Great price , have this dryer for 1 year now and very happy, it consumes very little electricity

    • Same here, but April this year
It replaced the LG I bought for 3x the money… But broke just outside warranty & I don't have any fight in me.
Economy probably cost me $5/year more, and everything about it feels like plastic. Doesn't have all the wifi stuff I never valued anyway. But I doubt I'll be back to the big brands

Im not so lucky. They (massively) boosted the rebates mid-August. I took delivery of my Samsung dryer a couple of weeks before. I got rebate $263 and now it's $490. And don't even ask about the 3 split systems I got installed early in the year…
Never have I known these rebates to become better value until now.

    • Anybody had experience with this? I live with my partner and our rent is exactly $500 a week, could that include us in the "Under $500" group?

      • Without reading the actual terms and conditions its hard to say. None of you have a healthcare/pension card?

  • +1

    Cheap washing machine anyone?

  • any long term reviews (2+years) anyone?

    • +1

I have some relatives who love it and they’ve been using it for about 2 years. Im not sure but I bought one too now 😅

      • used for early 3 years - almost daily. nearly 1000 cycles - working perfectly. just clean out 3x lint filters weekly

        • +1

          3 filters?
The one on the door opening.
The heat fins on the bottom left of the front.
Where's the third if you don't mind me asking?

Or do you mean the 2in1 in the door?

    • +2

Nearly two years here, although only used once a week. Still works a treat. Have had no issues. Started using dryer balls to prevent things sticking together due to static.

I would buy another if mine broke down tomorrow.

    • +1

2 years and 3 months, gets used regularly, no complaints so far.

      • we need to go longer. (3+years) anyone?

        • Pretty sure this model hasn't been around over 3 years, but my older model 7kg esatto heat pump dryer hit 4 years last month and is still going strong (I don't have a washing line, so everything goes through the dryer too).

    • +3

Have to be pedantic about cleaning the filter, both of them, even then the fins also get dust on them, which turns to moist dust and super hard to get off and can smell mouldy in time etc.

    • Have had it for a while, close to 2 years. It stopped working once, because the water pump got clogged with goo. This is a part which is NOT mentioned that should be cleaned from time to time, in the back of the machine.

      • Is it easy to clean?

    • Had the popular 7kg one for 2.5 years before it broke. They spent about 3 weeks trying to fix it, first thought it was the water pump which is a common failure. They then gave up and refunded original purchase price back via Appliance Online and I got a new one.

    • I have the 7kg version bought 3.5 years ago from ozb deal then, very happy with it, no problems ever. 3-4 times a week in winter because of the wet melbourne winter.

BTW, I put mine on the ground after my 15 year old bosch washing machine died months after I stacked them together.

    • About two and a half years. Bought a 7Kg model for circa $560. These dryers are excellent value for money.

    • Works great, much better than an old-school vented dryer, takes a bit longer (as all heat pumps do).
Great value, 2.5 years going strong. No issues with lint, just clean it every month or so, takes 2 mins.

    • Bought the 7kg version 3.5 years ago. Runs 3 times minimum a week, working perfectly fine. I run in auto mode. You need to clean the normal filter pretty much every week once (very easy to do so). Drying quilts is a bit tricky as it gets tangled / pillow covers gets stuck inside.

  • +3

Works well though prone to the lint getting sucked into the condenser fins at bottom left behind the panel. Pain to clean there as you have to be very careful not to bend the fins e.g. using a toothbrush or similar. I think there used to be a 2nd filter there but due to cost cutting mine only came with the standard lint filter.

I'm trying a piece of flyscreen against the condenser fins to see if it can be an easy way to catch any lint not caught by the standard lint filter.

    • Fly screen mesh is a great idea

      • +1

Although on closer inspection I note the one I bought was slightly different model number. EHPD80 not EHPD800-W. Don't know if any different internally. The grill at bottom right looks different to mine: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/304545205332

    • +1

I have this "newest" model and can confirm the PIA of dust getting past the filters and into the fins. There would have had to be a second filter there but im assuming it was removed not due to cost cutting but because it was getting clogged too quickly leading to other issues. I to am working on a solution with a similar mesh to the supplied filters just to make cleaning it easier

      • So you have the model in this deal? That surely sounds like too annoying an issue to make this a good deal? I'm confused as to why people seem to be raving about this but also complaining its a pain in the ass to clean.

  • Can it be stacked over the machine without much issues?

    • Yes

    • +1

Can it be stacked over any washing machine or are there dimension-related considerations?

      • +9

yes, unspeakable things happened when my uncle tried to stack it over a four-dimensional washing machine

    • +2

Yes, just use an anti-vibration mat.

      • -1

Any suggestions which one, seem a bit expensive

    • +2

on top of a front loader, yes.
hung on the wall over a top loader, no.

  • Thanks OP, had been holding out for one for a while

  • We've had this stacked on our washing machine for a long time now. I feel like it runs pretty much every day. Never had any problems. Great price.

    • @fruxo literally stacked on your washing machine? Like your washing machine is carrying the weight of the dryer? I've always thought they'd need to be separated

      • +1

Yes, it's no problem putting a dryer on a washing machine. We just put a rubber mat in between.

