I just had 20,000 points added to my Flybuys account. The only purchases I am expecting 20,000 points from is the bonus points from this deal…

    • 32,000(2x16,000) for me just now. Were not there 5min ago. I got 2x4,000 yesterday.

(This is across two accounts obviously)

    • do you remember what time did you get yours gift card 2 days ago?

      • +1

One lot was around 10:30am, another was around 8pm.

        • Isnt it maximum 5 cards per flybuys account or you can buy additional cards next day on se flybuys account?

          • @Ash-Say: 5 cards per flybuys account. People have multiple flybuys

        • I bought mine around 6pm WST, I will wait a little longer and will check again.

  • +1

    Got bonus too now

Bonus points finally hit… EDR for vanilla was near instant…
Imagine if flybuys got their act together and followed EDR. But i guess it is like asking for coles to accept their giftcards online… miles behind woolies for a major brand it is kinda sad

    • Did you buy Vanilla with coles Mastercard?

  • Seems to be a 2 day delay.

    • I bought yesterday afternoon around 6pm AEST and received the points this afternoon.

      • I get the feeling like maybe they got a lot of phone calls

Tampered cards found Yamanto & Silkstone (Both in Ipswich QLD) Please be careful

Package back and front legit until you open it. Card number digits 9,10,11,12 scratch off along with CVV all digits. No sticky glue dots used to attach card to package but instead some strong super glue used.

Both Coles replaced cards on the spot after doing their own search and found more. Both stores removed all $250 cards off shelf

    • My local store now put all cards behind the counter.

  • Bonus points now appeared

Is the savings worth the risk of dealing with a tampered card? I was reading the Vanilla card thread as well and am thinking hmmmm not worth the risk…seems to be a common problem with these prepaid cards?

    • +2

      common

      Rare.

      • -1

I am not so sure…if you read through the posts from past sales, it was happening - then they changed the packaging and it is still happening…as mentioned by someone below - he got 2 tampered cards and needs to prove he bought them and wait for replacements to be sent in the mail….

        • -1

I'm well aware of the issues relating to these cards having bought tens of thousands of dollars of them over the years and participated in these threads.

Tampered and hacked cards are rare, not common. A minute percentage of people purchasing these cards run into these problems. There is a risk, and one you should be aware of before spending hundreds of dollars on these cards, but the risk is extremely, extremely small.

          Not common.

          • @wavesgreen: It might be a small percentage of people reporting on here but we don’t actually know the number who are afffected…and I reckon it’s just not worth the $14 saving one get…the hassle to get it resolved is not worth it and given the rise of scammers, etc I do think it is a lot more common than we would like to believe…at the end of the day, we all have different risk tolerances and what we see as being worth the effort, I used to buy these cards previously but have now stopped as I don’t think the effort is worth it given how even “closed” cards are being tampered with…

            • -2

              @SunnyinDubai:

but we don’t actually know the number who are afffected

But you just said it was common. So which is it - do know the numbers, or we don't. Your logic is faulty.

              Or are you just fearmongering.

              • @wavesgreen: It was in response to your comment about only a minute of people have reported issues with the card.

Not fearmongering at all…people will do what they want to do, irrespective of what I say on here…I was just commenting on the fact that it seems to be happening quite a bit…end of story!

  • Coles Benowa has plenty of $250 cards. I just bought my 5.

    • Cole's Southport park as well

  • Can anyone tell me how you use these cards in stores got trigger happy and threw packaging out and have only worked out to use online not in store

  • +1

I bought 5 on Wednesday and 2 of the cards 4 of the digits and cvv had been scratched off. No sign of tampering at all with the packaging!

I called the number on the card straight away and they have blocked the cards and are investigating and have asked me to send through my proof of purchase etc. The customer service guy said I should be sent replacement cards in the mail, but I am waiting for a reply back to my email. Verty stressful for a few thousand points. Has anyone been in a similar position and did you get a replacement card(s) sent to you?

    • The number on back of the card, when i rang it and spoke with some guy he got annoyed with me because he couldn't understand what i was saying and when i spelt my address out he hung up on me? Anyways i rang both coles i bought the cards from and they both said to bring them in with receipt and go from there. Both store replaced my tampered cards on the spot only AFTER finding more tampered cards still on shelf.

