  • I can use Ultimate Him to buy apple gift cards in jb hifi, right? Just swipe and select "credit"?

    • Ok just read in FAQ that it's now forbidden according to T&С from Nov 2023. Wondering if someone tried to do that since

    • I attempted it last year and it worked, but it seems they have tightened the rules, limiting the number of Apple Gift Cards you can buy.

      • Depends on the store. Some will do some will reject

  • +3

FYI, there is currently an issue with the Ultimate gift card website, where one page says the Ultimate Students gift card includes QBD Books, but another page states it does not. I have asked Blackhawk Network for clarification, but I am yet to receive a response.

  • Is there a limit?

    • +3

It’s says 30,000 max points. (20 points per dollar spend) so $1500 max. Please correct me if wrong. I’m still trying to work it out for myself.

      • +1

        Math checks out yes. $1500

  • Anyone know if you can use any of these to get apple gift cards? Eg buy Apple GCs with JB? Or have they put a stop to this?

    • Unlikely, I don't know of any places that still do gift cards with gift card purchases

      • Some jb hifi let you do it. I have done it in the past no problem at all.

    • Why not just buy Apple products from JB?

      • -1

Apple you have 14 days to return it, if you don’t like it. I guess that’s why people do it.

      • Already have some Apple GCs from prior deal.

  • +2

Cards cannot be used towards the purchase of any other gift cards or vouchers at participating merchants.

  • So what does it work out to be saving wise? 10%?

    • It's not a cashback or discount (and you can't cash it out), you need to spend the 10% you get in flybuys. So discount wise I would only consider it ~9%.
e.g. uber eats can be gotten with 10% discount, I would prefer that over the 10% back in points.

    • +1

I don't know if this makes sense for you.
Consider purchasing $1000 worth of gift cards; you generate 20000 flybuys points. This can be exchanged into $100 worth of flybuys dollars, when you spend the money at Coles or something. So given that yes, it is a 10% off.

      • -1

Not really, when you use flybuy dollars you don’t get flybuy points.

  • I got given one of these and annoyingly JB hifi does not allow you to use them online - instore only.

    • +4

I'm pretty sure you can exchange them for JB-Hifi digital gift cards on the Ultimate Gift card website. Then you can use the JB gift card online or in store. All the best.

      • Thanks! Didn't know this. Will try it out :)

    • +3

@Hunter14 I've bought one of the Ultimate gift cards (with JB Hi-Fi) and exchanged to a JB Hi-Fi eGift Card to be used online (type expiry date as 12/29): www.exchangeyourcard.com.au

The Ultimate Gift Cards are a range of physical gift cards that are exchanged here for a participating merchants e-gift(s) Step 1. Visit the Exchange website www.exchangeyourcard.com.au enter your Ultimate card number, Expiry and CVV located at the back of the card underneath the scratch panel. Step 2. Select your e-gift card/s of choice, from the list of participating merchants. Step 3. Once you've checked out and confirmed your order, you'll receive an email with your e-gift selections. Step 4. Now you can redeem your e-gift cards at the selected merchant/s, either instore or online.

Ah awesome. Didn't know about this. Will try it out. Thanks a lot!

    • The Ultimate gift card website says you can use an Ultimate gift card directly on the JB Hi-Fi website, but you need to redeem it like a Visa card.

      Has something changed?

      • I tried entering the gift card number but there's only 16 digits on the physical card and they require 18 digits. However, as some people have kindly pointed out - you can exchange them to a JB hifi gift card which should work.

        • +1

An exchange would work fine for JB Hi-Fi, but not all participating retailers allow you to do an exchange.

For future reference, do not enter the Ultimate gift card details into the Gift Card section of the JB Hi-Fi online checkout (or for any participating retailer, for that matter). Ultimate gift cards are not redeemed the same way at JB Hi-Fi as a JB Hi-Fi gift card. You instead need to enter the Ultimate gift card details into the Credit/Debit Card section of a participating retailer’s online checkout. (I hinted at this in my previous comment when I said you need to redeem an Ultimate gift card like a Visa card. For example, you do not enter the details of a Visa credit card into the Gift Card section of the online checkout, and the Ultimate gift card is no different.)

Is it still restricted to a maximum of one Ultimate gift card in one transaction online at the JB Hi-Fi website?
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14524385/redir

I needed to redeem several physical Ultimate gift cards to make up the amount so it was easier to convert them to JB Hi-Fi eGift Cards.

