Not the best of deals but it's back and higher than last week.

Up from $1000 gift card to $1200 gift card for the $99 and from $550 gift card to $600 gift card for the $79 (although 2 weeks ago this was $700 and then went to $550).

If you need it to sign up for the new iPhones then here you go!

**The deal just got improved as of 19/09 to $89 per month for the same $1200 gift card.

Update Sep 19: $89 plan now only gives $1000 gift card instead of $1200

@Fancydancer: I feel like I was being gaslighted haha. Some real OzBargain noobs on here today

  • Same 5g speeds/coverage as if I was to sign up to a new plan direct with telstra?

    • +1

      yes

  • Gift card offer ends 18/9. iPhone not available in store until 20/9

    • +1

Nevermind. Sign up to plan and use voucher 2 days later.

  • What’s the cheapest sim I can organise e-sim or otherwise to then transfer to Telstra?

    • +1

just sign up as new customer .. donk

  • $1200 seems like a good deal, I don't think it goes much higher than this?

    • +1

Not lately but $1400 November last year was the Bomb

  • Is this a good deal for anyone not intentionally wanting to cancel the plan?

    • No

  • Hi all, this is my first time doing this and I’m a little confused. I’m wanting to buy an iPhone 16 when they come out. Can someone explain to me how I can get the biggest voucher, happy to purchase another phone like Samsung and then return it if needed. Thanks

  • Telstra network and Technical Support is terrible for me. Had engaged with technical teams (overseas & locals) for more than 3/4 months, they were asking me same troubleshooting process again and again. When I asked them, I want to change the plan to lower plan they asked me to pay for the handset in full amount. I gave up fixing my issue. Just got stuck on $99 plan for 24 months. Never again!

    • Was this the good guys deal with the 1650 off Samsungs? You cancelled your plan and they made you pay the phone in full?

      • It was JB Hi Fi, iPhone 15 deal on last December

      • JBhifi seem have the same $1650

        • Do you know when the deal finish?

  • This is what states on JB website under the plan:

The $1200 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card will replace the value of the Voucher stated in the Critical Information Summary. If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan’s minimum term.

Does this mean that the amount in the cis changes to 1200 meaning when you cancel you have to pay 1200?

    • No, it means they’ve replaced the value of the voucher they are giving you. Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee remains the same ($800).

  • Thanks @Fancydancer. Could you assist me please. Can I go to the good guys, get the plan which gives me $1650 off a flip 6 phone. Leave the store cancel the plan on my phone costing me 766+99, then a couple days later to go into the good guys with my unopened phone and return it for a voucher worth 1797 to use on a new iPhone 16 when they release? Am I missing something and is there any risks involved where I potentially loose money? Thanks

    • Looks ok until the bit where you try to return the phone - I’ve never done this but have read comments from other similar deal posts that they will only return a voucher for the $800 amount. I can’t confirm this though sorry.

      • Okay so when returning the phone I will only get an 800 dollar voucher back? What if I was to return the phone first and then cancel or that won’t work either?

    • I can't say for good guys, but for JB Hi-Fi they said they can't do this because the extra value on the GC must be associated to that phone deal purchase, so you wouldn't be able to return it after.

Did this for the first time. Signed for $99 plan, bought iPad with voucher. Seemed hassle free process of cancellation through telstra app chat, got refunded $99 first month as well.

    iPad cost $1297
    Less voucher: $1200
    Cash paid:$97
    Cancellation invoice :$767
    Total cost :$864
    Net discount :$433

    • good share. does voucher have to be used when sign up? or possible to keep for further purchase?

      • Voucher can be used later. I didn’t really look at the voucher so not sure about expiry date. They converted my voucher into gift card for payment.

    • Is the cancellation fee payable via jb hi fi gift cards?

      • Don’t think so.My cancellation fee invoice is payable to Telstra either by Direct Debit or debit/credit card.

    • Hi mate, I was having trouble to get the first month refunded. Do you mind sharing some tips regards? cheers!

      • Same. I had to try 3 times. It all depends on the rep you are talking to. I was telling them change of mind/no longer suitable/etc. but they were very strict until the third agent.

        • Thanks for replying. How to switch to different agent? because when I reopen the message, it has the prior chat history lol.

          • @Gocl: from their FAQ

            Can I cancel my plan?
Yes, you can cancel your plan at any time by calling us on 13 50 75 or visiting a JB Hi-Fi store. When you cancel, your service will be disconnected immediately. We won’t refund any money you’ve already paid and you’ll need to pay out any remaining Voucher Repayment Fee.

  • So am I correct in saying you can sign up without purchasing a phone and end up with $433 off outright iPhone 16 range when using the gift card?

  • Anyone know what the cost will be if I go for an iPhone 15?

    • around 850 for ip 15 -128gb

  • Can I stack GC with a trade in discount and coupon vouchers?

  • I am on Boost now, seems excluded as part of the Telstra voucher offer. To be eligible for a voucher, you must connect to a new The Good Guys Mobile service or transfer an existing service from another provider (excluding JB Hi-Fi, Telstra or Boost) and sign up to a Better or Best plan.

    • +1

Just get a new number, why are you looking to even transfer your boost number and pay $99 every month !

  • is it true that there are no consequences from cancelling on the same day?

    • You have to pay Telstra $800 approx

  • Still worth it at $1000? :( Didn't see until now

    • No wait a couple of weeks, it’ll be back soon enough

      • Any thoughts on their offers post 2 October 2024? Looking at purchasing an iphone 16.

  • Do JB run this all the time or will it really expire on 2nd Oct?
