How is this compared to cheaper Denon AVR-X580BT

this one has online features inc. wifi bt

this will be hugely benefical for most modern people

  • better off spending a little more for the s970h if it can be found for ~800

AVR-X1800H is much more future proof and was only $660 less than 6 months ago and was $760 on prime day or $730 from JB if you had perks.
Having said that, Denon can go and jump since they cripple the Australian models by not including front pre outs or coaxial digital in.

    • that's a common thing these days

very few entry to mid models have front preouts these days let alone full

      only the top end stuff

      • The US model has front pre-outs and coax digital input but not the Australian model.
Yamaha include these features in the RX-V6A and above but their HDMI is not full bandwidth so I'm waiting for them to release an updated model that addresses this.
Hopefully Yamaha don't follow suit and think it's ok to start removing stuff for the Aussie market but charge the same or more as O/S models.

It's been like this for years only getting worse. Audessey XT and front preouts used to be mid level and is so easy to implement them and yet Denon cripples these features. Have to vote with the wallet.

I always wondered about speaker level preouts though. I have read on some foums that these converters that you connect to speaker terminals convert from high level to low level without perceived loss.

I've always felt it to be a hack that I never tried it. Apparently this is very common in car audio world.

    • would Sony AN1000 be a better choice than the X1800H?

      • Reviews say it's better than an X1800 in terms of audio quality, power, features and connectivity, my only problem with the AN1000 is the price being way over the top, if the price was more reasonable and I had to buy now, this is what I would go for.
Personally, I'm going to wait to see if Yamaha releases new AVRs with 40-48Gbps HDMI bandwidth.

You will will need pretty sensitive speakers with this due to its relatively low power output. keep in mind! 5 channels driven specs are not listed…