      • Ok, Its been a few days but mabybe I will try and go to the coles tomorrow and ask them to see if there is anything they can do?

        • No harm trying. I just went to the smoke desk and asked if i could speak with someone regarding a purchase of gift cards that are missing numbers on front and back of card before i open packet.

        • +1

Staff took a closer look and went to grab some off the shelve and return to desk. She open 3 packets in a row of tampered cards with scratched off digits, the 4th she open she gave to me as a replacement and called in another staff to remove all $250 off the shelf

          • @Jazkatz: Which Coles did you buy the tampered cards from? This information will help others that had bought from the same store to check on their cards.

            • @LLdreamer: Sorry i had posted earlier on this thread before i responded to this person. Cards were purchase at both Yamanto & Silkstone store (both in Ipswich QLD) on Thursday 5th September around 10:30am

              • +1

@Jazkatz: Sorry, I clicked on the wrong reply button. I was actually directing the question at @AussieTiger. Had seen your comments before I posted my question. Thank you for letting us know where you bought the cards from.

          • @maverick1: Coz you are overly professional. It worked for me a week ago.

            • @Neoika: must be new security feature added by SB. These cards have always worked. Worked until couple of days ago for me…

              • +1

@maverick1: There's cool down period for each card issuer or type. The Vanilla VISA should work for you.

  • Coles Colonnades has had stacks of cards all week, including today. They never hung the sign up saying the cards are on special.

  • Surprised to see my Coles just filled a whole new lot today, they run out by last Thursday evening . Try your luck, today is the last day.

I experienced newly invented rule made up by an older lady (always older ladies) at my local Coles. I purchased one card at manned checkout and asked to split it as I only had $200 and $100 SB supermarket cards. So one split. The young guy did it. I returned later, after I had done my shopping to do the same again. He took the card and spoke to the supervisor. She asked me if I had purchased a card earlier. She told me I could not buy it as a split because the card had a "security feature that meant it would not work" and something about a pin. However, she did not say the card I had already purchased would not work. I questioned her and she would not budge. She said I would have to return the next day even though I had only purchased one card. I then said I would buy it without any split and she would not allow that either and took the card away. During this deal, I purchased several cards doing the split and have used them without an issue. I even returned to the same store and purchased several cards splitting payment without the rule being invoked.

I was also frowned upon by an older lady at my local Cole’s

I went to the shop and found one last yellow gift cards at the shelf, so I took it. When I did the self checkout, it needed a staff to write down the issue date. The older lady asked another staff if it’s she gave me the gift card. The other lady answered no. This older lady asked me where did I get it with a very cold voice. I told her I got it from the gift card shelf.. She then went there and checked and came back said nothing was there. I didn’t know what she was trying to prove, but it’s a very bad experience..

      • Yes, I have had a few of these. Another time I had one tell me that my husband could not buy any cards because I had purchased 5 as it was 5 per family. lol

      • Did you end up buying it? People are tempering with the gift cards then putting it back on the shelf. As soon as you buy it and it is activated, they instantly spend the gift card leaving you with $0.

        • I purchased about 20 cards in this deal and many more previously. You do need to be careful. I believe the vast majority of people get their money back although it may take a while. In 2018 I purchased 5 of the old version of this card and the cards inside had been substituted with different cards even Vanilla with 0 balances. I did get my money back. Since then no problems and I do purchase each time there is one of these deals. However, I use them within 24 hours.

        • +1

Ah, so she was trying to help me? It would be much better if she could have explained to me the reason behind…

          • @tangible: You are right she was not trying to help you. This deal brings out the worst in a certain type of employee, in my experience, others have also reported usually an older lady. They seem to think they own a slice of Coles and must protect it from anyone who wants a good deal. And I am speaking as an older lady.

    • +1

Yeah it's just someone making up complete BS.

I understand a bit of caution if they are getting dodgy people acting like they are committing fraud. Like them refusing to do split payment I guess is fine eventhough it is 100% acceptable way to pay for a gift card… but I'd just go to another store.

  • any idea how to spend the flybuy point accumulated in different cards …

    No stock shortage this time.
