Seriously, some people.

        • +1

Not sure why he is downvoted, I understand in this case it is obvious but imagine you are buying a brand new house and your comment is

"It's a weak piece of crap stay away willl be landfill"

Everyone will be like okay.. but how so?

          • Did you have parties on the roof and people were jumping on it?
          • An earthquake?
          • Hit by a tsunami?
          • Big bad wolf blew the house down in one go?

What test made it weak is all, just helpful in providing context there is no malicious intent here

    • I use these bucket as bin. It is cheaper compare to the paper bag they sell at woolies.

  • Back when I was a kid, buckets were 10L.

    • 🤣 Yea that was when walking home from School meant you probably had developed the strength to carry a 10l bucket….

      • One in each hand carrying rocks for the driveway

        • +1

And it was up uphill both ways.

    • +2

      shrinkflation

    • +1

I remember when Big Macs used to be big.

      • +1

        And a cheeseburger was $1.35

  • +2

Better off getting used one from a construction site. I've bought a few before, and they are just landfill. A delicate wind would break the handle and a load of feathers would cause the plastic to crack.

  • +12

Perfect for bring-your-own-cup slurpee day at 7-11

  • -50% off great deal!

    • -50% off great deal!

      Minus 50% off means $1.5.

  • why are buckets so cheap, but garbage bins are so expensive?

    • +1

      Reinforcements

    • UV stabilisers, reinforced polymer, much bigger and intricate mold design(think $$$). Alot of these garbage bins are also Made in Australia, think labour cost but good stuff. There's also rubber and a metal tube as the wheel axel. Material cost $$$. Buckets sells much more than garbage bin, think economy of scale.

  • Dirt Catcher/Trap deal required to use it to wash the car.

    • If you are so cheap you don't care about such fine detail.

The 20L buckets are much taller better for dirt seperation.

  • Great to use as latrine in the jungle

  • +1

I need more of these in my life. Always have a spew bucket in reach, my uncle Keith said. Nothing worse than needing a bucket but having to resort to the favourite salad bowl instead. Coleslaw hides the sour hint.

  • +1

What happens when the bucket kicks the bucket?

  • +1

Finally something I can afford for the kids Christmas present!

  • totally useless, will crack if too many people look at it at once
buy one of those $3 ones, and don't go thru a dozen of these like I did

  • good for a camp shower

  • +1

Of course my home store is entitled enough to charge full price
