Yes can second this. Also have a Steel line SD1200, works a treat! For transparency this is my second unit in 3 years. 1st one decided to stop working. Wifi works etc, but doesnt want to "trigger" the door. Swapped to new one back working again.

  • Got one of these last month, I love it!

  • +1

Mine works with centurion but my remote range dramatically declined because I placed it near the motor/unit. Lots of interference

  • Iknow home kit for Apple - but whats the actual difference to non- homekit version? which one should i get for Android?

    • +1

You cant say “siri , open garage door” with the non Home kit version + you need a home hub (apple tv , ipad or apple speakers) to drive the system.

They have their own app which you can use to instruct the system.

      • Can’t use iPad post which ever update

    • +2

I've got non-home kit version for Android use.
you allow access to meross account to google home and assign a PIN.
Then you can "hey google open garage" to any of your google home connected devices.

    • Usually non homekit devices are cheaper to use anyway, and there are lots of ways around this issue too. Youll probably save a few dollars going for one without homekit compatibility.

  • +2

I got this a few months ago. The connection is hit and miss even though it has 100% signal. Most of the time the device is not connected when I need it.

    • Must be something wrong with your unit or WiFi connection maybe?

Mine’s been working well for 3 years.

  • I have a B&d will it work?
I already have a remote, how is this different?

    • +1

Yes I have the same. It is an additional wifi remote. You can use a phone app to open the door And Also can load the app onto multiple phones for family. Cheaper than the b&d wifi module that costs $200+

Also this one integrates into Apple honekit

      • bought a 4ch wifi relay switch to handle both my doors for 36 dollars. Works a treat

    • I’ve got a B&D model GDO-4V3 EL. Meross support says it’s not compatible, worth checking before you buy.

      • GDO-4 will be under ATA Automatic Technology

  • Anyone how what is going on with mine here…

Every few seconds I get an alert saying the door is open, then a second later the door is closed… This simply repeats over and over to the extent that I had to turn off notifications

But I've got no idea how to fix it !

    • +1

      Maybe double check the sensors?

    • +3

I had the same issue when the sensors were just a tad too far apart, so when the wind blew it would send "open/close" notifications.
Corrected by bringing them a few mm closer together

    • I had that issue and had a look at the sensors, to find them about 0.5cm apart. That's how I found that my cables were failing lol

Genuine question. How does it make one's life easier? Opening and closing garage door is already a very low effort activity.

    • +1

You can integrate with Google Home, Home Assistant, open the door remotely when not at home etc.
Also you will be notified when others open the door by notification. Quite handy.

    • +1

good question, if you don't have problem with your existing setup may be then you don't need one. This does the job when garage remote is not around or you would want to open garage remotely away from home.

    • +1

I can drive up to the gate and say “hey siri open the driveway gate” and it opens.

    • +7

This is a good question, I personally use mine in the scenarios below:
      1. If I want to let family members into the house but I'm not around (open garage remotely)
      2. If I forget to close the garage door when I drive out, or, additionally, have the peace of mind that the garage door is actually close (and close it in the event it isn't, without physically being there)
      3. Carplay has a screen whereby the open/close garage door pops up as a tile when you are within the geo-fencing area. So it makes opening and closing even more effortless IMO, as you don't have to scramble for your garage remote and simply tap the screen right in front of you

These 3 reasons, in my opinion, makes the device more than worthwhile.
I personally don't use the siri function, but can see the appeal there too.

      • +1

Yep, all these, and that the app fire off an alert if you've left the garage door open for more than x minutes, or if it's open at a certain time, say 11pm.

      • Just a note on point 1 there. Most car insurance companies seem to require a locked door between an attached garage and the house. The reasoning is that an intruder to the garage could steal the car keys from the house and make off with the car. So that means a family member would need a key to get further than the garage. A smart door lock would probably suffice but it's another cost.

    • I have a couple of ideas for it - remote access so my dad can access my garage if he's doing stuff at my house while I'm not home/away. Secondly, I'll use it for the sensors so when my wife opens the roller door to park the car it automatically turns the garage light on so she can plug her car in, and remove the kid without having to fumble around and find the light switch.

    • +1

Per @joeiwu, everyone carries a phone but not an expensive proprietary garage door remote. For households running low on remotes this is an economical alternative.

    • Reminders when you've left it open. Do it from an app instead of clunky key fob. Voice open/close. Set routines e.g. when triggered, put on a load of lights and play the Imperial March. Have it auto open/close when arriving/leaving house. That kind of thing.

    • Automation is the bit that makes life easier. If you are buying this to just use it as a remote then yeah, very pointless. But the beauty of it being connected is you can set triggers. I have my mums one set up so that when she turns into her street the door automatically starts opening, I have my air conditioning set up to turn on at certain thresholds when my phone disconnects from the office wifi within the hour I would be leaving to go home.

Plus all the other mentions like notifications when its been opened unauthorised or at weird times of the night or when you arent at home etc.

    • my main reason for it is to give the whole family access as we only have two set if keys, plus it's easier with no keys to get in and carry around

    • As someone with an ABI, specifically with short-term memory loss, I'm looking at getting one of these for when I leave home. I can check if the cameras if I left the door open and then close it using this.