JB Hi-Fi website mentions using the Ultimate or The Card Network gift cards for in-store purchases but doesn't state online purchases.

        • +3

Is it still restricted to a maximum of one Ultimate gift card in one transaction online at the JB Hi-Fi website?

          Yes.

I only said “an Ultimate gift card” in my comment above. I never said anything about multiple Ultimate gift cards!

I needed to redeem several physical Ultimate gift cards to make up the amount so it was easier to convert them to JB Hi-Fi eGift Cards.

If you were purchasing on the JB Hi-Fi website, the only option available is to do what you did (i.e. an exchange).

If you were purchasing at a physical JB Hi-Fi store, I would leave the Ultimate gift cards as is, because I do not want to have to deal with the hassle of converting each Ultimate gift card and then storing them on an app or printing them so that they were ready for redemption.

          • @WookieMonster:

            Thanks for clarifying :)

Just checking if the physical Ultimate gift cards can be used at any physical stores listed as is? I haven't tried too many stores yet.

            • +2

@trixieb: Yes, as long as the participating retailer is listed as accepting the Ultimate gift card in-store. For example, you cannot use a physical Ultimate gift card in-store at HOYTS, because HOYTS is an exchange-only participating retailer.

  • good for new apple stuff.

  • How about Ultimate Students - we can use it in office works to buy Apple gift cards right ?

    • Good luck.

      • It is against the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions and the Officeworks gift card policy to do this.

      • Officeworks should have updated their checkouts and payment systems over a year ago to block this. When I tried to use an Ultimate gift card to purchase a gift card in-store at Officeworks last year, the checkout immediately rejected it. The EFTPOS terminal displayed Invalid Product Mix, and the checkout person saw a message on their screen saying that I cannot use a gift card type payment method for the item I was purchasing.

  • Great deal. I just wish Amazon, eBay or Woolies accepted them. Ikea is also handy as

  • What's the refund process like if you're returning an item change of mind, or faulty that you've purchased with a gift card? Just generally speaking, I suppose most stores will vary. I checked the FAQ and didn't see this mentioned.

    • Goes back on a store giftcard

      • Hm fair enough. Cheers for the info!

  • Can we just use the card to order iphone via jb hifi?

  • No limitation on the number of cards per person/day

    • No but there’s an overall cap of what will effectively be a $1500 spend throughout the entire promotion period. See comments above.

    • -1

My local Coles has signs that says max 5 cards per customer per day… ridiculous

  • -1

    $30=600 Flybuys Points; $50 = 1,000 Flybuys Points; $100 = 2,000 Flybuys Points.

So bascially spend 100 get $10 worth of flybuys (less than 10%)

    • why less than 10%?

      • Because you don't get flybuys points on the stuff you purchase with flybuys dollars, so you're technically missing out on a small amount of savings from regular shops.

        • +1

          When did this change happen?

I paid for my grocery shopping at Coles last night using Flybuys Dollars, and the points I earned from that transaction came through a couple of hours ago (and I earned 1x point per $1, as expected).

I also have also in the past earned Flybuys points when redeeming Flybuys Dollars at Target, Kmart and First Choice Liquor.

The terms and conditions of Flybuys Dollars (at the bottom of this webpage) does not mention anything about Flybuys Dollars redemptions stopping you from earning points.

There is even a FAQ on the Flybuys website saying you will still earn Flybuys points when redeeming Flybuys Dollars.

  • with all the giftcard deals over the past few months you'd think we're in some sort of economic downturn/recession … oh wait

  • What are the chances we'll see another 15% off between mid to late September like last year?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/800798

    • Most likely just before Xmas, I think

  • What are the chances of hacking on these cards? Has anyone lost any money previously on these. Im planning to buy $1500 for new iphone but it will be sometime between phone come to the market

    • +1

If someone “hacks” your Ultimate gift card, you are probably very unlucky.

Read the first part of this comment on why I say that.

    • Convert them to the retailer you are planning to buy with and it should be safer

  • Their ultimate gift for him is so confused. Coles in my area only stock old ultimate hime 50 and 100 (3years expire) and new variable card logo (50-500) with 5 years expiry.
I dont know which one works when both gift card is the same company. So stupid.

  • I didn't see any banners up on my local Coles for this deal, too scared to buy any :(

      • But they're not discounted, the deal is bonus flybuys points
