mine says $6.34 before GST perhaps u have been duped and are looking at the breakout board

      good deal zaitron ty

        Mine is showing 1.52

Price changes when you log in

        • +21

dont try to ruin this guy's deal just coz u dont know how to use aliexpress ay m8

        • Mines not.

        • +2

That is the Welcome Deal. Aliexpress gives you a big discount for your first order so not generally applicable for those who have previously ordered from Aliexpress.

        • its some weird sale thing. i bought a bunch of electrical components last night and many showed as $1.52 specifically, until added to cart

        • +1

          That's only the expansion board.

  • got a couple different things, shipping jumped to 8 dollars?

    • +4

The delivery option for $3 is for low value items as it's untracked, which makes it less secure. The $8 option comes with tracking & insurance, making it much more secure and safe for higher value items (over $20). I'd also like to just mention that delivery is free over $50.

  • Does this have a 5V pinout? Hard to make out from the photos.

    • +4

The ESP32 board has a 5V pin on the very corner next to the USB connection. It can be used as both an input and output for power. The opposite side has 3.3V pin that is also both input and output.

  • +1

I've been testing boards that look similar (38pin, USB c, cp2102) for sleep power consumption and they work very well. Remove the regulator and cut the trace to the power led and it's <7uA in deep sleep. The cp2102 on my boards are configured for power from the USB, so it doesn't influence board power if you supply from 3.3V pin.

    • What's actually interesting is that ESP32 boards use almost no power when asleep but can use up to 3X more power than something like an arduino uno

  • +2

What are you guys building with this?

    • +4

      Sex toys.

    • +6

Everything. It's basically a souped-up Arduino, if you've heard of those.

There's WLED if you want to control LED matrices/strings over a web interface. Here's an Ambilight clone, and here's some dude's house. Or there's Nightdriver, which looks better I think.

Then there's ESPHome, which is an OS you can install on them that talks to Home Assistant, which is a home automation system. ESPHome makes it easy to interface the thing with a near infinite range of sensors - heat, temperature, light, volume, pressure etc. so you can have them trigger Home Assistant routines. Have your espresso machine start when you get out of bed of a morning; that sort of thing.

Or, it can act as a USB/Bluetooth keyboard, or mouse, or gamepad; so you can build your own peripherals. Or drive an E-Ink screen; I've seen someone put an E-ink panel in a nice frame next to their front door and display the current subway schedule, offset to include the walk to the station. Or there's a bunch of robotics projects, or….

  • +1

Oh man, I really want to get more but I've already got like 4-5ish sitting around doing nothing that I still need to make more plans for… Don't tempt me with more, I can't handle more!

    • +1

Yeah my OG arduino is still collecting dust, too busy to play with my toys

  • +2

Just curious, what would you guys wanna see on sale next?

    • Do you sell any kits/tools/components for the Make Electronics book/s?

I bought the book but I think my multimeter is shit so I never made any progress.

      • +1

Unfortunately we currently don't have any components or kits specific to the Make: Electronics book series but we do have multimeters. They are currently out of stock but there will be more in stock in the next couple of days.

    • These back in stock… :)

      • Someone cancelled so now there's more stock available if you're still interested

        • Wasn't quick enough - but I am in no rush. Can wait for backorder. Max qty? 20???

          • @glenn955: Max quantity is 8 per order. You can make multiple orders if you'd like.

            • @Zaitronics: Thx. It does always trigger the postage. But I guess I could have ordered something else on top. But it says $3 delivery but I see $8. ORDER #1182

    • you could try selling little home assistant starter kits or something like that

    • Perhaps ESP32-S3 Devkit version with the two usb s.

      • +1

I'll add that to the list of new items we'll offer. If it's popular, we'll increase stock and create a sale

  • I'm after maybe 3 - 5 pieces with a microphone module. Do you sell the mics?

  • I use these for jailbreaking ps4’s. Generally use the ESP32 s2 mini.

  • +2

    sold out?

  • Dam, just missed out by the looks of it

  • We have more coming in a bit over a week. Back orders have been enabled.

  • is this micro-usb?

    • Yes

    • +7

People who are into home automation and other similar products. There are plenty of OzB users who are into that.

  • -3

    Limit of 8 per order

Didn't stop you selling your limited quantity within what, 13 hours?

This seems to be a chronic problem for you.

    • +3

Had a couple people buy 8 multiple times to the same address. It added up to quite a bit. There was originally over 200

      • -4

Ah, the limit was only a pretend limit, I see

        • More effective than nothing

        • get over yourself mate, don't complain when something goes out of stock quickly because it's a good price from an aussie supplier.

          +1 OP bought 3

  • +2

If the back order is 2 weeks, just get it from aliexpress lol

    • +1

It says 2 weeks by default. This exact product is about a week

    • +2

now I understand why there is 2 weeks lead time.

They must buy from aliexpress and resell them.

      • -1

Yes, Zaitronics does this and tries to blind its customers from this. It is making a profit by doing this and the profit apparently stays in Australia, even though we should stop comparing Aliexpress sellers, because of the limited time specials they do, you get to buy from an Australian seller and get the item a few days earlier than buying from Aliexpress directly, even though this benefits the seller more than the customer. Zaitronics probably think they invented Arbitrage.

  • +1

Order limit of 8 removed for preorders

  • Back in stock again

  • Trying ESP32 first time.

Which board should I select in Arduino ?