  • if i want to connect to google home, which one should i buy? thx

    • I would suggest neither and trying to find one that doesn’t need a PIN code to open every time

      • Isn't there a setting for 'no pin' in the meross app.

        Open up meross app
Choose your device, click to right hand corner (looks like a small QR code on the tile)
        Disable “Google PIN code"

        • I set mine up a few years ago now, but I do recall it didn't allow for use without adding a PIN.
          May be different now.

          • +1

@Chenzo: The current app (on iphone) allows you to toggle Google PIN to 'off'

            • @dangerdanger: interesting.
I'll still leave mine PIN enforced, just in case some muppet yells "hey google open garage" at the front of my house and google home actions it :)

  • I have one of these. It's excellent

  • Are these fairly straight-forward to install?

    • The unit yes, you probably need get extra parts and materials for the sensor.

    • +1

Very easy… Mount the sensor on the garage wall directly below the opener bracket, the magnet will allow for perfect placement on the metal door, tape the cable along the opener rail and hide all the cable and wifi box on top of the opener. Follow instructions on the meross app.

  • I have two of these works as intended.

Just a few things I've noticed, Ive got one attached to my DC motor front gate and also my garage door.
I didn't install open/close notification sensor as its wired bit of a eye sore. ( I wished I spent bit more money and got a Z-wave garage opener with wireless notification sensor)
Mine is linked to smartthings, opening via voice requires pin , compared to my myplace system no pin required. (Yes I have it hooked parallel to both systems)

If you link to smartthings you can run routines with zigbee remotes to open both garage and gate at the same time and play notification to your speakers that its opening /closing.

Trying to figure out a way to tag a wireless notification system with 3rd party door sensor which can synch notifications across google home/smartthings. Not the biggest deal not knowing the status because i have cameras, but would be nice.

  • Buy now and check later for compatibility?

    Old chamberlain garage door.

Thinking it might be out of stock by the time I get home after work.

    • Don't quote me as I don't have this exact device but usually all these do is piggyback off the existing hardware and ping signals that way, usually off the RF receiver. Unless its old enough to be using some sort of oddball tech it should work.

  • How easy would a device like this be to 'hack' for someone to gain unlawful entry?

Aside from more complex methods, like somehow sending a command over your LAN, what happens if someone simply stands at the window and yells out "Hey Google!…open garage door"?

    • +1

If your LAN/Wifi are the same network, possibly.

if they are intruding on your home LAN, opening the garage may not be the biggest concern.

      • +2

        Point taken.
A LAN intrusion is unlikely. But as I said, what's to stop someone simply standing at the window and yelling "Hey Google…open garage door"?
Not sure if anyone has other doors or access points controlled by voice command.
The garage would certainly be a first for us, hence my concern.

        • Give it a more personal "name" instead of garage door.

Something like "open the bat cave", maybe.

          • @ultrawires: Probably a good idea. Though this does imply that there is a degree of risk.

            • @stuckster: putting a pin on opening would mitigate some risk.
              depends on your risk appetite.
you can also do things like voice-match on assistants to further reduce risk.

          • @ultrawires: Sesame

      • +2

I'd be more concerned with a person physically intruding in my house than on my wifi.

        • Exactly.

        • 100%, local threats are of the upmost concern.
          I was talking re:network intrusion.

    • HomeKit won’t let you unlock doors etc. using your voice (for obvious reasons), I would hope Google is the same!

      • That's odd. The Amazon product page heavily promotes the fact that you can use voice control to open the garage door on Siri, Alexa and Google!

  • +1

Thanks OP, just bought one to replace my 10 years old gogogate2
gogogate was great but my door sensor is no longer working (always detected as door closed)

  • Just use a Shelly 1?
works great with Amazon / google etc and cheaper

    • Is $31.45 via eBay plus a good price?

  • -2

Not sure it's a bargain though, these and similar models are always available for ~$30 on your various Chinese online tat shops

    • +1

The HomeKit version is rarely cheaper

    • +1

For the odd person unwilling to modify non-homekit devices to work with homekit its a bargain cause homekit compatible devices usually command a higher price.

  • such a good device, purchased the non home kit version 3 months ago as I just use it with home assistant. very easy to install and once connected to your network you can just block it from internet access as it works over your local network.

really stable and quick, it's never dropped off the network and needs very little wifi signal to get a stable connection, I have it programmed to a lifx 4 gang light switch in the garage. you press one of the light switch buttons and the garage opens/closes. there is no lag as it just runs on your local network.

setup home assistant notifications to notify you whenever the door opens and clears the notifications when the door closes.

there are cheaper devices out there but this is the simplest one to setup and takes 2 mins to setup with home assistant.

  • What's the Difference between:

    https://amzn.asia/d/dcBtLCc

    and

    https://amzn.asia/d/haDgHrn

    • First one is ex-Germany (non-HomeKit) but can be shipped from here for $41.99 if you prefer a lower price

  • Gonna mirror a lot of the comments here - I've got mine and it's great, haven't had any issues with it!

Needed a WiFi extender because of a really odd garage construction, WiFi extender is really unhappy, always a red light because the signal isn't strong enough - but never an issue with the garage door opening, so go figure?
