Wow great find. Almost convinced me to buy a backup

    • Did you cave and buy?

I just had my phillips one break last night while cooking silverside so this is great timing, thanks!

    • +1

Just cooking some silverside in my Instant pot.

      Makes great pulled beef.

      • Can you share the recipe please mate?

  • how quick to they reach cooking pressure and temps?

    • Between 5-10 mins preheating before it has pressurised when we have done a beef stew, steaming rice or veg.
Steamed rice done after 15 mins all up.
Not exactly same as our dedicated rice cooked but Def worth the time saving

I find the saute function very weak when trying to brown meats, even after adjusting to high.

I feel like I didn't have that issue with the one I had overseas, original model instant pot

    • might be just your one, or maybe there are variable temps on different ones (i.e. they are not working correctly). Someone else said the saute function was too hot, so opposite to your issue.

      • Yeah I thought so too for a second but apparently it's no match for a pan on the stove (the US has some pro model which allows the inner pot to be used on a stovetop and induction)

No big deal, I am happy to use a pan and deglaze, then chuck into the instant pot.

Damn you legend, been waiting for a year for the longest time lol! My cook4me broke so was eyeing on this particular model for awhile. The $10 gift card was clutch, thanks heaps! Btw c&c, not much stocks left around me!

  • thanks, got it for $79, and luckily one at my local to collect. I have never had a slow cooker or pressure cooker…I always say I am the slow cooker, as I have plenty of time to cook things slowly on the stove, but this is something I can set and forget plus be able to do faster dishes on pressure cooker function. I might try to make yoghurt as well. I used to make it years ago in the easiyo, but haven't done it for years (I used to use my own yoghurt as the starter once I had done it the first time with the packet) might even try silverside and beef and a lamb shoulder if it fits

    • To slow cook properly in this model, buy the glass lid separately, otherwise just use the pressure function (food comes out just as good)

Trust me on this, speaking from experience

      • ok, thanks, I will try the pressure cooker function on it. Not sure if I would bother to buy a separate glass lid if it works just as well. As I would be home while it is cooking (I don't work) pressure cooking is fine. Thanks for the info

      • what will happen if you slow cook with the normal lid?

        • It works, but meat won't be as tender as when using the glass lid. I have no idea why.

$20 on Amazon but apparently any glass lid that fits works. Check the reviews.

@TEER3X: Minimum order quantity is 2 lol, who needs 2 lids????

            • @Phesto: Just spoke to Amazon, hopefully it will get fixed soon

            • +2

@Phesto: Order a different brand with good reviews, check if you have a glass lid already.

Possibly the simplest solution is to use the included metal lid but leave it on vent. Just read about this and haven't tried it.

              • @TEER3X: thanks. I have a universal lid at home (metal rim, and glass viewing) It doesn't have a vent hole, but obviously the fit isn't snug, so it prob works like a vent anyway as moisture would escape under the lid. I can try that before using other methods mentioned

    • +1

I've used the slow cooker + the pressure cooker to finish it off, works amazing! Super easy to use as someone with 0 experience. This was with the standard metal lid

      • +1

Apparently you can use the metal lid the whole way through, just leave it on vent when using the slow cooking function (not seal).

I returned one of these from Amazon, found the stainless steel pot corroded/pitted very early after only 2 uses. They use a cheaper 18/8 stainless which is less resistant to high heat + chlorides compared to the better 18/10; something to look out for if you cook acidic or salty food 😬

    • What were you cooking? Corroded in two uses is wild

      • -1

shredded beef… 😆 I was looking at reddit posts and a few amazon reviews and they had the pitting problem too 🤷‍♂️

  • +1

Great find. Bought an extra stainless steel inner pot for almost 2/3 price of this whole unit!

    • Yea, those internal replacement pots are expensive.
I need a new one badly, but not sure where to get them. I can't allow myself to pay so much for them, $50, when the whole thing can be had for $71

    • Got that earlier too but looks like it’s sold out now!

  • OOS

  • Still available for delivery.

    • That's odd.
Last night was 'NULL' and not available to order online or in store

  • What are these used for, is it like an air fryer for liquids like soup and stew?

    • First and foremost it's a pressure cooker. If you have an idea how to use it, it can be much more

  • Got a cancellation email 😞
