buyer beware. i bought a heatpump dryer from these guys, they gave us the runaround for about a month or two before we had enough and decided to get a refund, as they still had no ETA on the dryer (they are known for selling items that they don't have in stock), they first claimed they would refund, nothing happened, they ignored their useless online request forms, they only gave the refund after i submitted a dispute on paypal.

i would not buy anything from TGG.

    • +1

I bought one 5/6 weeks ago and i literally had no problems. I got a call from the local TGG the next day for a delivery arranged. Must be dependent on what area you are in.

Also, excellent price. I paid 730 for mine.

      • +1

I bought LG washer 4 weeks ago. Was told it will be delivered sometime next day and the driver will call us before coming.
Come next day - driver was at the door at 10am without any notification. As we were not prepared for that time they made us rushed to disassemble the existing washer for pickup and also they spilled dirty water from old washer hose onto our carpet and they were totally normal and did not even apologies.

      • Bought a fridge in the middle of 2020 lockdowns, website said it was in stock but like the next day after making the order we got a call saying it wasn't in stock and would be a few weeks, no biggie as we werent in a rush. They called back around the time they said it would be available to let us know and organise a delivery time, also refunded us the installation cost without asking too.

All in all wasnt a bad experience, they did let us buy something they didn't actually have but from there the service was reasonable.

I have had bad experience with TGG as well.

I ordered a Westinghouse refrigerator instore and paid for premium delivery which included: installation, removal of packaging and old appliance. When the delivery guys came, they said that they cannot take it up the stairs and blamed it on me for not specifying. This is something that TGG were supposed to ask me when I was paying for the goods and service plus they should now be well aware that Australia has a lot of units and houses with stairs.

Thanks to Ozb, I read it somewhere that in this case, the best course of action is to reject the delivery as the delivery guys were quite keen it to just the fridge in the garage. I then reached out to TGG via call, who asked me to send this request as an email which I did. It took them 10 days to delivery again after a multiple emails and calls. Even then, on the day that the delivery was scheduled, I got a notification that the driver is on the way. But when they were 15 mins away on the app, I got a call saying that they forgot the fridge.

Irony is that the next days, same delivery guys came and were able to take the fridge upstairs. Even with that, they dented the fridge a little and one of the screws on the fridge was missing. I sent an email to TGG but no response. There was no point in me chasing after them. It was a painful experience; this is why, I wouldn't recommend buying from TGG.

      • How could they find out they forgot the fridge when they are driving? It's speechless when I saw they forgot the fridge…

        • I believe they were leaving from their last delivery place and would've checked the next item on delivery.

      • I would ask for a discount for the terrible experience.

    • +3

they gave us the runaround for about a month or two before we had enough and decided to get a refund, as they still had no ETA on the dryer (they are known for selling items that they don't have in stock)

Almost as if they're actually not the good guys? 😲

      • +1

Bad Boys. Pay more. Pay more!

      • +1

        The not that good guys.

        Are we the baddies?

        • Not exactly. The Good Guys are the perfect corporate cover for a Bad Bank ;-)

    • I agree that the online request form is useless.
But when I called their phone number, they processed my refund instantly.

      • I called them and that's what they said they'd do, but they never did it.

        • Std Operating procedure: Staff are paid to talk to stall you. They will process your refund, but the only way to be sure is to get the Ombudsman to tell them to. Until then, you are held in customer funnel 029233331241-1.

Besides, they have your data, that's all that matters

    • I've never had any problem. I ordered a dryer and they called immediately to let us know there was no stock locally and the ETA for delivery, and offered a refund if that was too long. I said I'd wait.

Then the manufacturer discontinued the line, so TGG called and offered to upgrade me to the next model up free of charge. So pretty happy with them.

    • Yep I bought a $1500 stove from them 3 weeks ago online. Was in stock and still hasn’t shipped. They don’t even have a cs phone number.

A reasonable bet for a lot of generic products is that they are made by Midea Group, looks like this is too.

    • It's part of this group - https://residentia.group/

Midea could be linked, certainly looks similar.

      • +1

Midea Group is the Chinese OEM that manufactures this machine, so that's useful if you want to find manuals or similar machines, but doesn't help with warranty. As you pointed out the Australian owner/distributor of the Solt & Esatto brands is Residentia Group, so that's useful for warranty purposes.

