  • Anyone have any experience with these? how loud is it?
My current esun drier drives me mad with its fan noise

    • Seen lots of the review and yes it’s actually quite loud and also uses up a lot of electricity as it has a 300W heater and 3 separate fans.

    • Sound isn't an issue for me compared to my old dryer but there is a smell, could be because it's a new unit so it has to settle in a little or just the smell of the filament warming up

  • It's been this price for a while, I would wait for the usual 15/17% or 20/22% discount codes

There's a lot of Sunlu S4 + AMS Hybrid mods to check out as well.

Waterproof tubs and desiccant is doing the job for me, is it worth the money to get one of these over my current system?

    • +2

      Nope.

And if you ever need one, your printers heated bed + a cardboard box upside down on top, is a great solution.

    • I think a setup like that is good for keeping them dry, but for drying I just wanted something I could chuck four rolls into and dry them overnight for use

    • PLA will break easily over time even with the waterproof tubs and desiccant

  • Any deals for filament around?

    • +1

the codes ended, wait for another round of JAYO & SUNLU filaments.

If you need sooner, Siddament is an option

      • those sunlu deals were smashing, are they frequent?

        • +1

          Probably every month

    • eSun PLA and PLA + are on special on Amazon at the moment if you need something in the short term while waiting for a bulk deal.
I had 2 rolls this week and they are printing well.

These were listed at $190 for a day or two during the last eBay 20% discount, so I decided to get one, delivered for $152.
Not worth it at full retail ($240), even at $190 it's still pricey for what it is.

Some will argue that a food dehydrator + a 20L bucket is a cost effective option for doing the same thing, that I agree. But for aesthetics, features and plug and play operation, these are good if they can be had for around $150.

It has an audiable hum, a bit louder than a P1S fan at 100% but my A1 mini printing standard at 70% fan is louder

  • My filament dryer cost far less, fits far more and also makes beef jerky when it's not being used to dry filament.

      That's nice lil guy

      • Yep, i do the same as him.

Dehydrators are brilliant. Typically cheaper and last longer.

        • also rocking the cheap food dehydrator method.

I've seen a few people just put the whole base into the storage tubs instead of using the food trays

Also looks butt ugly next to my printer, so yeah I'd rather pay more for something like that, but that's just my opinion

    • Beef jerkey with a hint of VOC

      • +1

Yeah, I wouldn't use it for food after using it for filament.

  • +1

Great unit. Quick to load, looks great beside my Qidi X-Max 3. Can have it turn on automatically when humidity rises. I really didn't want to mess around with desiccant and Tupperware. Bought a food dehydrator but again it's just messy.
