  • 2 generations old now Quite liked the phone but it became quite buggy towards the end of its life. Good weight and battery though. Good for light users still

Very popular at this price previously.

While you're correct, that was 2022

Security updates stop in less than a year (May 2025)

    Get a G84 or G54

    • Have these phones received OS updated yet?

      • +1

        Only to Android 13

        • +2

          14 available for G84 and G54

          • +1

@bamzero: Sorry, I thought Windows meant the G82

            • @shxhshzhz: I think you thought right, as you responded to the comment covering the

G82 (also seconday to the G84 & G54 below in smaller letters).

    • +1

G54 is way too slow. I wouldn’t recommend it.

      • I recommend the G84. For the price, it's a fantastic phone (I'm not a mobile gamer however).

      • +1

        What are you smoking?
It's a fine phone for the price. It's a GREAT travel phone.
You need to use in the real world and not look at specs.

      • I've got a G54 and it's really a good phone.

    • +1

      Get none of them.

Had a Motorola Edge 40 that still hasn't got Android 14 and last security patch level update was March 2024. What a joke.

      Who Really cares?
It's a phone and works well.
Minor fake tweaks by google are not really worth anything these days.
      Use common sense.

    • G85 is out for $400 i haven't checked specs to see how it stacks against the G82 or G84. Something I also have not looked into is the older phones that may or may not support emergency calls on VO-LTE when 3G turns off next month.

  • 1800p screen? Snapdragon 6375?

  • +2

Updated with coupon code and added note on Android 13 being final OS update.

  • My mum's old Motorola Moto E5 is getting rather sleepy now. Wonder if this would be a suitable replacement. The updates stopping hardly matters.

    • +4

Since she can use one phone for a long time, the $299 Samsung A35 is a much better option with more than 4 years of updates left, much newer model, stronger processor, better screen and cameras.

      • +4

Over a hundred bucks more. I'm on ozbargain because I'm a cheapass. :P

There's some nice Motorolas on Amazon under 200 bucks, one I'm looking at with Android 14. I wonder if that's better. I'll have a look around.

I thought this may be worth a mention.
I bought a Moto Edge 20 Fusion in 2022, it's been a good phone and I was quite aware that its OS and security updates were limited. It came with 11, it updated to 12 along the way and the last security update was in October 2023.
It is used as a spare/travel phone these days so it was turned off for a few months, but I turned it on again last week and I was quite surprised to see it update to 13. Date of update was 1 June.
OK, it is 'only' 13, and my P8a has 14 and will update to 15 when that drops. But I was not expecting another OS update, even if it did come a year after other brands and models received it.
I wonder if Motorola will continue this across the range?

    • +1

The Edge phones get more updates than the cheaper G phones which usually get 1 OS and 3 years security updates.

  • It's actually $189 with SAVETHG code

    • Plus $5 delivery

  • +3

My one brain says it would be better to add a freebie and maybe even save a dollar.

Still $194 if you add a $5 item to your order.

$193 if you add a $4 item to your order. Save a dollar!

edit: Here's another option. Add a cheap coin battery from another store.

    199.00 Motorola g82 5G
    5.00 delivery
    1.20 Eunicell LR44-AG13 battery
    -20.00 SAVETHG
    = $185.20

or $185.49 with this CR2032 battery instead.

  • Is the Snapdragon 695 processor any good at PS2 emulation?

    • Probably not, but ok for PSP emulation.

  • Is this phone good for a PMP (portable music player) alternative as it supports aptX adaptive and HD?