So essentially this should be exactly the same as the Esatto - down to the after sales support. Maybe TGG (& JB?) wanted an exclusive brand so organised "Solt" ?

        • Yes, good clarifications.
I should also point out that Midea is the consumer brand of Midea Group. So what I linked to isn't technically right, but they don't seem to list their products on their wholesale website.
Fun (or not) fact: Midea actually make most of the world's microwaves. I believe it's somewhere in the region of 90% of the worlds microwaves are manufactured by Midea.

  • Good guys also have $40 conceirge for $300 spend

    • +1

Not quite. $20 discount and $40 extra as store credit

Does this have sensor? I don’t see it on the website

    • Yes, you can see the manual for the same unit here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12406064/redir

      • Thx!

        • Aldi/bunnings 8kg version has sensor modes too. Read the manual - just because it wasn't listed on the appliances online website doesn't mean it isn't there. I think the people in the Bunnings thread are incorrect

  • +3

looks like this is 6 star rated one where as aldi one is 7 star.

    • +4

and aldi one is bigger too

      • +4

Explains why it can fit more stars

I wonder whether paying double for a Bosch (or brand name) one is worth it… guess I’ll have to do a bit of research

    • +1

You want something that does reverse tumble. I'm pretty sure Bosch don't and that's a big reason to avoid

      • What ones do?

        • +1

Electrolux do. I have one and it's great

          • @jm7: Which one

            • @asa79: I have EDH903BEWA. It's been replaced by a new model now though

              • @jm7: Hey jm7.

Can you tell me roughly how long your Electrolux heat pump dryer reverse tumbles for?

        • My Hisense one does depending on the program used. Bedding will reverse tumble for example but standard won't.

        • The haeir does

      • Based on past electronics failing in Bosch appliances, I would steer well clear of them.

  • +10

I've had this for almost 2 years, doing 2-3 full loads a week, been flawless

    • +1

Could you tell us what settings you use for regular clothes, and for sheets?

Several user reviews mention clothes are rarely fully dry at the end of even multiple runs, because the sensor cuts in prematurely.

Do you stick wet laundry in straight from the washing machine?

      • +2

I normally just use the 'extra' setting for everything which is a 3 hour cycle but normally finishes early.

When I first got it I did use to have to run it a second time as it would stop early, but it hasn't done that in the last 12 months at least. It can stop and start at the end of the cycle a bit to make sure it's dry.

Normally just stick it straight in went.

        • +2

So if you take laundry out of the dryer straight after it's done, are they bone dry or do you need to leave them in there for a little bit?

          • @andresampras: I have one for a bit over a year now and the only time I've ever pulled wet stuff out or needed to run again is when I've overloaded it with Sheets & Towels. These things seem a bit more sensitive to the weight limit than a regular dryer but if you stuck within that then it's great.

          • @andresampras: Bone dry.
On occasion I've back 4 loads one after the other in a day and all bone dry.

            • @SammyK300: Great thanks. I've also read that subsequent loads are quicker than the first one of the day, since things have heated up in there already.

        • You can also use the "intensity" button which I think adds 3mins per level (4 levels max) to the cycle time.

        • +1

Straight in no kissing? I may invest in one of these. Thanks

    • +1

Does it have an sensor to calculated drying time?

      • +1

The sensor will stop it when it thinks its dry

      • if a dryer has options that aren't just time based, then it would have some sort of sensor.

  • any idea why SAVEBIG coupon doesnt work at checkout? seems to take the code but no change in price

  • What are chances of getting ALDI special buy? Can you usually walk in in morning or do you need to line up from 3am?

    • +4

I would just pay for the extra $97 from bunnings instead of waiting in a cold and rainy winter for 5 hours :)
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/esatto-8kg-white-heat-pump-dryer…

      • Is $697 regular Bunnings price? And I can’t see matching capacity washing machine on their site

      • If you buy the Esatto, don't for get to register to receive the extra 1 year of extended warranty taking it to 3 years

    • +2

You've a decent chance of getting one early. Just practice sprinting, elbowing, and backhand punches and your set.

  • +2

So if one has a 7kg washing machine, does one ideally purchase a 7kg dryer, or 8/9kg?

I've read that dryer weight is weight of WET clothes, so not the same story as a washing machine

Go to Page 11, obviously that's for the Esatto however but use as a rough guide

      • +1

Thanks but it doesn't really answer my question - the guide specifies different max weights for different types of laundry/materials, I assume these are WET weights.