        • +2

Which rubber mat? The ones I've looked at are $50+

  • -2

Typical statism. Just because 65% of our revenue comes from GST doesn't mean you gotta treat us like this.

    • I think they were meaning how it excludes regional of every other state as well.

  • +1

Their eBay store won't deliver to regional SA but their website will for a total of $515. I think I'm going to pull the trigger.

  • Thanks OP got one…now all I need is a washing machine.

    • +1

      Same

  • Bought one recently, lint filter light never turned off and have only got to use it once now that the technician came out and said that's weird and we are looking at getting an exchange but maybe a refund and get something else. Couldn't fault their response and the quick resolve.

  • +1

Tried to get one, but inputting the coupon code SEPSNS during checkout says "Looks like that's the wrong code".

Is anyone else getting the price below $513?

  • How is this compared to the samsung one we usually see on sale?

    Thanks

    • +10

      Samsung are horrendous for whitegoods

      • My washing mechine, fridge and mivrowave from 10 years ago is still going strong

        • +2

My 9 month old washing machine I got directly from Samsung died today. My second Samsubg washer upstairs has OE error (pump). Fridge keeps freezing fridge items. Disaster!
Oh and the microwave is gutless

        • +2

          Hello Samsung employee

But seriously, they are known to have design faults (eg. Mixed metals in contact in their washing machines, causing corrosion) and it appears to be intentional because it's systematic to have faults across so many different devices and they don't seem to bother to update their designs to remove issues

    • Thank you

  • +1

I got 5 years out of mine. Worked well until it didn't. Very happy with Appliances Online

  • Is it ok to place this on top of a dish washer?

    • +1

Yes. As long as you remember not to put your plates in it after the wash cycle

  • Does anyone know if this will safely stack on top of LG WV5-1208W?

We live in an apartment with limited space - so we are a bit limited with space.

    Appreciate any feedback.

    • Have managed to stack it on the 7.5kg LG washing machine, used some rubber stacking pads from Bunnings. So seems like it would be fine

      • Apparently the dimensions don’t (pardon the pun) stack… it looks like there’s VERY little room for it to stack on top. Hoping someone else with some experience can chime in?

        • Not an expert but you could put a board that is slightly bigger in between the washer and dryer for a bigger footprint for the dryer to rest on?

    • +3

I have this exact combination actually!
It's close but it does work. I bought this rubber mat from the Good Guys and its been great.
I also bought a 5m cambuckle tie-down (not a ratchet strap) from Bunnings to secure them both together but probably don't need that really.
Just make sure to level out the washer before stacking.
PM me if you want some photos

    • +1

As others mentioned, just get a rubber mat to put on top the washing machine and put the dryer on that. In 2 years it hasn't moved at all.

  • There seemed to be a few comments about the lint filter getting easily clogged and hard to clean but they have now been unpublished, possibly due to wrong model number I think.

Can anyone who has one of these confirm if the lint filter is fine? I'm happy and used to cleaning a normal lint catcher but don't want to be deep cleaning fins or internals every few cycles. I'll plain just forget to do it!

    • Yeah I got mine wrong also as it's the Solt model. Need to constantly clean both filters, fins get clogged with dust and become wet, mould may occur etc etc

      • I bought a solt and it died within a week from excessive sparking out the back. Good guys online are extremely painful to deal with 10hrs on hold

        • I have the solt too, if you leave door open for it to dry is it much easier to clean lint out of the fins?

          • @Brick50: Dunno, mine died before any of those issues could show up

  • This vs a normal dryer, assuming 2kwh vs 5kw hour. 2.5 hour loads, 6 times per week. Total time to recoup initial investment = 34.3 weeks.

    • Specs say an input power of 800W. I think a normal dryer is somewhere around 2KW

    • +2

Why would you run a dryer every day when the sun is free? Only for a rainy day.

      • Maybe they are American. It's a weird cultural thing that Americans think you are poor if you don't use the dryer. Rofl

        • Washers and dryers (and fridges) almost always stay with the house (or come new) when buying or renting over there.

        • Not only that.. Due to the whole culture thing (can't think of any other reasons), many of their apartments don't even have balconies (like some of very old apartments here) so you can't even dry in sun anyway. Different story for houses.

      • +1

Because it's free with solar and not everyone has the space outside

      • +1

The sun is giving me free power via solar to run the dryer

      • My courtyard only gets sun between 11 and 3 in winter/autumn. Also hard for wet clothes to dry when it doesn't get above 10 degrees.

  • Great price for a heat pump dryer. I'm pretty sure I paid a similar amount for my 1 star energy rated non-heat pump dryer.

  • They still said I have to clean the lint at the back of the machine. Did you have to rotate the machine to do it because that's a painting that ass. Especially when it's stacked at the bottom.

    • +1

What you do behind closed doors is your business…

      • Is water based or oil based best for painting one's ass?

      • It has to be done right behind closed doors otherwise you ruin manufacturer warranty. What do people mean exactly by at the back?? Is the filter just inside back or what?

  • Just bought it for $513 last Saturday, can I ask them for price protection?

    • Please ask them and let us know

  • Do these heat pump dryers take longer to dry than your regular dryer?
