    Code doesn’t work for me.

    • click on redeem, it will auto apply at checkout.

no code remaining which is probably why it doesn't work

      • yeap, as above, code no longer works and redeem button is gone.

  • Is this the same one for $48.96? (Prime)

Not apple homekit compatible out of the box.

    • That one you linked is for Android users thus no Apple Tax and thus cheaper. It won't work natively with Apple Homekit and 'Hey Siri' without a lot of hacking / slashing / fluffing around with 3rd party apps and configurations, not worth the time and effort to save $6.

      • If my household is Android only, is this the best option?

        • get the cheaper non homekit verson.

These are great half my house lights rigged up using them, none have failed

  • +1

Highly recommend - these have consistently been flawless in my house. Have had them over a year and they're as perfect now as the day I got them.

    • +2

Yes but Catch is doing an 'Aliexpress' and playing tricks on your eyes the with wrong default image, on Catch it is $27.29 for 1 pack and $81.25 for the 4 pack.

      • Ah damn, just ordered. Wondering if I can get a refund if only 1 plug comes. Should be able to have them on misleading advertising…?

        • Just cancel the order, it clearly shows 1 pack from the drop down menu with the wrong default image. Also the image doesn't change when selecting different packs so Catch is going full Aliexpress mode hehehe.

      • Ah yes - that is a bit naughty.

Note: no energy monitoring on this version

My basic model Meross with HomeKit failed after almost exactly 2 years of use, kept rebooting with clicking sound and not working at all. Emailed them and they asked for a video showing how it did not work. So yeah it’s cheap and it works but I don’t think it’s of good quality that lasts.

Mine is also around 26 months old, all work fine. Even the one plugged into a socket in the roof attic exposed to moisture and high heat that let's me control my solar roof vent.

    • +2

I had a similar issue with mine.

    • +2

Similar issue with mine. Worked perfectly for about 2 years, then stopped working and kept 'clicking'. I'll probably still get some more as they are the cheapest HomeKit plugs that I can find.

    • I haven't heard of any brand of modern smart plug that doesn't have the click of death after 2-3 years or so. It's so damn frustrating.

    • +1

I had a batch of them do exactly that. Meross replaced them all under warranty. I had kept three of the four (took one apart looking for obvious faults), and after they were sitting on the shelf for about six months I plugged one in for laughs and the thing worked! I pushed a firmware update to it (and the other two) and it has been rock solid ever since.

Every other bunch of these I have (12 or 16 total, I forget) has been flawless.

Over the last 5 years I may had 6 or so, 5 have been replaced as soon as after two years, stopped using them.
Gave the Ikea a go now, also to "extend" the zigbee network.
Also bought a couple of tapo ones mainly due to their small form factor,as I still have some tp link ones which are around 8 years old and still work fine.

    • +1

I just wish Ikea have their inspelning stock…

      • Agreed

    • The ancient chunky rounded TP-Link Kasa smart plugs seem to be built like tanks, I have 3 of them which have not failed. The newer rectangular and slimmer Kasa and Tapo plugs all fail with the click of death after 2-3 years.

  • +3

Mine working well still after a few years. Only criticism is they are too big, if I wasn't committed this this ecosystem would try get something smaller eg TP link.

  • +3

I’ve had a few of these that have died after 2 years or so. I just stick with Meross bulbs now that die every 3 years.

  • I would recommend avoiding those.
Mine has unstable connection even with a good Wi-Fi mesh system.
If you have a good infrastructure I suggest Zigbee or Thread (though it may be more expensive).

  • +2

Probably another thing to note about these plugs are they’re quite fat. I’m not able to fit two side by side unless I get separate adaptors.

  • I recommend these:

    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002605377621.html

Half the price, zigbee compatible, rated to 16A so more overhead and less chance of failure due to overloading, and also does energy monitoring.

    • These aren't HomeKit compatible are they?

    • +1

You might want to look up what RCM is, rather than your insurance company explain it to you later.

    • +1

I couldn’t find info on the Australian safety tick / checkmark?

  • +1

I own 12 of these. 4 still work, the rest just do the endless click of death. Cheap relay inside them dies like clockwork. Avoid

  • These are great, but they’re a bit too big. They cover the plug next to it.

  • What are most of you using these on? Any ideas to convince me to buy 4 of them?

  • +1

I've had one of these recently fail after about 2 years, otherwise they are good

the biggest issue with them is the size, they take up too much space and you can't fit two in a standard set of double plugs

  • These plugs are terrible. They work fine but block access to the outlet next to the one you’re plugging it in to. The Kasa ones from TP link are much better and now comes with Matter support. Not as cheap mind you.

  • Have a pair of these that worked fine on a 2.4/5 GHz router, but switched to a Mesh network and they don't work on 5GHz. Set the Mesh to 2.4 temporarily and managed to add them, but they dropped off eventually. Tried many times, but gave up and bought digital timers, which are not as flexible to change times

  • i just bought 2 last week.
1, they are quite big, you wont be able to use adjacent sockets when this is plugged in the middle of a row.
2, make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4G wifi while pairing it, i use meross app to pair to gain all the automation functionality stuff, i am not sure how to do that in apple home app.

  • I have these, can wholeheartedly recommend. Very easy to set up and control via the app. It just works as you'd hope it would.

I have one in a weatherproof container for the pool pump, and can set multiple times for it turn off and on. Others for Christmas tree, battery charger in garage etc.

You can name them so its easier to refer to, and they work seemlessly with Alexa (can get Alexa to turn pump on and off manually by voice with custom name I've given the power point).

  • These block the plugs next to it. Meanwhile, the TP-Link ones don't actually monitor power. Anyone got recommendations for a power monitoring plug that works via Matter? Or none in Australia yet?

  • It's strange - the Meross app is promoting a thinner, taller Australian outlet smart plug to me with a 'slim design', apparently 42mm wide, model mss315MA (2 for $44 on special). Says it won't block outlets. But I can't see that Australian plug on their actual website, only versions such as for the UK: https://www.meross.com/en-gc/smart-plug/matter-smart-plug/16…

    • I see that too - maybe a phased rollout while they ramp up inventory?

      • I’ve ordered a couple to play with

  • Why not something like https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007551446385.html ? Around $49 for pack of 4. I have 5-6 of these and been using for 9-10 months, don't have any issues. It gives power, current and voltage consumption in realtime. Works with smart devices perfectly.

  • New slim model is out now too. Obviously a lot more expensive. https://shop.meross.com/products/matter-smart-plug-mss315-au