But what size dryer would handle a full load of jeans from a 7kg washing machine?

        • It's the weight of dry clothes not wet.

          • -1

@cerealJay: You are incorrect, see below.

            "Wet or dry laundry?

A question that is often asked of us is if the capacity of a washing machine is measured in wet or dry laundry?

Capacity is always measured in the weight of dry laundry and should not be confused with dryer capacity which is instead, measured by the weight of damp laundry.

So, for a 7kg washing machine, you can expect to fit a maximum of seven kilograms of dry laundry.

Be aware however, that the total capacity for the machine does not mean that this full amount can be washed for every cycle. For example, a 7kg washing machine will only wash the a full 7kg load on specific programs."

            source: https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/washing-machine-capacity…

        • First line of product description.

This white Solt heat pump dryer has the capacity to dry 7 kg (1kg the weight of one dry towel) or one queen doona,

Considering max weight for Jeans setting on this machine is 5kg I'd weigh a single pair of jeans in both dry and wet conditions then make a judgement call from there.

          • @StevieRay:

1kg the weight of one dry towel

That's very heavy for a single towel!

I just weighed the largest towel I own: 640 grams. Not even close to 1 kg!

    • For this particular dryer, you can find the manual here: https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/midea-mdhp07-7kg… (as it's a rebranded Midea unit) and in that manual it says (pg. 18):

The rated capacity is the maximum capacity, make sure that the dry clothes which are loaded to the appliance do not exceed the rated capacity each time.

NSW resident here, I don't think our government cares too much about helping residents.

    • Is there anything for VIC?

From what I can see you can get $60 but only if purchased from a few retailers

  • +2

If it's the same as Esatto 7kg Dryer (EHPD7) then go for it at this price by all means. You won't regret. It's been great using it during these never-ending monsoon days. I purchased it only 2-3 months back but I should have got it late last year before the crazy rain spells started. (PS: Energy prices are going up steeply, just saying.)

My doctor tells me to avoid this brand every time he sees me

    • Change your doctor!

      • Put him through the wringer!

        Hang him out to dry!

Make him do a reverse tumble!

  • Not in stock at the shops near me, called the "Sales" telephone number to ask when I might be able to pickup … entered my post-code and was directed to a store nowhere near here (seems it just goes to whomever picks up) sales person could/would not help identify when it would be available, so I gave up.

  • I would suggest not to buy Aldi one. I purchased Stirling dryer in past and the performance and quality of filter, removable parts etcs are not that good.

  • I practically bought all my big and small appliances from goodguys. Washing machine, TV n Refrigerator on eBay TGG, rangehood n electric oven in store pick up. All were done last year. And microwave today picking up later tonight. Jeez that’s a lot of stuffs! Got their Concierge for 3 items(max unfortunately) and happily using their $20 credit. Only downside is only 5 days of spending it!

  • If your store doesn't have stock or availability, call their sales 1300 number they can put it as click and collect once stock comes in. Just did it before.

    • No cashrewards/shopback though - or you don't have to actually order through the phone?

      • +1

No they send you a link. You can activate cash rewards and shop back from there. Link is under good guys domain so it recognises it. Just be wary of coupon/credit codes messing up your cashback

  • Can we use two different concierge to buy one product?

  • How is this dryer compared to the Akai 8kg Heat Pump Dryer AK-HPD8S retailing for under $1000? It comes with 3 years warranty and is a reputable Japanese name brand compared to this solt Chinese OEM dryer

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/akai-ak-hpd8s-he…

I’ve got a new 1k prepaid visa gift card that I need to use soon.

    • +1

It was originally a Japanese company but have been sold long time ago, now owned and manufactured in china

      https://www.channelnews.com.au/new-expanded-akai-home-applia…

It’s similar to other Japanese brands in Australia like Hitachi, which is now just Chinese rebrand, quality might not even in par with big Chinese brands such as Hisense and Media

  • Esatto Australia do amazing support just ring them for any issues just prove you have a reciept, i had one of there units fail after 2 years, they replaced it with a new model, picked up the old one from regional victoria and delivered the new one as well same day.

As a airbnb host with 4 properties i only buy Esatto as they have long warrentys advance replacments and a dedicated australian contact centre..

  • +1

Will this last 20 years? I hate low quality products that don’t last at least 20 years.
