  • Shows as $155.80 for me

    • it wouldnt let me paste the proper link as the main link.. so i've put it in the body of text… see where it says "if top link doesn't work, click the link here:" and then select "Sensor Size: 12MP Cam"

  • is there a perticuler NVR that you must use with this or is it strictly Standalone ?

    • I’d imagine the reolink NVR that’s shown on the page where the camera is. I don’t think they sell them, so good luck tracking one down.

    • I think you need an nvr, recommended to use the official reolink nvr. Though certain reolink cameras that support onvif you can use computer software instead of an nvr, like blue iris, though it gets complicated then. Simplest way is reolink nvr.

The camera specs claim it supports ONVIF as well as RTSP so it should work just fine with any universal NVR. I use their door bell with Synology and tested it with Hikvision NVR as well.
If you want to use it standalone(with sd card storage), you can. But that means vandal destroys all evidence if they take out the camera.

The sad thing is they'll probably post that footage of their crime on social media as some king of badge of honour.

      • Personally will never buy Hikvision again, have the X2 app for my system, that’s no longer supported so have no way of checking anything while I’m away from home, system has been in 4 years, app hasn’t updated in 2 of those.

        • +2

Ew. Don't ever use their apps/cloud for anything, dodgy.

VLAN all their gear, ingress only, and setup a VPN to access the NVR remotely.

I work with these systems as part of my dayjob and seen so many of them - dahua, hikvision, hills, pacom, reolink, unifi, synology… Every has some advantage and disadvantage. I could spend hours going through that.
Basic rule for all of them remains - if it requires app and is not possible to control without it - hands off. All of my systems are locally controlled and accessed via our own VPN. None of them can reach internet and call home. There is just too much risk, especially with Chinese hardware.

          • @Vecernik87: If the Chinese wish to spy on my front garden, back garden and access gate to my home I’m fine with that.
Just annoyed to hell with the app, it’s no longer on Aus Apple Store, just ridiculous as I work away. Would 100% have got a different system had I known. X2 app sucks…

            • @Buddy195: They, and anyone who happens to be able to leverage the same vulnerabilities, can do a hell of a lot more than just watch your cameras with an unrestricted device on your network and an app on your phone.

  • Reolink still missing out on sales because they don't do their whole range in black.

    • That's interesting, most people have white eaves in their homes so it conceals the cameras nicely, do you have black eaves?

      • Nah, a 2 storey home with natural wood cladding and all black downpipes, custom window shrouds, vents, lights, etc and the cameras will be half way up. Sticking white ones on would look cheap and horrible.

Have ordered some g.craftsman and annke ones. Yeah not gonna be anywhere near as good as hikvision etc I expect. But for where they're going and the areas they need to cover they should be fine. And for those prices I can afford to change them out next year if not

        • Do you have an address as a representative example of what you have written here?

  • Just got it for $86.69 AUD.

    • Sure its not the 5mp you got?

    • For that price I'm assuming it's only the 5MP version?

    • thats the 5mp model

      • Damn right…doh!!! Very deceiving, as when i look at what i ordered, it still shows Reolink 12MP in description, but underneath in small text, says 5MP Cam. That caught me out

  • it wouldnt let me paste the proper link as the main link.. so i've put it in the body of text… see where it says "if top link doesn't work, click the link here:" and make sure you select "Sensor Size: 12MP Cam

  • still has Aust warranty and 6 months extended warranty when order under Aliexpress?
